RUTLAND CARE HOME CELEBRATES ‘OUTSTANDING’ CQC RATINGS

Tixover House Care Home in Tixover, Rutland passed a recent Care Quality Commission inspection with an overall ‘Outstanding’ rating - the best possible rating the home could achieve.

The CQC inspected Tixover House Care Home in November 2025 and rated the home, run by Barchester Healthcare, as ‘Outstanding’ in two areas of the inspection - well-led and caring - and ‘Good’ in the safe, effective and responsive categories. The report stated that there was a strong sense of belonging and teamwork in the home nurtured by a very well-respected management team who encourage a culture of genuine warmth and inclusivity and where residents are supported to maintain their interests and independence by exceptionally kind, caring, respectful and attentive staff.

The CQC report found that the care staff knew their residents well and were dedicated and driven to offering them the best possible care, going above and beyond to do so. The report also praised the culture of continuous improvement, innovation and learning in the home instilled by the highly visible and approachable management team who it said were deeply committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.

Highlighted in the report was that the staff love working at Tixover House where they feel supported, motivated and have good opportunities to progress in their careers. Staff spoke very highly of their work life at the home. One team member commented: “We genuinely love our residents and our roles so much, it is such a friendly and supportive environment - we all work as a team to make sure our residents receive the best possible care. New ideas are always welcome, and everyone is encouraged to communicate openly and support one another.” Another colleague added: “I am extremely happy to work in such a caring home under the leadership of our management who always listen, have time, give us feedback and help us improve the quality of our work day by day.”

Residents were also very complimentary about life at Tixover House, one resident stated: “The staff are really kind to me and very friendly, they are lovely to be with and they treat everyone the same. I love the carers and they love me, they treat me very well.” Another resident added: “This is like home from home for me. I am happy and comfortable here and there is nothing that could be done better for me. I have got everything I need.”

The report found that relatives were very complimentary about the care and support their loved ones received. A relative commented: “All the staff are happy and bright and that impacts on the residents in a positive way which is fantastic.” Another added: “The manager is very good, they are always walking around and seeing what is going on, the whole management team seem very on the ball with things, they run a tight ship. They send out emails and keep us updated, they are very helpful if you ask a question.”

Barchester’s CEO, Dr Pete Calveley, visited Tixover House to congratulate Ive and her team on the home’s Outstanding rating and award every member of staff a £500 voucher to celebrate their achievement. I am delighted to be here today to congratulate everyone personally, meet the residents and chat to the team about their wonderful work.”
