Thank you for your comment, our main goal is to ensure that our residents are content and happy and well cared for, so I am pleased to hear that your friend is enjoying her time with the Baugh House family.

Firstly the quality of staff is very good, hardworking and dedicated, we have no issues with the care provided. There are, however, issues around staffing levels. The ratio of carers to residents is inadequate, especially in the afternoons. The residents often have to sit in their own urine/faeces waiting for staff to attend them as there is not enough to supervise the other residents. Also, night/morning, where my dad has been still in bed at 11.30am due to staffing levels. This is unacceptable. Also, record keeping is an issue. There has been several occasions where incidents have happened, a fall and physical lashing out which has not been recorded. This was addressed with the manager and dealt with. Suggest that staff do NOT have time to do paperwork and care.

I’m surprised and shocked by your comments. A new management team was brought in to improve the quality of our service, which has had a dramatic effect on the output of our team. This is reflected in the number of positive reviews received to date. As a registered care provider, we have a legal obligation to provide a certain level of staff based on the number of residents in our care – we have never failed to meet this requirement. In fact, we’re one of the few care providers that consistency provides a staff level above the minimum requirement. We have a strict code of conduct and policy structure in place to report any issues/incidents immediately, all are recorded as soon as physically possible. The Care Manager at Baugh has been appointed to lead an investigation into your other comments and will feedback to senior management. I have found the staff lovely to work with in providing mum with excellent care and support. It is early days but staff have made mum welcome and placed her in a beautiful light room so she can see the garden.

My mother has advanced Alzheimers and needs 24-hour care. Baugh House has given her a beautiful room, always kept clean and a really practical layout for her to walk and spend time in the garden.
The carers are lovely and my mother seems very happy there.
There does appear to be problems with management.

Our mother recently passed away as a result of mainly old age and the effects of being hospitalised with a chest infection. Mum had been in Baugh House for six months but throughout that time our family had nothing but praise and admiration for staff at the home whenever we visited, we always witnessed the highest lever of care and compassion towards all residents and unending patience in what can often be a challenging situation. At her final day's staff showed great sympathy and care towards mum and the family.
We would have no hesitation in recommending Baugh House as a safe and caring environment for residents.

My first meeting with the management team was a very friendly nature. We were shown around the home and everyone we met from the staff team were going about their duties in a very caring manner. Everywhere looked clean and tidy and the smell of the food at lunchtime was wonderful. In the short time my cousin was there - only one week, the nurses and carers we met had an excellent relationship with her and this was shown in her passing.
The nursing staff kept us well informed of the events taking place and on the day after her passing, the management were very sympathetic and showed great concern. My family would have no hesitation in recommending Baugh House as a very caring and friendly place to be.

Baugh House is a small and friendly establishment. The rooms are clean, light and airy. Decorated in a pleasant, restful and cheerful colours. The setting is quiet and peaceful and the pretty grounds are well kept with artistic planting and decor. The admin staff are welcoming and polite as are all the carers. Also showing great empathy and respect.
Despite all the positive things, it is too expensive - especially when compared with what the private residents pay against what the local authority residents pay for exactly the same service.

Our mother settled immediately and has made many friends, residents and staff alike, she came in with a urine infection which was diagnosed by the nursing staff and treated accordingly.
Because of the infection, she suffered a mild stroke and epileptic fit. She is now very healthy being well fed and well cared for. The staff and entertainment personnel do a brilliant job, with sometimes very difficult patients.

My experiences since Mum has been here July'16 - Improvements were needed- Present day (November'16), many improvements have taken place and things seem to be running a lot smoother. My father went into the home with dementia and needing support that social services said required 24-hour care. His physical condition deteriorated because of cancer. The staff could not have been kinder or more caring. The only blip was with agency staff at the end. They kept him in his dementia care room and provided nursing/support rather than moving him yet again to nursing care. They also gave me - only child- a lot of emotional support.

