John is treated with respect by the care staff. They use the hoist to move him and take care that he does not fall.
He could do with a little more stimulation - perhaps move to another room at times, but I know that he may resist. I know that he likes visiting the dog. John has said that he likes
it at Acton Care Home, and I think he feels secure. I think that the staff really try hard to provide a comfortable and caring home for John and respect his ways and dislikes of noise.

My civil partner, Andrew, was resident at Acton Care Centre for only a short time. He died in hospital on 25 September '25. However, during that short time, he was looked after with exemplary care and kindness by all members of staff at the centre.

The staff, nurses, and helpers are all very kind. There is a friendly atmosphere within the confines of a secure building. The food could be better - fresher and better quality.
Perhaps there should be a few more nurses so no one gets tired. A difficult balance of security and well being is maintained.
Reply from Welmar, Home Manager at Acton Care CentreThank you for taking the time to leave us a review. I am so pleased you are happy with the care you receive. I have noted your comments regarding the food and appreciate the feedback to allow us the opportunity to address any areas where we can improve. Welmar

I have been most impressed and pleased with the care and support given to my relative in the Care Centre. At his most vulnerable in the latter stages of his life, he was sensitively and sympathetically treated. I was supported too.

I have no hestiation in recommending the Acton Care Centre for anyone

seeking end of life or longer term residency.

Acton Care Centre took wonderful care of my mum during her final months. Despite serious health issues, blindness, dementia, and a language barrier, they made her feel safe, respected, and genuinely cared for. She often said, "I feel like I'm living in a fairytale" - that's how kind and gentle they
were. The whole team - carers, nurses, kitchen and cleaning staff, admin - treated her like family, with warmth and dignity. Even her Polish swearing made them smile, and some lovingly called her "Mum," which she adored. As her daughter, I felt fully supported too - they gave me peace of mind during the most difficult time of my life. On behalf of myself, my brother, and our family, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We'll never forget what you did for us.
Reply from Welmar Patarata, Home Manager at Acton Care CentreThank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely review it was truly our pleasure to care for your mum and support your family. Warm regards, Welmar

Mum came into Acton Care Centre around 4 weeks ago and myself & family have been so pleased that she did. For her to be around such friendly, smiles & happy people, showing her care & consideration and understanding issuch a blessing, we know she is safe, respected and cared for & that takes away so
much stress for us. Acton Care is organised, superbly clean and a refreshing place to visit. She is not yet joining in with activities. Thank you.
Reply from Welmar Patarata, Home Manager at Acton Care CentreThank you for your kind words! We're pleased your mum is settling in well and we will continue to support her at her own pace.

Very good value for money. Will recommend to others. Will return if required in the future. Although not all staff were competent or responsive, most were and everyone was friendly and always smiling.

Overall excellent, helpful, postive, professional. Food marginally better than hospital food and always available when requested. Staff amazing, room nice, a little larger would be nice but cosy as is. Love the fact of therapy dogs and of being able to have my own dog visit. In general as health dictates
I need a care home environment, I would not wish to move anywhere else.

I am always made very welcome by the staff on reception. I am always treated with respect by every member of the staff. The staff have gone out of their way to make my sister happy and have her needs met. The atmosphere is cheerful and bright and the rooms adequate. A cup of tea and cake has always
been given. The kitchen/dining area welcomes visitors. My canine friend has always been welcome.

My husband is confined to his bed and cannot take part in any activities. The staff have tried to get him to go in a wheelchair but he refused. He seems to be content watching TV and looking out of the window. Would be good to have the curtains drawn. He cannot indulge in a conversation and at times
looks very sad.
Reply from Welmar, Home Manager at Acton Care CentreThank you for taking the time to leave a review. It is very difficult both physically and emotionally for those residents who are cared for primarily in their beds due to their needs. We always encourage people to participate but must of course respect their wishes where they choose not to. We will continue to encourage and support and care for your husband for as long as he is in our care and will support you throughout this journey also.

I live in Somerset and cannot visit my mother more than once a week because of work. It is very comforting to know Mum is being genuinely cared for and is happy and safe at Acton Care Centre. All of the staff from reception on arrival, the office for admin purposes, the nurses and caregivers are friendly
and helpful. This is not just my opinion but also from friends of Mum who visit her during the week.

We have all been very happy with the care and compassion at this place.
My sister seems settled and calmer and happier and that is what everyone wants for their loved ones when they already suffer from a debilitating illness.
They take good care of her and meet her needs. God bless them.
Thank you
so much.

Excellent home with great staff and very friendly. Though a bad point the room my brother is in is far too hot, and the underfloor heating is very hard to turn down, even with the thermostat. Also, my brother is left on his bed all day, and there is no urgency to get him mobile. He can walk though needs
physio for 1 year we have been asking. He will rot away if he does not get mobile again.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.542)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.542) out of 10 for Acton Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.542 for Acton Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (204 Excellents x 5) + (103 Goods x 4) + (21 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 330 Ratings = 4.542
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Acton Care Centre is based on 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 130 registered maximum number of service users is 26, which has been reached with 28 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
