Hillside Nursing Home

from P H (Friend of Resident) published on 3 February 2026
Submitted via Postal Card • Report
Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
My friend, who has been a resident for nearly three years, is well looked after, especially during the day. Night care has and can be unsatisfactory when getting the resident up, wash and dressing. Staff are kind and patient, quick to respond.
All aspects of care are carried out well and quietly. No
negative comments on management or day staff. Night staff often are rude and unhelpful, according to the service user.
Reply from Maribelle Law, Home Manager at Hillside Nursing HomeThank you for taking the time to review our home. It is and has been our pleasure to care for your friend for the past three years and I am pleased to hear that you find staff kind and patient. I am sorry to hear that you feel that the quality of our night care team is inconsistent and I will take this forward to ensure that we are consistently delivering the high standards we expect. Best wishes, Maribelle

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mother has been a resident at Hillside for 6 years now with declining health however, during all that time the one thing that we haven't had to worry about is the level of care that she receives at Hillside. Family visit at least twice a week and she is always well cared for, in her own clothes
and clean - we have always been very impressed by the level of care she receives and how she is seen as person with dignity and choices. The staff respond very well to changes in her condition and are constantly updating her care plan. We are very happy with Hillside and its staff.

Baugh House

Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My cousin has been at Baugh House Care Centre for just over a year, and I honestly cannot praise the staff enough. Because of the severity of her dementia, no other care homes were able to fully support her needs, but the exceptional team at Baugh House have done a wonderful job. The care, patience
and kindness they show every day truly make a difference.
From the engaging activities and tasty, well-prepared meals to the warm, welcoming environment and spotless facilities, everything shows how much they care. My whole family feels at ease visiting her now. What once felt like a difficult situation has become a comforting and positive experience.
Knowing my cousin is being treated with dignity and respect gives us great peace of mind, allowing us to focus on spending quality moments with her rather than worrying when we leave.
Thank you to all the wonderful staff at Baugh House Care Centre. You make such a difference.

The facilities are comfortable and well looked after, and activity room is always a nice place to spend time and socialise. Most of all, the staff are kind, respectful and professional in everything they do. They make me feel safe, supported and at home
here. The only area that could be improved is answering the call bell a little more quickly at times. Other than that, I am very pleased with my experience here.

My experience of visiting to see my son at Acton Care Centre for many years has always been wonderful, it truly is a very caring place from the management, the nurses, carers, reception and also the cleaners and maintenance, everyone is so lovely and helpful when needed.

My mother in law has been a resident here since October. Since, we have been very happy with the level of care she has received. The care staff and nurses have been very attentive and accommodating to the families and patients requests. We have been satisfied with the communication and updates we have
received.

My friend came to the home in 2023. The carers were of the highest calibre and very efficient in looking after her, and could easily train to be a nurse.
The manager was approachable and helpful. The food was good, and the ground floor was always clean.
My friend did not attend many activities,
but they have an activities person who looks after these daily routines. The patient was treated with dignity. The place was secure. The care was excellent.
