Valentines Afternoon at Oakview Lodge Care & Nursing Home

Residents, families, and members of the local community came together for an afternoon of music, dancing, and delicious treats at Oakview Lodge Care & Nursing Home in Welwyn Garden City, during a special Bakes and Bubbles celebration for Valentine’s Day.

Country Court’s Valentine’s tea party theme for 2026 is Bakes and Bubbles. Valentine’s Day offers the perfect opportunity to host a warm and welcoming afternoon tea party, inviting family, friends, and members of the local community to spend time with residents and share in the celebrations together.

‘During the Bakes and Bubbles tea dance, there was a live singer, creating a welcoming atmosphere that had residents singing along, clapping, and dancing in their chairs while others took to the floor. The event was attended by relatives, community members, and the Mayor, making it a special occasion for everyone involved.’ said Customer Relations Manager Julia Rodell.

‘Guests enjoyed a selection of heart-shaped biscuits and beautifully decorated cupcakes made by the home’s kitchen team.’ said Wellbeing Coordinator Rachel Davies.

It was a particularly heartwarming afternoon for the team, who enjoyed seeing residents laughing, smiling, and dancing in their chairs and around the lounge while spending time with loved ones and visitors from the community.

Family members and visitors shared their appreciation for the event.

"This was so much fun," said a family member. "We had the best afternoon singing and dancing!" said a family member. "Beautiful afternoon," said a community member. "A lovely afternoon – unforgettable memories," said a family member.

The Mayor also praised the event, saying, "We love coming here to your events, we love all the residents and seeing you all."
