My mother was a resident at Amy Woodgate for approximately 3 years and enjoyed every second of being there. The staff were exceptional in the way they dealt with the residents "nothing was ever too much trouble", they were caring and extremely attentive. They took time to get to know the residents and
clearly interacted with them at all times.
My Mum being there gave myself and sister peace of mind in the knowledge she was being well cared for and above all very safe.
Their motto was " live for the moment".
Amy Woodgate provided my Mum with an extra 3 years of her life and perhaps the best last years of her life, she was never lonely she was very well fed and always smart and clean.
The staff showed extreme patience at all times even with some very difficult residents. They were all very warm, kind and welcoming.
Recently they have introduced a garden of remembrance, a thoughtful thing to have done. I am constantly telling people about Amy Woodgate and how brilliant it is.

My mother was a resident here for over 3 years and has recently just passed away. The care, compassion and dignity given to my mother during those years were excellent. The home is a specialist dementia care home. It was a very traumatic decision to place my mother into care, however knowing that she
was in a safe environment and would be looked after by caring staff made it easier to bear.
I would highly recommend this care home if your relative has dementia, the staff are well trained and all staff are attentive and supportive. There is an excellent manager and her team who are very responsive to requests. This is by far the best dementia home around for miles.

My mum was a resident at Amy Woodgate House from January 2014 to February 2017. Prior to that, she had attended the day centre.

Right throughout, she enjoyed an excellent and dedicated service from all members of the staff led by the manager. They were extremely professional and equally dedicated

in all sections to encompass hygiene, catering, counselling, both internally and from the borough's support services. Many thanks for the beautiful memories.

My father lived at Amy Woodgate House for just over 2 years, he originally went to their Day Centre, eventually becoming a resident. From his first minute until his last, the staff could not have been more caring, professional or compassionate. Everything you can think of or wish for is provided but
the other things they do are beyond anything you imagined - from spontaneous tea parties, through to organized events and so much more. The little things they do are huge and their impact wonderful. Everyone these days talks about patient centred care but until you have a loved one at Amy W you really haven't seen it in action and the difference it makes to the residents and their loved ones is incredible. The staff really do know and love their residents. The daily fun and laughter in this home is a tonic for everyone. The manager has a unique and inspirational magic wand and her entire team (cleaners, kitchen staff, carers, managers et al) are the fairy dust within it. This is a truly special home.

My mum passed away on the 22nd of March 2017 in her room at Amy Woodgate House where she had spent the past seven years. Her death was peaceful and I was able to be with her and was supported by all the staff on the unit. The staff of Amy Woodgate House over those 7 years met her needs as they increased
and provided a homely environment with high standards of care.

My father spent 3 wonderful years at Amy Woodgate with staff who were caring, considerate and understanding. He had dementia but had an excellent rapport with the staff, even more than he had with us. They understood his needs and strived hard to meet them. His unit had 12 residents and as such, missed
the magic number to have 3 staff instead of 2 which did overstretch the demands put upon staff. This was obvious in the evenings when 2 staff had to get residents ready for bedtime.

We visited him daily and left home feeling relieved that he was in good hands. Some staff reached 5* status and some less, but we accepted this. Our only disappointment was that he was not allowed to come back for his end of life care, even though it was for clearly for general support and no nursing interventions. He died sadly but peacefully in a new nursing home within 4 days of discharge. I am sure going back to his own familiar room would have made a difference to him in his last few days on this earth.

My mum was a resident at Amy Wwodgate between August 2010 and April 2016, when she sadly passed away.
Without exception, the staff there were courteous, respectful, caring and kind.

It was a very difficult decision to take, in placing mum into care, but, we are so grateful that Amy Woodgate could

accomodate her, and, we will always be grateful to them for everything they did.

My mother was treated with utmost respect and dignity as were myself my family and friends when frequently visiting. Without Amy Woodgate my mum's twilight years would have lacked so much laughter happiness and self respect. It is an amazing specialist centre and deserves every accolade. I will always
recommend the staff who, actually, will be forever family to us. I only have glowing comments to make and defy anyone to challenge them. Fantastic xxx

The care given at Amy Woodgate cannot be faulted, all the residents are treated as if they are part of a family in a very friendly environment. All the staff pay a great deal of time to each individual resident giving them the love, care and attention that cannot be surpassed. The whole atmosphere
in Amy Woodgate immediately makes you feel that your loved one will be taken care of, whether it be their health, cleanliness or food requirements.
There is always some activity being planned, in which the residents can participate if they want to. The residents are given the choice to do what they want just as if they were still in their own homes. All the rooms are en-suite and are kept clean every day to a high standard. All the residents clothes are washed and ironed regularly in house. There is a very good hairdresser salon in house. The food cannot be faulted, it is prepared in house and it is always fresh and plentiful. Amy Woodgate is a good example to every home.

Brilliant service from lovely people. We couldn't be happier. The home is really well run and Dad's as happy as he could be given his condition. We're really impressed with everyone and how generous and caring they are.

I have and continue to be impressed with Amy Woodgate the care and affection they show my mother is beyond good and definitely of a standard that other care homes should strive for, every member of staff on the unit make a point of saying hello to every person residing there each and every time they
come on duty.
Nothing seems to ever be a problem be it with toileting or illness they just do everything the way you can only hope all care homes do too, they have genuine love for their residence, watch that they are eating drinking tired hot cold the whole nine yards then some.
I cannot praise all the staff enough right down to the administration they all care and know their charges.

Amy Woodgate is an amazing resource staffed by carers who truly want to do their best for residents. I couldn't have asked for better care for my dad and they gave me much needed support during a time that was very difficult for both my dad and me. The staff have a high level of understanding of dementia
that is only rarely found and they put this understanding into practice in a lovely dementia-friendly building. The kindness and patience shown to my dad and me will be remembered for a very long time. I will never be able to thank them enough.

Quality care at its best should be more like this . The people living there are treated with the highest level of dignity and respect. The whole team are approachable and have empathy and caring attitudes from the cleaners to the manager. I don't think they could do better and the residents are happy
which is reassuring when you face such a difficult illness like dementia. Well done to everyone who works there, they are spot on with what they do. Wish there were more homes like this.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.765)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.765) out of 10 for Amy Woodgate House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.965 for Amy Woodgate House is calculated as follows: ( (137 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 142 Ratings = 4.965
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Amy Woodgate House is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 44 registered maximum number of service users is 8.8, which has been reached with 12 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
