Residents at Windle Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes group, enjoyed an exciting day out at Garon Park on 21 April 2026, where they had the opportunity to get back on a bike and ride around the track once again.
Families were delighted to see their loved ones taking part in the experience and praised the home for organising such a unique activity. One family member shared how they “could not stop laughing” at the thought of their mum riding a bike again, adding that it showed just how happy she was during the event.
Resident Ethel was one of the stars of the day, proudly saying: “Who would have thought, nearly 96 and I’m riding a bike!”
Libby, Lifestyle Coordinator at Windle Court, said: “It was wonderful to see how much happiness and excitement the bike ride brought to our residents. Activities like this are so important because they help residents stay active and reconnect with things they loved doing when they were younger.”
The idea for the event was inspired by another Runwood Homes care home and proved to be a huge success, creating a lively and uplifting atmosphere filled with laughter, encouragement, and joy.
Windle Court continues to provide meaningful and engaging experiences that support residents’ wellbeing, independence, and happiness while creating lasting memories for both residents and their families.
