Residents at Ashton Manor Care Home in Lancaster, part of Evermore Care, recently enjoyed a global tea party as part of a themed “8 Sips Around the World” experience.

The residential care home in Lancaster offered residents the opportunity to sample teas and traditional snacks from eight different countries, alongside short videos showcasing each culture. The activity encouraged conversation, social interaction and shared experiences across the home.

At Ashton Manor Care Home, which provides residential and dementia care in Lancaster, activities are designed around individual choice and personal preferences. Residents come from a wide range of backgrounds, and maintaining this sense of identity is an important part of everyday life in the home.

The global tea party reflected this approach, giving residents the freedom to choose what they wanted to try. Some explored new flavours, while others preferred familiar drinks, with everyone supported to take part in a way that suited them.

This focus on choice is particularly important for people living with dementia. Supporting residents to make decisions helps maintain independence, confidence and wellbeing.

Joanne Tyson, Home Manager at Ashton Manor Care Home, said: “Providing high-quality residential and dementia care in Lancaster is about recognising each person as an individual. Activities like this give residents the opportunity to choose what they enjoy and to be part of a shared experience..”

Ashton Manor Care Home in Lancaster continues to deliver meaningful activities that support wellbeing, social connection and person-centred dementia care.
