Residents at Newton House care home in Grantham, have celebrated World Book Day today, enjoying a day of fancy dress, storytelling and a special visit from local nursery Sweet Angels Childcare Services.
The home was filled with colour and creativity as the children, residents and staff dressed as their favourite book characters, sharing stories and reminiscing about beloved childhood tales.
The nursery children joined residents for a heart-warming story time session, singing, dancing and lots of bubbles. Young and old gathered together to read aloud, listen to classic stories and enjoy each other’s company.
The intergenerational visit brought smiles all round, with residents delighted to see the children’s enthusiasm for books.
Karen Olivant Head of Activities said: "It was a truly beautiful morning for everyone involved. Bringing generations together through reading creates such amazing moments. The laughter and joy we saw during story time perfectly captured what World Book Day is all about."
The celebration forms part of the home’s ongoing commitment to enriching activities that promote confidence, creativity and community connection.
Our varied life enrichment programme keeps residents active, and provides a daily choice of engaging physical, mental and spiritual activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities.
