Care home manager and staff extremely helpful and attentive. Assesments thorough and easy. Rooms are spacious and clean. Safe and secure environment, especially for dementia patients. Overall a wonderful experience for my mother, the staff were extremely patient when she moved in helping her adapt.

The staff at Burrows House are extremely friendly and care for my aunt with exceptional kindness, understanding and attention. They go above and beyond to support their residents and to engage them in uplifting and inspiring activities. The highlight of my visit today was a St Patrick's Day party, where
all of the residents were involved and the staff expended endless amounts of energy to make the occasion a wonderful event for everyone present. But perhaps most importantly, in spite of all my aunt's frailties she feels safe, secure and happy there.
Reply from Maryam Timamy, General Manager at Burrows HouseThank you for sharing such a lovely review. It's wonderful to hear how well your Aunt is cared for and that she feels safe, happy and supported at Burrows House.
We're so pleased you were able to join the St Patrick's Day celebrations, it was a fantastic day and a great example of how much thought and energy the team put into creating meaningful moments for our wonderful residents. It's always even more special when family and friends can be part of those occasions too.
Your kind words about our team's care and support mean a great deal to us all here. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience.
Best wishes,
Maryam

My brother and I viewed three different care
Homes local to us. We viewed burrows house last and made our decision right away,
Staff are all extra caring including the reception staff and mum appears reasonably happy during the transition period. Top marks

My mother has been resident in Burrows House for about three years now. I do not live locally but I am able to visit every couple of months. My sister does live nearby and visits the home at least once per week. In all our dealings with the staff a Burrows house we have seen nothing but a considerate
and caring attitude. At the time we chose Burrows house for my mother we considered other bigger, glossier and probably better equipped homes. We were completely swayed by the warmth and kindness of the staff.
My mother is very frail in body and mind . She has very little capability for enjoyment and she needs care and kindness above all else. Every member of staff I have dealt with at Burrows House provides this care willingly and sincerely. I have great respect for them all.

Mum had dementia and was only in the home for 15 months before she passed away but in those months she was happy, very well cared for and as a family we all had peace of mind that she was in a safe place. The staff are wonderful, every single one of them, and so friendly. They make you feel you are
part of a big family. I'd like to thank them on behalf of myself and my family, we would have been lost without you

My mother was admitted to Burrows after she broke her hip for a 6 week period of winter resilience. When she completed this period she was assessed to decide whether to go home or to remain. She chose to stay at Burrows and for the next 6 years was supported to live her best life despite living with
dementia and increasing fragility. Thanks to everyone at Burrows for helping Mum in her final years.

Staff went above and beyond (as they always do) but this particular day, was my mum's 90th b.day and they gave us use of the common room and decorated it and staff made sure my mums hair had been cut and coloured. She looked lovely. She's very happy there, she's safe, she's clean and looked after very
well. All staff go above and beyond there to care for the residents including my mother. And that is from management, down to carers and kitchen staff.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.725)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.725) out of 10 for Burrows House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 27 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.725 for Burrows House is calculated as follows: ( (238 Excellents x 5) + (69 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 316 Ratings = 4.725
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Burrows House is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 54 registered maximum number of service users is 10.8, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
