Review of

Hillside Nursing Home

from P H (Friend of Resident) published on 3 February 2026
Submitted via Postal Card • Report
Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
My friend, who has been a resident for nearly three years, is well looked after, especially during the day. Night care has and can be unsatisfactory when getting the resident up, wash and dressing. Staff are kind and patient, quick to respond.
All aspects of care are carried out well and quietly. No
negative comments on management or day staff. Night staff often are rude and unhelpful, according to the service user.
Reply from Maribelle Law, Home Manager at Hillside Nursing HomeThank you for taking the time to review our home. It is and has been our pleasure to care for your friend for the past three years and I am pleased to hear that you find staff kind and patient. I am sorry to hear that you feel that the quality of our night care team is inconsistent and I will take this forward to ensure that we are consistently delivering the high standards we expect. Best wishes, Maribelle

My mothers stay at Kingfisher House was sadly short but throughout her stay I could not fault the way she was cared for. She was looked after with dignity and respect despite being extremely poorly. During the final hours of her life, when I was with her throughout. The care, empathy and professionalism
from the team both during the day and night was exemplary and I am personally very grateful to everyone who looked after her.
Reply from Alistair Rayner, Home Manager at Kingfisher House Care HomeThank you for your heartfelt review. It was our privilege to bring you both comfort at such a difficult time. Alistair and team

My husband has been well looked after during his 2 years at Hillside. It has become his home and the staff make me feel like part of the family. They are very attentive and caring making sure his needs are met. I am updated regularly on anything concerning my husband. I also find the office staff very
welcoming and helpful.

We are very happy with the care given to our cherished mum at Hillside. The compassion, dignity and patience shown to our mum over the last 6 years has been exemplary. We have a good relationship with Carers, Nursing staff and Management alike, and feel reassured in her care during these extremely difficult
times for the family.

My mother has been a resident at Hillside for 6 years now with declining health however, during all that time the one thing that we haven't had to worry about is the level of care that she receives at Hillside. Family visit at least twice a week and she is always well cared for, in her own clothes
and clean - we have always been very impressed by the level of care she receives and how she is seen as person with dignity and choices. The staff respond very well to changes in her condition and are constantly updating her care plan. We are very happy with Hillside and its staff.

My cousin has been at Baugh House Care Centre for just over a year, and I honestly cannot praise the staff enough. Because of the severity of her dementia, no other care homes were able to fully support her needs, but the exceptional team at Baugh House have done a wonderful job. The care, patience
and kindness they show every day truly make a difference.
From the engaging activities and tasty, well-prepared meals to the warm, welcoming environment and spotless facilities, everything shows how much they care. My whole family feels at ease visiting her now. What once felt like a difficult situation has become a comforting and positive experience.
Knowing my cousin is being treated with dignity and respect gives us great peace of mind, allowing us to focus on spending quality moments with her rather than worrying when we leave.
Thank you to all the wonderful staff at Baugh House Care Centre. You make such a difference.

My late mother died in December at The New Deanery right up to the end of her life she had excellant care and compassion. She was treated with respect and kindness. We as a family had confidence in her care and we felt that her carers were like part of her family. She enjoyed her food and had loving
help as she was unable to feed herself. All in all I want to say a big thanks you to all staff and management.
