A care home near Cardiff has been recognised as one of the best in Wales based on reviews from residents and their families.
Glenburnie Lodge Care Community has been named a Top 20 Care Home in Wales by carehome.co.uk, the UK’s leading website for finding and choosing a care home.
The award places Glenburnie Lodge among the top-rated homes out of more than 1,008 care homes across Wales and comes just two years after the 70-bedroom luxury care home opened in the village of Wenvoe.
The accolade is based entirely on independent reviews written by residents, along with their friends and relatives, highlighting the quality of care, support and overall experience provided at the care home.
Among those who left reviews were Ann, whose father is at Glenburnie Lodge.
She said: “We were instantly impressed when we met the team at Glenburnie who demonstrated a professional & empathetic understanding of not only what dad was going through but also what we as a family were feeling.
“The ethos that has been fostered there gave us confidence that our dad would be well cared for and we are delighted to say that has been the case since dad moved there.”
Maggie, whose aunt lives at the home, said: “This is a lovely home, with a bright and welcoming appearance as soon as you walk in. The facilities and the outings and activities are outstanding and the staff are very patient and friendly. My aunt is very happy.”
Amanda, whose father is at Glenburnie, said: “As a family we really appreciate the dignity with which Dad is treated at this time when he's at his most vulnerable. The warm welcome and friendly atmosphere extends into all aspects of care at Glenburnie.”
Helen Davies-Parsons, Director of Wenvoe Care Homes Limited which owns Glenburnie Lodge, said: “We’re delighted that Glenburnie Lodge has been recognised in this way and that it is based purely on reviews from the ladies and gentlemen who live at the home, or their families.
“It’s testament to all the staff at Glenburnie Lodge who go above and beyond each and every day to support the people in the home and to ensure their later years are as happy and comfortable as possible.
“We would like to thank our ladies, gentlemen, families and staff for their amazing support.”
Amanda Hopkins, Reviews Manager at carehome.co.uk, said: “We would like to congratulate Glenburnie Lodge on being named a Top 20 care home in Wales. It is a fantastic achievement and a real testament to the standard of care they provide.”
