I came here in mid September for nursing and rehab after six months stay In the hospital.
I found the care and service somewhat lacking. However, after discussions with the carers and the management we are at the required level.
Currently I am satisfied with the care and services provided, although
there is room for improvement and discussions are ongoing and there is cooperation from the management, both, executive and middle levels. Middle managers are mainly very helpful and competent..

My father lived at St. David's Care Home for several years, and I am truly grateful for the care and compassion shown throughout their time there. The staff were consistently patient, understanding, and supportive - even during the more challenging stages of their condition.

In the final months,

the team went above and beyond to keep them comfortable and maintain their dignity. The kindness shown by both the carers and the staff working behind the scenes made a difficult period much easier for the family.

St. David's Care Home provided exceptional care, compassion, and professionalism. I would highly recommend the home to anyone seeking a dedicated and supportive environment for their loved ones.

My mother has terminal brain cancer, and moving her from the hospital to a care home was the only way to ensure her comfort and dignity.
We have now been at the St. David's Care Home for just over a month, and I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the management and all the staff for their kindness,
care, and constant support.
As my mother's condition worsens, the team always responds with patience, compassion, and professionalism.
They adapt to her changing needs, make sure she receives all her medication and meals on time, and take great care of her hygiene and comfort.
I truly appreciate the warm attitude, attention to detail, and genuine concern shown every day.
It gives me peace of mind to know my mother is in safe and caring hands.
Thank you all so much for everything.

My aunt has been so well cared for at St David's care home, all the staff are kind and caring. She has a clean nice room with an excellent wet room bathroom with plenty of space.
Everyone is friendly and she has enjoyed the gardens.
I really can't fault the care here.
Highly recommend

WOW! What can I say. The moment we stepped into the Care Home, we knew that this was the place for my Father. Continuous attention/care for my Father. Wonderful care and empathy for my Mother who visited everyday. The care / dignity given to my Father (Resident) was truly respectful. Every single member
of staff that we met was caring and always smiling, so happy to go out of their way to to do whatever it takes. Thank you for looking after him.

St.David's is a very good nursing home that is in an all round continuous upgrading process( ie facilities, operational systems, modus operandi ) ever since taken over.
It is amazing felling to see all these new useful developments ,even starting right at the Entrance Door into the building !
The Staff
is well trained & competent in their line of duties ; they are kind and are treating the residents with dignity & respect.
They are always welcoming families with a big smile when visiting.
The Lead of the home is solid, is professional by background ,well experienced in this field ,dynamic and present in the premises ,on daily basis which is a good asset in managing well the home .
Further more this alone goes a long way in assuring families that the home is in good hands,
I personally wish them well in consolidating all the above achievements for ever more .

The review was a useful meeting with an experienced member of staff.
Some problems were discussed and acted upon later.
One drawback was that the staff member assumed that we had been sent the resident'
s care notes but we had not received any.
The meeting was frank and good natured.

My mother was in palliative care at St Davids for 6 weeks and we are very grateful for the care that was provided to her and the consideration given to us as her family.
Dignity and Cleanliness was impressive, a family friend who runs carehomes visited my mother and was also complimentary with cleanliness
of St Davids. It was evident that my mother was well cared for and cleaned regularly with pads being changed on a regular basis.
Staff were very calm and considerate to deal with which helped in our experience as a family. Further my mother took positively to the nursing and care staff.
Overall site is tranquil and cosy. My mother felt at home as soon as she was admitted to St Davids.

There are not enough permanent staff. There is not enough contact between me and another friend of the resident and the staff, both carers and management. We are her closest friends, family distant and far away.
Reply from Patricia Williams, Director at St David's Care HomeThank you for your feedback. We are continuing to recruit for permanent staff, predominantly nurses, but we have consistent agency staff that we use on a regular basis to ensure continuity of care for the residents. In regards to communication, weekly updates are sent to residents and families from management, we have regular residents and relatives meetings, and the home supports contact with families and friends via different communication methods, and this is also supported by the activities team. I would be happy to understand in more detail exactly when you say not enough contact. Thank you for taking to send in your review.

We have found the staff really helpful and friendly, can't do enough to help. The premises are clean, and we always see people cleaning. The rooms are lovely with everything you need. My brother has been a resident of St David's for many years. I visit as often as I can as I am not from the UK. I have always found them most welcoming, and the care he receives is excellent. Staff are very helpful, and they treat him with dignity. When Covid happened in March 2020, I was worried. I
couldn't visit or even travel to see him. Staff were very reassuring, provided me with weekly and sometimes twice weekly Skype calls to my brother. This allowed us to see each other at least virtually during this difficult time, which was really great. The manager provided weekly updates by email, and when I could visit in July 2021, it was wonderful to see how well he was looked after. We were both so happy to see each other again. Covid restrictions continued into 2021, and visits were limited. Staff are very kind and recognise and understand my brother's care needs. He can ring me whenever he needs to. I would certainly recommend St David's.

My mother has been a resident at St David's for two years. She suffered a brain injury and does not have mental capacity. She cannot communicate very well and is extremely vulnerable as a result. I feel the care she receives at St David's is outstanding. Despite some reliance on agency staff, many members
of the St David's team have worked there for years. All staff (new and old) have been very caring, patient and kind to my mother; they know her very well and treat her with respect. Importantly, this has been consistent throughout. They are helpful and courteous to me and keep me informed of any issues or changes related to my mother's wellbeing. After years of being unsettled elsewhere, my mother is now settled, and I feel confident she is receiving the care she deserves. I am so very grateful for St David's and highly recommend it.

My friend is physically weak but mentally strong. She is known by name, treated with dignity, kept aware of what is happening with regards to management and proposed activities. She is involved with activities, which are varied and provided by staff, volunteers and visiting groups of entertainers. There
is a close (but entirely optional) connection with the local Parish Church. I know two other folks here who are now mentally challenged and are well cared for. I cannot comment on value for money as we do not discuss it.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.419)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.419) out of 10 for St David's Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.830 for St David's Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (114 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 135 Ratings = 4.83
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.589 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St David's Care Home is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 76 registered maximum number of service users is 15.2. 12 Positive Reviews ÷ 15.2 = 0.789
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
