My husband was welcomed to Oak View Lodge at the beginning of September. From my first visit I felt welcome and greeted ny everyone with a smile and a welcome greeting. During his month long stay my husband was treated as a special guest. The meal time menus were varied and freshly prepared and the portions
were generous and there were drinks and a variety of snacks available all day. Midmorning and afternoon snacks were offered to residents. My husbands room was light, modern and comfortable. There was a sensitive mat beside his bed to alert staff if he got out of bed at night. My husband was well cared for and spoken to by name and the kind staff always knew where he was. Should he need long term residential care I would contact Oak View Lodge immediately.

My wife has been nursed in Oakview for nearly three years. She has received excellent care throughout. The home is comfortably and appropriately appointed. The staff are warmly friendly yet the care is not intrusive. There are daily stimulating activiites suited to the differing circumstances of the
residents. In other words Oakview is a well balanced and well managed home.

This Care home is extremely good, with excellent staff and routine. It is clean and tidy. My mum has a very good bright room with great window and furnishings. It is warm or cool as appropriate. The Care staff are very attentive to her needs. Food is well prepared . Very impressed. Due to her age
and health, some activities are beyond Mum. However there is a community feel.

I cannot praise Oakview Lodge staff highly enough. They were wonderful right from the start of my looking for a place for my very ill husband - right through to the end, when he died. We were impressed from the beginning with the care and friendliness the staff exuded - my daughter and I even asked
if we could put our names down for when we need a Care Home. Sadly, they said no. I was kept informed at all times of anything of note, everything was carefully explained and expertly and kindly done. The professionalism of both the Management, the Nursing Staff and the Carer Team was exemplary, and so kindly handled when the end came. The Home itself is very well appointed, kept sparklingly clean and beautifully decorated with lots of
facilities for the residents. I'm so glad my husband spent his last months there. Thank you.

My husband has been on the Nursing floor for over six months now. He has been given consistent, cheerful and loving care and we have never seen any signs of impatience from any of the nurses or carers. He is treated - and valued - as an individual and is encouraged to be as active and engaged as possible,
given his physical challenges.
My family and I particularly like the fact that all members of staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming. The atmosphere is always cheerful and the home is immaculate.

Oakview Lodge Care & Nursing Home is an excellent facility. The rooms are spacious and bright, complete with an ensuite. The staff are very attentive and caring and are always there to help. The home has an extensive and varied set of activities during the week, including a cinema and pub for the residents.

When my parent was admitted to Oakview Lodge, the first impression was that it does feel like a home and not a hospital. The corridors just in and out with bits of furniture and pictures which gives the feeling you're in a house. Looking down the hallways you cannot see lines of doors. The rooms are
very spacious with underfloor heating and ensuite facilities. Reasonable-sized double-glazed windows. The food is very good and the lounge area has lots of space with tea and coffee provided.

This is a beautiful, welcoming home. There is a happy rapport between all staff who are exceptionally helpful and cheerful. The nurses are most caring and have given me the best of assistance after my operation. The ground floor room was clean and comfortable. There could have been more towel rails
and hooks. The lunch and dinner menu always has two choices. If none of the choices appealed I could order something special. However, there was not much guidance on what else could be served. It took me a while to come to grips with it. A good stay!

We are beyond grateful for the extraordinary care my father has received over these last 4 years. This environment goes way beyond the hotel-like facilities that you first encounter. My dad is treated with dignity, love and humour and above all is listened to 24/7. My mother who comes to visit, is also
looked after with grace and subtlety. Neither have ever been pushed into doing anything that doesn’t suit them. Nothing is forced or hurried. These wonderful caregivers answer a calling. It shows in all they do.
Many times we managed to bring our entire family together from all over the globe. We had access to the large dining room for a huge feast. After that, we moved to the pub and loudly played music from our parent's era. We danced, sang, lived and loved through the rest of the day. Throughout, my dad had his diaper changed, his medication given and all needs seen to. This care continues daily. To all of you at Oakview Lodge; Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.549)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.549) out of 10 for Oakview Lodge Care & Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 25 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.549 for Oakview Lodge Care & Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (205 Excellents x 5) + (52 Goods x 4) + (15 Satisfactorys x 3) + (9 Poors x 2) + (5 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 286 Ratings = 4.549
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oakview Lodge Care & Nursing Home is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
