The Sikh Jewel Award was given to those who brought honour to their community and country through their lives and by living up to the ideals of their Gurus. The first award went to Mr Ravinder Singh Gidar, who has made significant contributions to the care of the elderly across the UK. At the age of 24, Ravi started his Pharmacy business. He is the Founder and Managing Director of Gold Care Homes. With the support of his brother, he has grown this business to become one of leading providers of care for the elderly. Currently, Gold Care Homes incorporates 24 care homes and offers accommodation for approximately 1,250 residents. Honoured to receive the Sikh Jewel Award, Ravi spoke about the Sikhs belief in integration, and its importance in the Sikh community. He also spoke about the Sikh families and the way how they look after their seniors.
