My brother was moved from hospital to Amy Woodgate House in July 2025. He was a very frail and vulnerable person who had been isolated at home for a number of years. Declining health necessitated the move into a care home. Together with other family members we couldn't have been more pleased with the
level of care Amy Woodgate House provided. His health gradually improved and he was no longer isolated. The staff are extremely caring and kind, and took time to engage with him and facilitate making him feel very much at home. He expressed how much he enjoyed living there.
The environment is bright, modern, clean and well maintained. Menus for meals rotated so there was always a good choice of well prepared nutritious and appetising food.
Staff always answered telephone calls promptly. Unfortunately his needs changed to nursing care and it became necessary for our brother to move. We are very grateful for the excellent care and support provided and would recommend Amy Woodgate Hse.
Reply from Olasunkanmi Olayanju, Home Manager at Amy Woodgate HouseThank you for taking the time to share such thoughtful feedback about your brother's time at Amy Woodgate House.

We understand what a significant change this must have been for both him and your family, so it means a great deal to hear that he felt happy, supported and truly at home with us. It's especially lovely to know that, after such a difficult period, he was able to regain confidence, enjoy companionship and express how much he enjoyed living here.

Your kind words about the care, kindness and support shown by our team means so much to us. We're grateful to have been part of your brother's journey and wish him and your family all the very best.

Best wishes,
Ola

My mother had been a resident at Amy Woodgate for many years up until she sadly passed away in December 2025. I can honestly say that I cannot fault the care provided to her, especially as her health deteriorated in her last 9-12 months. The Manager and Assistant Manager and Team Leads have always been
excellent, as were the more hands on Care Team on her unit. They all knew my mother well and everything they did was with her comfort and wellbeing in mind. The activities team are very proactive, providing a busy and diverse programme for everyone and would adapt accordingly as my mother became less able. The kitchen team were amazingly thoughtful, especially in the 2-3 months before she died. They would do everything possible to modify or change my mother's meals as her appetite declined. I have seen the House Keeping Team, not just keeping the home tidy and laundry up to date, but engaging with the residents. It really does feel like a home. I have no reservations in recommending it.
Reply from Kristina Jacunskien, Home Manager at Amy Woodgate HouseThank you for sharing such heartfelt feedback about your mother's time at Amy Woodgate. It means a great deal to hear how well cared for she was, especially as her needs changed in later years.

We're so pleased that the team were able to support your mother with such kindness, compassion and understanding, and that our home felt just that, a home. Your lovely comments about our care, activities, kitchen and housekeeping teams mean so much to everyone who had the privilege of getting to know your mother.

Thank you again for your trust and for taking the time to share your experience.

Wishing you all the best,
Kristina

My mum is having respite care as her dementia has declined, I couldn't ask for a nicer place for her to be. It's clean, the food is lovely and all the staff are very friendly and interact with all the residents. Mum has settled as well as can be expected and all her needs are catered for. I have to
mention the management as they went above and beyond to get my family the break we all so desperately needed.
Reply from Kristina Jackunskien, Home Manager at Amy Woodgate HouseThank you for your lovely review. I am so pleased your mum has settled and that we could support your family during this time. Warm wishes, Kristina

I was invited to a lovely BBQ this afternoon at Amy Woodgate, where my Mum is a permanent resident, & we both thoroughly enjoyed it.
The lovely staff could not have done any more to make it better & they really make every event a special one.
Since Mum has been in the care home I have learnt so
much from the staff about old age & the onset of dementia.
I never thought I might make friends in a care home, but I have made plenty & I really appreciate their help.
Job well done by Amy Woodgate - couldn't be more attentive or caring.

The atmosphere in the room was happy and calm. Quiz with some residents causing lots of laughter. My sister and I took part too! The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. Mum enjoyed her tea and shortbread biscuits. Really pleasant visit today. Reassured every time we visit that the staff are caring
for her to the best of their ability.

Spotlessly clean, excellent care and best of all kindness, compassion and attention from an excellent team who always seem to look for extra ways to make residents feel at home. Even great care is taken over residents' laundry which is delivered to each room and hung up.

The family are very happy with the care as is mum. She loves being at the care-home. The food is excellent, the permanent staff are caring and show much care towards the residents. I had a meeting with the manageress which went very well regarding a few things and agency staff which hopefully will not
be present at the care home, permanent care staff are preferred than agency.

Mum is often confused. The staff know her well. One lady brought her a cup of tea, which she loved. They can comfort her. Today I left her about to do cooking with the activity coordinator. Earlier, she'd been singing along to some old music playing in the background, the words of which came back to
her. She no longer knows who I am, her other children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren - all of whom she had hands-on contact with. She couldn't be in a better place. Forever grateful to the staff.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.765)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.765) out of 10 for Amy Woodgate House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.965 for Amy Woodgate House is calculated as follows: ( (137 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 142 Ratings = 4.965
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Amy Woodgate House is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 44 registered maximum number of service users is 8.8, which has been reached with 12 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
