My father was admitted to The New Deanery after a bad fall which left him virtually imobile. He was just short of his 100th birthday and up until this time looked after himself at home. I cannot believe how well he has been looked after from senior management right through all the staff to the housekeepers
with no exception and the home is spotlessly clean everywhere we are now 7 weeks down the line father has agreed to become a resident thankfully. He has said it would be a job to kind fault and that 'he feels safe here'.
Reply from Rachel Marlow, Home Manager at The New DeaneryThank you for taking the time to share this, it's really lovely to hear.
We understand what a significant change this must have been for your father, especially after being so independent, so it's wonderful to know he has settled in well and now feels safe and comfortable with us. Hearing that from him directly means a great deal.
Your kind comments about the whole team are truly appreciated and will be shared across the home. Thank you again for your thoughtful feedback.

Visited for my grandads 100th birthday party. Room, facilities, food and carers were excellent. My grandad had a great time and was the next best thing to having it at home. I feel happy my grandad is safe and well looked after.

Have been to the home three times. The first time I went to my uncles room, the other times I saw him in the lounge. The last time was a private party. I have been impressed by the cleanliness of the home and friendly staff.

My mum was a resident in the New Deanery for nearly 2 years until she died from dementia in February 2026. I can't praise the home and its staff highly enough for the way they looked after my mum. They became my mums second family and cared for he so well, going above and beyond. I could tell that
she was loved by many of them . As relatives you also become part of their family and they look after you as much as the resident. This was particularly evident when my mother was end of life when they gave me great support and comfort. My family and I were also very touched that some of mums carers attended her funeral.
The home was always spotlessly clean and smelled fresh whenever I visited, all of the staff were very friendly and always said hello and had time for a chat. The food was great too. Mums room was lovely light and airy and spacious , looking over the gardens, which are lovely to walk around.
New Deanery gave me the peace of mind that mum was cared for when I was not there

We found St Marys court a wonderful caring , clean stay for my father while he was there.
Staff were attentive and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Above all , staff showed they really did care about the residents and all residents were happy despite all their health troubles.
The food was
of a good standard and plentiful too serving food regularly throughout the day. Plenty of entertainment was provided to residents from various singing music groups to general arts crafts and jigsaw afternoon s.
Also super security in reception ensuring that loved ones would not be able to go out unless accompanied by staff members

I was deeply saddened that my uncle experienced such sub standard care whilst in this home.
I do not feel his needs were understood nor supported.
It has taken me this long since his death in September to be able to write this review.
Only a couple of staff showed him kindness and compassion.
Others rolled their eyes at him, did not know what medication he was on and did not know how to help him with his physiotherapy. All this for someone who was dying from untreated urosepsis and possible dementia.
The standard of care was shocking. Unhygienic rooming standards were often discovered by my family and reported to the home itself.
In the last few months of his life, he experienced a complete lack of care from an institution supposedly awarded for its care standards. I would not want for anyone to suffer the way did in this home.

Now this is a place that truly cares!
The staff are so kind and cannot do enough for mum. She moved in last year and considering she came from hospital, she's a new woman. She's truly cared for and always looks well presented. Mums dementia makes it hard for us to talk much but the staff keep me updated
and are always so welcoming.
The pink ladies are so good and work hard to reminisce and chat with mum. Mum doesn't have an en-suite so it's not always easy for her but the staff always help.
Management have recently changed and so far they have been brilliant.
Thank you all so much for your hard work.

My late mother died in December at The New Deanery right up to the end of her life she had excellant care and compassion. She was treated with respect and kindness. We as a family had confidence in her care and we felt that her carers were like part of her family. She enjoyed her food and had loving
help as she was unable to feed herself. All in all I want to say a big thanks you to all staff and management.

My father was cared for at St Mary's for 5 1/2 weeks after coming out of hospital, following an infection. We were so impressed with the care and compassion, as dad failed, and was less ad less able to do anything for himself. The end of life care was personal and sympathetic. A great number of the
staff went over and above their call of duty. Thank you.

Both my in -laws have settled in very well. All staff, friendly and approachable. Nothing is too much trouble. Super home from home cooked meals, all their needs are catered for. Trips out available of which my in- laws enjoyed a recent trip to the pub. Mother in -law has enjoyed being pampered with
weekly visits to the hair salon within the home. Options for other agencies to come into The New Deanery eg chiropodist are available too.
All in all The New Deanery has a lovely welcoming atmosphere.

My husband was in the new deanery for one week respite whilst I was in hospital. The staff were very friendly and cheerful and couldn't do enough to help. My husband enjoyed his stay and talked about football nonstop which is his real love (after me)!! It was like a holiday for him, the food was very
good (delicious). He will be back in the future as he loves going there. I was very happy to leave him there as I knew he would be cared for.
