I'm very impressed with the overall standard of care and support at Acton Care Centre. It is a caring and friendly environment and the majority of carers are empathetic and hands-on. I feel confident that my mother is in safe hands and that all her needs are met. The care and dedication from carers
to residents is very evident. Highly recommend - and thank you!

My 95-year-old uncle spent his last six days at Acton Care Centre after a hospital stay. Three family members visited and we found the care to be very appropriate for someone at the end of life. Communication with staff was very good and we were welcomed to share his last days with him on visits.

The first time I telephoned the care home after my mother had been admitted, they knew exactly who she was without me even having to explain.
On visiting, I was impressed by the home's level of cleanliness and the size and facilities of her room.
I have found all the staff, whether nurses, carers,
domestic or admin to be welcoming, friendly, cheerful, caring, well-motivated and helpful - going out of their way to give assistance whenever required.
Above all, my mother received a great deal of personal care and genuine kindness, especially in the last months of her life, which was also extended to my family at a very difficult time.
A great team, providing an invaluable service.

The staff are friendly, a warm welcome on my arrival at the care home. Feel confident about the care services of the nurses, carers, and other employees on the unit, also helpful and supportive of residents' needs. I considered this place as my second home for the last 5 months. I am happy with the
treatment I received, I feel great regarding the visiting policy. Welcoming relatives with a smile, I considered this place as my second home. They are so kind, gentle in handling care to residents. Again thanks for everything, to everyone, for the care I received. I learned more about adult care, how residents are being treated, at least, I have experience and ideas. Lastly, thanks to the care home, all its staff, and employees for your great job. Well done.

I feel so fortunate that my very disturbed husband is lucky enough to live in this lovely care home. The very best place he could be. I cannot express how much I admire the staff for their professional and loving care. They are all so pleasant and cheerful and keep my husband looking spruce and well
dressed every day. It is so comforting that the laundry marking system means he is always dressed in his own clothes. An exemplary care home.

Acton Care is very expensive £6,465.71 per 31-day month. £34-45 is spent on a residents food each week. The rooms and general appearance is shabby. It needs a good clean and repainting. On a positive note, I have no complaints about the staff; they are pleasant, helpful and friendly.

Everyone here is so very kind. My mum is safe, happy, and cared for. Her room is comfortable. She has lots of people to talk to and is the happiest she's been in a long while. And I've had a huge weight of worry lifted from me as I know she's safe.

All staff at Acton Care Centre were brilliant looking after and caring for our Dad. We regularly witnessed genuine care and sympathy, kindness and compassion along with 100% support at all times. All staff ensured my Dad was comfortable and treated with dignity. They were always there for us, behaved
professionally and were in tune with all my Dad's (and our) needs. Several staff were incredible, they worked with seal and desire to help us all. We were extremely impressed and had no regrets in taking my Dad to Acton Care Centre. I would recommend it.

In the short time my sister has been at this care home I have found reception very welcoming and friendly. The care staff are extremely busy and do a great job of looking after my sister. The management are efficient and answer any questions I may have in a timely manner. The rooms and communal areas
are clean and tidy. I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home to family and friends.

Firstly, the receptionist for her most welcomed greeting given to us when we arrived and her efficient caring way given for the covid 19 swab test etc, she was a very caring, kind and helpful lady. Secondly, floor 1, we are very grateful to the 2 nursing sisters and all the staff who helped our mum,
97 years old and poorly in health, kindly and caring making her so comfortable and peaceful. Sister also helped by ringing us to say come in extra near the end, which helped us say our love, blessings and to say goodbye to our darling mum. Thank you to the night nurse who was with her at the end too. Very dignified and all treated respectfully by all. Thank you.

My father in law received dignified and compassionate care in the Garden Unit at the end of his life. The duty nurse recognised the end was near and called us in with enough time to say our goodbyes. For the three years before he was well looked after and enjoyed playing games and quizzes with the activities
staff, especially with an ice-cream! Despite all the challenges of Covid-19, the care and nursing staff do amazing work keeping residents safe.
Reply from Jemar Legister, Marketing Associate at Acton Care CentreThank you for taking the time out to such a positive and insightful review. We want to pass on our sincere condolences for the passing of your father-in-law. Here at Gold Care Homes, we strive to make the lives of all our residents as safe and comforting as possible. We ensure we meet all the individual care needs and requirements of all our residents. We take pleasure in knowing that your father-in-law enjoyed the quality of care we provided during his stay with us, as our staff members work extremely hard to ensure that our residents receive nothing short of high-quality care. Thank you again, and stay safe.

My mother was transferred to Acton Care Home for palliative care.
She spent 16 days there. It has taken me 6 months to even be able to think about the absolute nightmare that my mother, myself and my 2 sisters went through. We saw a palliative care nurse only once. Nurses were abrupt and often rude
to us even though we were traumatised by our mother's fate. She was often left in pain as nurses would not respond quick enough to our request for pain relief.

There was no compassion from the staff and my sister was spoken to in a very rude manner by a nurse. We should not have had to go through what we did at such a difficult time.
Reply from Sym Jaj, Senior Marketing Executive at Acton Care CentreWe're incredibly sorry to hear of your experience with us Let me reassure you that at Gold Care Homes we work incredibly hard to provide person-centred care and show all of our resident's compassion. At Acton Care Centre, there are nurses on duty 24/7, with palliative nurses providing additional support to the families and our nurses when required. We understand how difficult these situations can be, and we would like to offer our sincere apologies for the difficulty and turmoil you faced. Gold Care Homes have invested heavily into various training opportunities to ensure that everyone's safety is at the forefront of every action. This in no way means that our commitment to providing our residents with the highest quality of care has changed. Your comments have been taken on board and passed on to the relevant team.
I hope, in due course, we will be able to showcase how great our team is and how much we value our residents.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.303)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.303) out of 10 for Acton Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 26 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.380 for Acton Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (168 Excellents x 5) + (103 Goods x 4) + (16 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (12 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 300 Ratings = 4.38
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.923 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Acton Care Centre is based on 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 130 registered maximum number of service users is 26. 24 Positive Reviews ÷ 26 = 0.923
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
