Arrived at home to see my mother being fed lunch, Friday so lovely sausage and chips, mum ate it all and was offered condiments she very much enjoyed and commented how lovely it was. She was nicely dressed, clean, well kept and happy, bravo first class service.

Firstly I wanted to say how fantastic the family BBQ was. We all really enjoyed it & it was lovely for my Grandsons to see Grandad out in the fresh air enjoying the Alpacas & singer. The team did an amazing job. Also a thankyou for letting us have the cinema room for a birthday tea and for decorating
the room with balloons and banners. It was very much appreciated and we had a lovely time celebrating his birthday. Many thanks for all you do.

I am exceptionally pleased with my 100 year old mother's care. Everyone, including office staff, knows her ways and always says hello in the corridors. They encourage her to join in and allow her to sleep on her terms. Food is brilliant, well thought out and choices. Lovely patios for summer. Mum loves
nutritional milkshakes staff make. I know Mum is well cared for. Thank you everyone.
Reply from Nichola Hughes, Home Manager at Halcyon DaysThank you for sharing such lovely feedback. It's wonderful to hear that your mother is so well cared for and that you feel reassured knowing she's happy and supported.

My wife entered care direct from hospital. She has undefined dementia. The entry process went smoothly and she appears to have settled well. Regular staff seem to be very professional and caring but our family have noticed that she is less happy at weekends and holiday times. Could this be because weekend
staff are different and less dedicated to care of residents? Perhaps they are less patient. Meals seem to be well prepared and I understand she is eating well.

Always friendly and helpful to my sister in law . We are regularly updated on her welfare .
My only worry is the laundry! Clothes missing although all named . Other residents clothes put in my sister in law's wardrobe, which I do return . I do think a bit more care could be taken with this .
Overall
I have no major complaints. Thank you .

Mum moved to the home in early 2023. The staff were so understanding and patient, and we soon had the 'old mum' back for a while. She wasn't the easiest of residents; her strong will and wry humour were understood too. When the end came in late 2025, the end-of-life care was the best we could have wished
for. All of the staff were so professional and caring. All her family will be forever grateful for the care Mum received in those last couple of weeks. Thank you, Martins House and all the staff!
Reply from Julie Farmer, Home Manager at Martins HouseThank you for sharing such a heartfelt review about your mum's time at Martins House.

It's lovely to hear that the team took the time to understand her personality, her sense of humour and what made her uniquely her. We know that those relationships are so important, and it's wonderful to know that you were able to see glimpses of the "old mum" after she moved in.

We're also grateful for your kind words about the care and support provided throughout her time with us.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience.

Wishing you all the best,
Julie

Autumn Vale Care Centre

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
The care given by the care staff was always good. Room cleanliness, however, was not always good and overall the home's appearance looked quite tired. My friend found the food's variety limited and the quality variable. What was described as supper was very predicatable and included an odd combination
of (always) sandwiches and another item such as a sausage roll or chicken dippers, for instance. Most of the staff did not have English as their first language so it could be hard work communicating sometimes. The outdoor areas were limited and access to them quite difficult from Peach unit. In the last twelve months staffing levels often seemed minimal which impacted on my friend's sense of well-being at times. However, since my friend had no family nor no one particular person to champion her cause, I felt that overall she was well cared for and that the staff were friendly, helpful and attentive; always trying to help.
Reply from Prarthana Bhandari, General Manager at Autumn Vale Care CentreThank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. Firstly, thank you for acknowledging the excellent care our team provided for your friend, and for scoring this aspect of our service 5 out of 5. This means a lot to our team who work very hard to ensure the wellbeing of all of our residents.
Feedback is always welcomed and I acknowledge your comments regarding the inconsistency you felt was present in some areas. I will make contact with you separately to discuss this in more detail so that I am able to address any issues that do not meet the high quality standards we set for ourselves.
Thank you once again,
Prarthana

Mum has settled in here so well . We are so pleased about that. It is such a relief to us that we know she is well taken care of and that her conditions are monitored closely . It's a lovely community - calm , clean and well organised. I can't praise the staff enough - the care and respect given
to all of the residents is second to none. There are daily activities and plenty to keep residents engaged with each other and also in their environment . It's such a welcoming place . Thank you so much

We recently had to move my mother here due to last home she was in closing to refurbishment. We were very concerned how the disruption would affect her as she has Alzheimer's and gets very confused. It genuinely couldn't have gone better. She settled in very quick and seems very happy here. The staff
are all lovely and respectful, from cleaning to nursing staff. It is very clean, and you can see the residents are their no. 1 priority.
Happy Mum, happy me!

We're here not just for our wonderful residents, but for their loved ones too, and we know how important that support can be.
