My mother receives excellent care, from her cup of tea after her morning shower to a sensitive 'look in' when she's getting into bed. The carers are polite, respectful and interested in her as a person. The activities are appropriate and inclusive; no one puts pressure on her to join in if she'd rather
read or watch TV in her room.
She is encouraged to be fully independent where practical and her visitors are always made welcome.
There was a period when service in the dinning room was poor but that's been addressed and it is now good.
The quality of meals is a bit hit and miss at present - but I know this is being addressed.

A warm and welcoming environment with a strong commitment to delivering the best care to residents.
Appreciate carers are busy but if those assigned to keeping bedrooms neat and tidy could also water plants, remove dead flowers etc as part of those duties, that would be much appreciated.
The recreational
activities are welcomed and it would be great if more could be done to keep minds and bodies stimulated!
Opportunities for improvement: there has been a noticeable decline in the number of carers and at times ground floor residents seem to be the ones impacted as priority is given to the 2nd and 3rd floors. There is also a frustration that clothing goes missing even though every item in the wardrobe is clearly marked with the room number. This is very upsetting as it's a matter of dignity that all residents should be wearing their own clothes. I have also seen dining areas with food on the floor that has not been cleared away between meals.

The staff where my sister is are great. Much effort to make the residents comfortable and happy. Much entertainment available and activities even though my sister is now unable to join in. Always a smile and a friendly welcome when I arrive.

Staff turnover is very high, always different faces, dementia sufferers need consistency. Personal care is very poor, hair not washed, finger nails always dirty, toenails cut very rarely. Room cleanliness is poor, always fluff and bits of food on the floor, table is always sticky, windowsills dusty.
Communication is difficult with staff, there is a language barrier, unable to understand response. Emails not replied to in a timely manner. Never offered a drink as a visitor, always have to ask for a drink for my mum. My mum is often left with no glasses on, she cannot see without these.

I personally witnessed first-hand the lack of carers in this place. There was not a single day that the elderly residents were not waiting or shouting out for a carer to attend them. Some of the carers who attended my mother were so heavy-handed they left her in agony and in tears. They knew she was
dying but that didn’t matter! In the end, one of the females in our family stayed in the room as they attended to our mother. Do not be fooled by the appearance of this place it looks like a hotel but behind the flaps of paint are horrendous cracks! We ended up sleeping there because I did not believe my mother would have been attended to properly during the night if left alone. I can honestly say that I live with guilt and regret that my wonderful mother spent her final days in that place!

Oakview Lodge Care & Nursing Home is a very clean and welcoming care home which has a hotel feel along with excellent facilities.
Dad was exceptionally well cared for from the minute he arrived. All the staff were kind, caring and considerate, taking time to understand him, his needs and his character,
often going above and beyond for him. Not only did the staff look after Dad so well, they were very kind and supportive to all the family.
A fantastic care home that I would have no hesitation in recommending.

My wife has been cared for at Oakview for 18 months. She is looked after with kindness and respect. She thoroughly enjoys the food, and her needs are met. Staff communicate readily and make me welcome during my visits. The facilities are good; we enjoy Hattie's tea room and the garden.

Overall, extremely satisfied with the care my father-in-law receives. Staff have cared for his medical and emotional needs with compassion, thoughtfulness and great sensitivity when he has been tricky to reach.
Sometimes when we phone, we are unable to speak to anyone and are promised a callback -
this doesn't always happen. We know how busy you all are looking after our loved ones, but a call back would be really valued.
Thank you for all that you do at Oakview; we have the utmost gratitude for your care and support.

Overall, we are happy with Mum's care. Most of the staff are lovely and treat Mum with kindness. I do feel, however, some carers are not as keen on the job and can be a bit sloppy, especially at weekends when it feels there are not enough staff.

Care is good and often very good. Staff are friendly towards relatives, and reception staff are very welcoming. The activities team work hard to provide stimulating experiences for residents.
There are times when language communication with some staff is difficult; this means that representatives have
to rely more heavily on other staff.
Contacting the home by phone is a problem. Phone calls often ring out, and when calls are put through to the correct line, the phone is cut off.

Unfortunately, we have been having problems with the phone lines, but we are working to solve this problem.

The care my brother has received since being in Oakview has been excellent. He is obviously well looked after and cared for,
The nurses will phone if there is any kind of health issue and explain what is being done to treat it. They are all well-informed about his needs and the support he needs. A
lot of empathy and sensitivity are demonstrated by nurses and carers.
Everyone is very welcoming to us as relatives, and always nice to see the friendly reception staff on arrival.

It's been a hectic time for us as a family since Mum was admitted for end-of-life care. However, the nurses and care assistants have been invaluable to my mum. She has been well looked after and is still being looked after. They are very compassionate, caring and professional in discharging their duties.
I can't thank them enough, especially for the kindness shown towards her.

Our mum recently moved into Oakview and seems to have settled in very well. The home seems a lovely, safe and friendly place. It is clean and looks more like a hotel than just a care home. As a family we have been made to feel welcome. The staff seem very friendly to Mum. It is a worrying time when
you have to make the decision to move your parent into a care home, but we think we have made the right choice.

My mother was admitted to the home for end of life care, unfortunately she was only there for just over two weeks. During that time she was cared for with dignity, compassion and as an individual. All the staff were kind and considerate to her and all members of the family. The nursing and medical staff
were a credit to the home, the family were kept aware of and included in any discussions around change in treatment and concerns always listened to. From what I could see the home has wonderful facilities and I am sort of sad that my Mum did not get longer to really enjoy them.

My nan is a resident of this care home and she loves it. As a dementia patient she has come on leaps and bounds. The care staff are so lovely and when we ring to talk to her they are so helpful and never have a problem with letting us speak to her. When we went to see her in December the home is lovely,
her room is beautiful and the staff were so sweet. It was the first time seeing her, as she moved there in November so her seeing with my Mum was brilliant. My Aunty, cousin, my mum and myself feel so at ease knowing she is looked after and cared for, so thank you to all the staff and carers at the home.

Oakview Lodge Care & Nursing Home we’re amazing with the care they provided with my dad who went in on the 4th of August. My dad was very comfortable and was there a short while before he went on end of life care, the dignity and respect that was given to my dad day in day out was exceptional.
