Residents at Ashton Manor Care Home in Lancaster recently took part in a global tea party, exploring teas, snacks and cultures from around the world.

The activity, “8 Sips Around the World”, saw residents sample drinks and traditional treats from eight different countries. Each country was introduced with short videos, helping to bring the experience to life.

The day created a relaxed and social atmosphere, with residents sitting together, chatting and sharing their thoughts on the different flavours and countries.

Ashton Manor Care Home, part of Evermore Care, provides residential and dementia care in Lancaster, with a strong focus on person-centred support and meaningful activity.

The global tea party was designed to give residents choice in how they took part. Some enjoyed trying new teas and snacks, while others preferred to stick with familiar options and enjoy the videos and conversation.

This approach is especially important for people living with dementia, where maintaining choice, independence and a sense of identity continues to play a key role in overall wellbeing.

Joanne Tyson, Home Manager at Ashton Manor Care Home, said: “Everyone has their own preferences, and that doesn’t change when someone moves into a care home. Activities like this give residents the opportunity to choose what they enjoy and to spend time together in a relaxed way.”

Colleagues joined residents throughout the day, sitting together and supporting people to engage in a way that suited them.

Activities like “8 Sips Around the World” form part of Ashton Manor’s ongoing approach to delivering high-quality residential and dementia care in Lancaster, with a focus on choice, inclusion and everyday wellbeing.
