Westwood Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, recently hosted two heartwarming intergenerational events, bringing together residents and local schoolchildren for Easter-themed craft sessions filled with creativity, laughter, and meaningful connection.
Pupils from St Augustine’s School visited the home, followed by a morning session with Sparken Hill Academy the following day. Across both days, children, residents, staff, and teachers came together to enjoy a variety of Easter crafts in a warm and welcoming environment.
Residents were delighted by the visits, with one teacher from Sparken Hill Academy commenting, “We love coming to Westwood.” The sessions created a vibrant and uplifting atmosphere, with smiles shared across generations as participants worked side by side.
The idea for the events grew from Westwood’s ongoing relationships with nearby schools, reinforcing the home’s commitment to community engagement and intergenerational interaction.
The highlight of the sessions was the genuine connection formed between residents and children, with laughter and conversation flowing naturally throughout. The atmosphere was described as “amazing,” reflecting the positive impact these visits have on everyone involved.
Westwood continues to prioritise meaningful activities that enhance wellbeing and promote social connection, for residents and the wider community.
