Lovely friendly home. Would like to see more activities being done for brain stimulation, some puzzles, or magazines to read would be nice. The residents are usually in the tv room when I visit and most of them are sleeping.

My wife has now been a resident of Burrows House for six weeks following the deterioration of her dementia. The staff have been exemplary in helping her settle in and I have consistently found them helpful, professional and proactive. My wife has responded to their upbeat and positive approach.

When my children decided it was time to put their dad (my husband) into a care home, I was heartbroken, but I knew it was for the best I did not visit my husband for a while as I wanted him to settle. He could not get used to it at first and would ask why I was leaving him in a room he was not used to. He is now settled and I am pleased with the care he is receiving. The carers are very good with him, they love him to bits. Some days he makes them laugh, another day he could be a pain, but overall care is excellent.

Sadly, I had to put my very close friend in here with dementia at the young age of 70. He was very confused and had been living here almost a year now, but within weeks/months had settled into his room.

It took him a while to adjust to living with dementia and his ways as he had always lived on his own for the past 30 years. As you can imagine, this was difficult. However, the members of staff made him feel welcome and kept on enticing him out of his room. No matter his mood. Now he dances with staff and actually eats and dines with the other residents, he has settled very comfortably into his surroundings. The staff are happy, warm and very friendly, they are amazing at their job, each and every one of them. Burrows House is welcoming to residents, family, friends and all visitors and I have seen this with all the residents. The home is very clean. Overall, I believe this to be a comfortable, friendly care home with lovely staff and service.

Burrows House is not the best looking place, a bit tired, but that is not everything. It is about people and the people are great, very caring and helpful. The staff and management are always willing to talk if you have any concerns. I think that I was very lucky to get a place for Mum there.

My husband's first cousin entered Burrows House in November 2020 during the second lockdown. I was only allowed to see her through an open window and then for half hour in the day room. On my very last visit, a week before she died, I was allowed to see her in her bedroom. I was very grateful for that. Therefore, I am unable to comment on some aspects. However, overall, all the staff were kind and competent.

My mum has been in Burrows House since 2019 and we (my dad and sister) have been very impressed and happy with the care my mum has received. Ever since day one, all of the staff have been very friendly to me, my dad and sister and always take care of my mum. My mum is always happy when we visit which is a testament to the brilliant, caring staff of Burrows House.

My mother arrived at Burrows House in 2019 as a very frail 99-year-old who was in the early stage of dementia. Loss of appetite and not drinking properly and unfortunately hadn't experienced the best of a homecare plan that involved 4 visits per day. Within a month of moving into Burrows House, it was obvious that the compassionate care she instantly received was having a huge effect on her well-being. She was eating and drinking regularly, putting on weight, and regained a healthy skin colour which replaced the sallow grey complexion she had had for the previous few years. Gone were the tearful days of loneliness, now her days are filled with care and company from fellow residents. I cannot speak highly enough of the caring staff that have been so involved in ensuring that her twilight years have been full of care and compassion.

Thanks to the staff and managers are due on behalf of my mother who spent the last 18 months of her life at Burrows House. She was cared for in a kind, respectful way, she loved her food and had plenty to eat. It was the 1:1 conversations with staff and other residents that really mattered to her; I am grateful to the home for providing a safe and caring environment.

My aunt has been living at Burrows House for over 2 years now. The home is run very well by the manager and her dedicated staff 5-stars. My aunt values and traditions are recognised and respected. She is treated with care and dignity. When I visit I always feel the warm atmosphere and all the staff are friendly and caring, it is like one big family. The last 18 months have been difficult with the Covid Pandemic but the staff are always welcoming with a smile on their faces.

Thank you to the manager and her team.

My dad has recently moved from Burrows house after being there for three years, it was meant to be a stop-gap but after only a couple of days dad settled in so well I was happy and comfortable with everything the care the food etc, there wasn't any need to move him.
In this new home, it just doesn't feel the same it hasn't got that home from home feeling about it.
At Burrows even the laundry and cleaning staff are brilliant too they use to give my dad a duster to go around with them so he felt like he was helping, he loved that.
I used to get tea and a biscuit as well??

We will miss you all at Burrows so thank you so much from my dad and me for all the care, kindness and for being such a hardworking great team. x

My mother was accepted into Burrows House on an emergency placement in April 2021. Whilst it was not the easiest of transitions for us due to lack of commonplace information, around Covid19 restrictions, the carers and other members of staff throughout Burrows House have all been amazingly welcoming and helpful.
Mum is now on a long-term placement and I love the fact that there is continuity of carers and that my dad and I are treated in a respectful but friendly manner.
I find all of the team at Burrows House easy to speak with and if I have any questions they are responded to almost immediately.

My mum tells me "They are all lovely here and cannot do enough for me". This in turn makes me feel at ease knowing that she is being well looked after.

I cannot express enough the wonderful care my mother had. The staff were amazing, working in a very well run environment that came with dignity and love. I was always treated as part of the big family and always felt welcome, that is so reassuring when your loved one has to go into care. It’s the staff; those who I initially met on my first visit to the home were so warm and welcoming. Obviously I was a bit overwhelmed by the whole process leading up to having to find a care home for my dad. The staff I met when I came to take a look at Burrows House set me at ease. They showed me around the home and explained details to me. Throughout my father’s whole stay I was kept informed of every detail.

On my visits, I became close with a few staff members and their chats and interactions with me and my dad still warm my heart till this day. My dad has sadly now passed but I know in the twilight of his life he was in the best place to be cared for and all his needs were taken care of.

My aunt has been with Burrows House for nearly five years and has thrived under the care of the manager and her team. My aunt is always clean and tidy as is her room, the domestic staff do a great job ensuring the home is nice and fresh.
The kitchen staff ensure appetising food is served. The care staff are particularly good ensuring my aunt is well cared for and her needs are met and quite often going above and beyond their duties.
The manager and her team do their best to ensure important dates are celebrated with as many residents as possible taking part and the home is decorated quite often with items the residents have been able to partake in making.
As a family, we have been able to host/celebrate our aunt's birthday with other residents joining in and have it a great time either eating or dancing or just sitting and singing along.

A big thank-you to all at Burrows House.

Our mum was at Burrows House for 4-months until she passed away in December. Most of the visits had to be window visits, telephone or video calls due to covid. We had only brief contact with the carers/nurses during these visits/calls, but our impression was that Mum was being very well cared for. Due to her deteriorating health, I was able to spend some time with Mum in her room. I was very pleased to be able to meet some of the home staff and see how well they were looking after Mum and caring for her. The staff seemed very happy and extremely caring. The family could take a lot of comfort during this difficult time knowing that Mum had such wonderful people looking after her and making her as comfortable as possible.
