I arrived at the facility at 12.30 pm on Friday 20th February 2026 to visit my Stepmother whom I visit every few months as I live away from London. I was led to her room by a member of staff who was very polite. My Stepmother told me that she was very happy at the "House", and she had everything she
needed. Her room was very clean and whilst visiting a member of staff brought her lunch and later a desert.
I had a chat with The General Manager in his office, who was very impressive and informative and was well versed as to the mental health situation of my Stepmother.
Generally, I was very happy of her care in the facility.
Reply from Emmanuel Torsoo, Home Manager at Alan Morkill HouseThank you for taking the time to share your visit to Alan Morkill House. It's really reassuring to hear that your stepmother feels happy and settled, and that she feels she has everything she needs.

Mum has been in for a couple of weeks now, and our first impression is one of a friendly caring environment. The office team as well as the HCAs have looked after her, and if needed ensured that she is safe, at the same time saying no when necessary. Mum is very independently minded and appears to be

My sister-in-law has been a resident in Baugh House for nearly two years, and the family has been very pleased with the kindness and compassion shown by all the staff. At the beginning, and as a result of her dementia, she presented with some fairly challenging behaviour at times, but the staff were
very patient with her and were able to channel her energy into more positive pursuits. The manager, Alejandro, has gone out of his way, together with the staff, to find out about her interests and hobbies so that appropriate activities can be enjoyed by her.
All the staff are easy to talk to, ranging from the welcome from the receptionist to the interactions with the medical staff and management. My sister-in-law is settled at Baugh House and whilst she's very pleased to see family members, she's never sad when we leave. Baugh House is her home and she's very happy there.

This is a difficult review to write. In the beginning, the care at Lansdowne was very good. However, since the home changed ownership and the care home manager changed, standards declined rapidly. The majority of nurses and carers truly cared about the residents but there were problems with some of
the staff, and the way in which emergencies were dealt with, especially at night. Quite often, my friend was left in her room alone, even during activity time. Also, the food was not very good, sometimes just a sandwich for main meal. These issues were raised with the management team; and while an effort was made to improve matters, many troubling issues still remained. When our concerns were not fully resolved, the management solution was to evict a frail, vulnerable 96-year-old, arguing that they could not meet high expectations, despite promoting themselves as specialists in nursing care and complex dementia. I am sad to see such a decline at Lansdowne, and take no joy in posting this.

When we first came across Lansdowne, we were impressed by the welcoming mangement and lovely staff team; and for the first couple of months, we were happy with the care my mother received. Sadly, however, the ownership/management changed and, with it, the attitude towards the care of the residents.
Its
not often a care home evicts a resident because a relative has raised concerns about the care on offer. But that is just what happened to my very elderly, very frail mum. This care home, promoting itself as specialist in dementia and nursing, evicted her while she was in hospital, leaving her nowhere to go, and extending her hospital stay by two weeks while we found a more welcoming care home, where she is now being well-cared for.
The staff team are (mostly) still lovely; but this new management have made it difficult for anyone to raise concerns about the care their relatives receive, without risk of eviction, and are slowly eroding everything that made Lansdowne the place it was.

My mum was at Baugh House for just over four years. In that time many of the staff became friends with her and enjoyed hearing about her childhood on the farm. I cannot fault the excellent care and attention that she received, as nothing was too much trouble for the staff. I would fully recommend Baugh
House for your love one.

My mother is a resident at Acton Care Centre, and overall her care has been excellent. The staff are consistently kind, respectful and attentive, and she is always treated with dignity. Communication with family has been good, and we feel confident that she is safe and well cared for at all times. The
centre is clean, well run and has a calm, welcoming atmosphere. Although she has limited ability to participate in activities, staff take her out in a wheelchair to the communal area so she can be included in daily life. The care home offers additional services, such as a manicure service, which we pay for, and the staff wash her hair. These make a difference. The only minor drawback is the size of the room, which can feel cramped when more than 2 family members visit at the same time. We cannot really comment on value for money as we have no direct comparison with other care homes, but based on our experience standard of care and staff commitment has been excellent.
Reply from Welmar Patarata, Home Manager at Acton Care CentreThank you for sharing your experience of Acton Care Centre. It's really lovely to hear that your mother is being cared for with such kindness and respect, and that you feel confident she is safe and well looked after. It's especially nice to hear that staff make the effort to take her into the communal areas so she can still be part of daily life as we know it's those small, thoughtful actions that can make such a difference.
We also appreciate you mentioning the room size, and we value that honest feedback. Thank you again for taking the time to leave such considered comments. It truly means a lot to us!

I am entirely content with the level of care given to my brother by all staff at the home. It seems to me to be a warm and friendly environment for all the residents, and I have heard nothing from other people to change that view. On a slightly critical note, I am glad that the home decided not to go
ahead with a proposed new policy of residents having to see their visitors solely in their rooms, not the lounge. Common sense prevailed.

My lovely Mum was looked after so well at Hillside Nursing Home. Mum was there for a year and a half and was always treated with such dignity and respect. She was always clean and tidy and her room was spacious and clean. The care was evident in the way that the lovely staff treated Mum. Last week
Mum deteriorated quite quickly and sadly passed on the 4th February. Mum was kept so comfortable by the home during her last days.
My Dad visited Mum every day that she was at Hillside, except for 2 weeks when he had an operation. He was always made to feel welcome as was I. Myself and Dad were always kept up to date with Mum's care.
Hillside is so supportive of residents' families/friends in my opinion and it is a happy Care Home.
I cannot thank Hillside enough for all that they did for my Mum x
Reply from Maribelle Law, Home Manager at Hillside Nursing HomeThank you for sharing your experience of Hillside.
