Hertfordshire Fire Brigade and Rescue Visit to Talk Home Safety

Last Updated: 24 Feb 2026 @ 00:00 AM

We were delighted to recently welcome Hertfordshire Fire Brigade and Rescue into Meadowhill Care Home for an engaging and informative visit.

Fire safety is something we take very seriously. We regularly invite the fire service to speak with both our residents and team members. These sessions teach reducing risks, emergency actions, and how the fire brigade protects residents, staff, and the wider community daily.

A Show-and-Tell Safety Session This visit was a friendly “show and tell” session, made to be interactive and easy to understand. The firefighters brought along some of their daily equipment and took time to walk around the room. They explained what each piece of equipment is used for and how it helps them respond quickly and safely to different types of fires.

Our residents enjoyed seeing the equipment up close and learning more about the important role the fire brigade plays. The team also explained how fires can start in the home, the differences between various types of fires, and simple steps everyone can take to stay safe. These can include keeping exits clear and being aware of potential hazards.

Supporting Residents and Staff Sessions like this are valuable not only for our residents, but also for our staff members. Regular training and awareness help make sure everyone feels confident in fire safety procedures and knows how to respond in an emergency. It also strengthens our commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment for everyone who lives and works here.

A Lovely Community Connection Beyond the safety messages, the visit was great for residents to chat with the firefighters, ask questions, and learn more about their day-to-day work in the community. It was great to see so many smiles and hear stories shared between residents and the fire service team.

We would like to say a big thank you to Hertfordshire Fire Brigade and Rescue for taking the time to visit and share their safety knowledge. Your continued support means a great deal to us. Keeping residents safe, informed, and connected to the community is a priority, and visits like this make a meaningful difference.
