Celebrating 70 Years of Abbeyfield

This year, Abbeyfield proudly celebrates a truly special milestone—70 years of supporting older people and building communities where everyone feels at home. What began as a single house in southeast London has flourished into a worldwide family of homes and communities across 10 countries. Founded by Richard Carr-Gomm and established as a charity, Abbeyfield was built on a simple but inspiring belief: that older people deserve companionship, dignity, and a place to belong.

As we mark this incredible 70-year journey, we will be celebrating the moments, memories, and people who have shaped Abbeyfield along the way. From residents and their families to our dedicated staff, volunteers, and supporters, Abbeyfield’s story is one of care, connection, and community.

Throughout the year, we’ll be sharing uplifting stories and special moments that showcase the heart of Abbeyfield. We’ll be focusing on what makes Abbeyfield so special—our residents, the compassion and commitment of our staff and volunteers, and the invaluable support of families, friends, and communities.

As we look to the future, we do so with confidence and optimism. Our commitment remains unwavering: to continue evolving, innovating, and supporting older people to live fulfilling, connected lives for generations to come.
