Reviews

8.7 Windle Court has a Review Score of 8.7 (8.721)

The Review Score of 8.7 (maximum of 10) for Windle Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 11 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Windle Court in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.392 for Windle Court is calculated as follows: ( (79 Excellents x 5) + (24 Goods x 4) + (26 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 130 Ratings = 4.392

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.329 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Windle Court is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 15.2 positive Reviews (76 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 5 Reviews ÷ 15.2 Target = 0.329

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

As my husband has only been a resident for 2 weeks, my experience here has been limited but has been excellent so far.
The staff have been very busy, very good with his care and settled him in.

My mother has been living in Windle Court for 6 months. She was very agitated when she arrived but with help and kindness from the excellent staff, she has accepted that this is her home. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and I cannot praise too highly how gentle and patient they are. Even the domestic staff know the residents by name and stop and chat to them. Family are welcome to visit at any time and are also invited to many of the activities taking place. Two full-time events staff ensure that there are activities morning and afternoon including visits from children, animals and days out. My mother went to her first music festival this year! One organised especially for dementia sufferers. The food is excellent and plentiful, there are no agency staff and the new manager is very present. She listens to any problems, takes the comments on board and makes the required changes.

My father was only a resident at Windle Court for a short period of time and we were new to this situation and concerned about how he would settle in the home. We need not have worried at all, as from the first time we visited the home, we were made very welcome and all the staff were extremely happy and helpful which put our minds at rest immediately. Sadly he was only a resident for 5 days before passing away. Again the staff were so supportive to us a family and they treated dad with the utmost dignity, respect and professionalism. While a resident at Windle Court, my father was the most content he had been for some months. We would have no hesitation in recommending Windle Court to anyone in the same situation.

My mother stayed in the above care home and thoroughly enjoyed her stay.
Praising the staff for their professionalism and friendly manner.
This is the first time she has said she would like to go back next time I go away which is, indeed, praise in itself.
It is a shame she is not guaranteed a respite room here.

Windle Court has been my mother's home for the last three years. Residents are all encouraged to spend time with others and join in activities, but if they are like my Mum and prefer their own company and like to stay in their own rooms, that's fine too. There is always someone popping in, carers, the laundry ladies and cleaners all offering a cheery chat. Mum has a keyworker who has been with her from the beginning. She is marvellous with Mum and always has time to listen to any worries I may have. I trust them completely. As Mum's dementia has got worse she can be moody and difficult. This was not her nature before the dementia and it has been hard to watch her deterioration. However, I have only ever seen patience and kindness towards her. I am kept informed of any problems and health issues and fully involved with any changes to her care. There have been a few management changes recently which is a shame, as it can unsettle the staff, but in my opinion, this has not affected the high standard of care offered to my mother.

Due to constant changes of staff and the use of agency staff, I feel that the standard of care has deteriorated. I have no problem with permanent staff, and feel for them as the hours of work are horrendous, sometimes without a break, and the staff ratio for residents is really inadequate.

Windle does provide basic physical care needs. However, mental stimulation and conversation is hit and miss, mainly miss!
Our mum went into care at 101 years of age, she is now 103.
In Windle Mum suffered a fall and broken femur. She recovered well from surgery. Later she suffered a stroke, she recovered from this also. Mum was mentally well before going into care, although physically she is immobile, deaf with poor sight. She is now getting forgetful, depressed and a little confused and she needs mental stimulation to help her. Conversation is lacking, most carers do not have the time to attract Mum's attention and speak to her. However, there are a few carers who take the time with her. The CTM and two carers are really good, but they are not on duty every day.
Mum stays in her room; her wheelchair is too uncomfortable to sit in for long. Hence events in the home pass her by. She misses out on the manicures in the lounges, so her daughter in law does this now. On rare occasions an event is bought into her room, such as visiting animals, this really does help her.

My mother has just passed away, 10 May 2016. Her care in Windle Court has been absolutely excellent, wonderful team of people, caring and tending for her. It made her passing for us so much easier to bear.

The staff have been extremely helpful and caring in settling Dad into his new home. After living with me for 12 years it has been upsetting us as a family that we can no longer care for Dad/Granddad. Everyone has been kind to us all over the last few days to ensure he feels at home and has already made a new friend! So many thanks to Windle Court!

In my opinion Windle Court has gone downhill, but after a couple of meetings with management and regional directors, lots of discussions, hopefully it will pick up in the not so distant future. I have discussed a few issues and they are being looked at.

Very happy and satisfied with the staff and home. Not satisfied with the level of care on Saturday and Sunday. There always seems to be a shortage of carers. Very happy with the room, the facilities and the weekday staff.
