A recent visit to Aerospace Bristol became a truly unforgettable experience for residents from Badminton Place, with one very special moment standing out for resident Roy.
Home to the iconic Concorde, the museum offered residents the chance to explore one of the most remarkable achievements in aviation history. For Roy, however, the visit carried an even deeper significance. During his career as an engineer, Roy played a role in designing components for the world-famous aircraft during its development.
Despite contributing to the creation of the fastest commercial passenger plane in the world, Roy had never previously seen Concorde fully assembled in all its glory.
Seeing the aircraft up close proved to be an emotional and deeply meaningful experience. Standing beneath Concorde and taking in the scale and significance of the aircraft, Roy reflected on the moment by saying, “You’ve put an end to my story.”
The visit sparked treasured memories from Roy’s engineering days, with stories, reflections and conversations shared throughout the afternoon with genuine pride and enthusiasm. Before leaving the museum, Roy summed up the day perfectly by punching the air with a smile and declaring, “I have had the best day ever.”
The trip reflects the person-led approach at Badminton Place, where getting to know each resident’s life story, interests, achievements and passions helps shape meaningful experiences and opportunities. Whether revisiting lifelong hobbies, reconnecting with cherished memories or discovering something new, the team believes that care should support people to continue living rich, fulfilling and individual lives.
Experiences such as Roy’s visit to Concorde demonstrate the power of personalised care and the importance of creating moments that inspire joy, conversation, connection and a sense of purpose.