There were some staff changes but at the time of his death, they had no adverse effect upon his care.

The home tends to all my aunt's needs, 24/7 nursing care. All the staff from top to bottom are always polite and cheerful. They always have a moment to talk if I need any information. My aunt recently had her 87th birthday. The staff knew we were coming and they prepared the lounge for us with laid tables, decorations and tea. They even brought in a birthday cake and all sang Happy Birthday. My aunt is always clean, her room is always clean and tidy.

Baugh House took care of our Dad in the last weeks of life giving respect, comfort and dignity. Everyone from ‘House Keeper’ to Manager and everybody in between was brilliant. Care goes well beyond professional expectation –individuals constantly demonstrate that work is a vocation, not just a job. We also saw how staff were with other residents and were so impressed. The place is ordered, happy and bustling. Staff take responsibility seriously within a sense of family and fun. In the short time we were there we felt completely supported. For us, the level of substantive nursing care was of paramount importance and was excellent. We couldn’t have done better if we had gone to a hospice. In Dad’s final hours we wouldn’t have wanted to be anywhere else. Nursing staff are intelligent, professional and approachable. There was enormous relief knowing we could walk away and be confident that he would be properly cared for. Our only regret was that we didn’t find it sooner.

the window in our bedroom is too small and I feel a lot better since staying here. It's definitely what I needed. The food is improving slightly but I wish there wouldn't be too much mince on the menu and food is bland. I feel desserts should have more of a variety as tend to get ice-cream a lot. I like that I am safe here and it's peaceful. I like the friendliness of staff; they are efficient and looking after us well. When we press the buzzer, the staff come quickly.

The majority of the staff are very helpful but have heard recently that some of the staff are leaving so I'm hoping their replacements will be as helpful. One lady is a great asset to the home. She helps put a smile on our faces as well as tirelessly organises entertainment for the residents and assists in their care when needed. The food has improved greatly not only in quality but also in variety since the appointment of the new chef. Cleanliness and maintenance of equipment and furniture e.g. wheelchairs, over chair tables and armchairs in the lounge could do with improving. I have noticed items on the floor of the lounge that have been left there for weeks. I cannot comment much on the management as there has been a recent change and have so far not had much involvement with them.

In the first years, my wife was active and fully mobile and the care required was minimal that care she received, however, was of a high standard and served her needs well. Unfortunately, after a two-month stay in hospital with a serious illness, she was left unable to walk and feed herself properly. Since being wheelchair bound I have found equipment and facilities that my wife requires as first class. In recent months stay they have experienced some staffing difficulties, which the new manager is on top of and coping well.

My grandfather has been living at Baugh House for almost 2years, due to the distance I have to travel I very rarely have the ability to visit him, but my mother keeps me updated with everything to do with his care.
Recently the home has had a lot of problems but since the new management has started, the home has been much better than ever before. The new home manager has made such a positive difference in her short time working at Baugh House, and the new chef is making some lovely meals. My grandfather is eating so much more than he has been and the care staff and cleaning team have always been very good.

A home with no effective leadership or management. Dad was asked to leave after we, as a family, spent too much time at the "home" wanting to play an active part in our father's care. Most staff were caring but spent the majority of their time filling in paperwork and spent little time interacting with residents and giving much needed 1-1 attention. Many staff members left during the 6 months Dad was there, not least because they felt unsupported by management.

As an organisation, any action taken is very much a last resort and is only ever carried out after all other avenues or solutions have been exhausted. A decision such as this is only arrived at if we feel that we are unable to meet an individual's needs or if their well-being or safety would be compromised if they remained in the home. No decision should ever be taken without consultation with stakeholders such as relatives, safeguarding teams, social workers and any other professionals that would be involved. During mums last week with advanced dementia the staff show care which continued through to the end. Both washing, moisturising and settling only speaking to my family to ensure we were ok too. Treating mum with kindness and dignity at all times.
