I have been a regular visitor to my nan's care home since taking over as POA in January 2024, following the passing of my father. I have nothing but positive comments to make. The staff have been welcoming and my nan is clearly well looked after, the staff are very in tune with my nan's needs and always
call upon me if there is an issue. I feel fully involved in her care and able to approach staff if needed. The accommodation is always clean, the food is great and the activities are fantastic. I always look forward to my visits!

My friend was brought to Baugh House due to having several falls at home and no longer had mobility or the ability to care for herself. She had prolonged spells in the hospital too. She settled quite quickly and in general was content. Due to dementia, she could be difficult and abusive but the staff
treated her with care and respect. Thank you to the staff who cared for her well when circumstances were sometimes difficult.
Reply from Seye Fadipe, Home Manager at Baugh HouseThank you for taking the time to share your experience of our home. Sometimes the dementia journey our friends and loved ones take can be difficult but it is always important to see the person behind the illness - our team is very experienced in providing patient and respectful care for those living with dementia. Warm regards.

My mum was at Baugh House Care Home from September 2022 - December 2022 when she sadly passed. The standard of care received was excellent. All staff treated Mum with excellent care and support. As a family, we felt we were very well supported and kept informed in every aspect of Mum's care. A five-star
care home in every way.

I don't live locally but my brother and sister kept me up to date daily of the care Mum received and I was able to speak with Mum on their phone when she was well enough. I have visited today for the first time and everyone is amazing! Thanks to them all for simply everything they did for our darling
Mum.

Mum was admitted to Baugh House on the 27th of February after being in hospital for a month. She settled in within a week or two and we (her family) visited her almost every day to help her settle. The staff were lovely and her room was comfortable and felt homely. Mum had been independent all her life
and didn't like to trouble staff for anything even though they kept telling her nothing was too much trouble. She passed away comfortably on 21/04/2023.
Reply from Priyanka Gadhe, Marketing Administrator at Baugh HouseThank you so much for taking out the time to leave us a kind review despite the circumstances. We would like to express our deepest condolences for the loss of your mum. At Baugh House care homes we are committed to providing comfort and compassion to our residents. We are grateful for the trust you placed in our care team and appreciate your thoughtful review. Warmest regards.

Baugh House does lots of things right, such as organising birthday parties and Mother's Day events for their residents. The staff are helpful and well-meaning. Our concerns are that more basic services such as cutting fingers/toenails, cleaning teeth, haircuts etc, aren't routinely done - they seem
to require an intervention from the family, and even then there is some doubt as to whether they are being carried out in reality.

Mum moved to Baugh House 10 months ago from a residential home with dementia care where she had lived for 4.5 years because they were no longer able to meet her needs and nursing care was required. She settled in fast and all the carers soon learnt how to manage and care for her needs.
Mum is always
clean and extremely happy when I visit and also when I see her in photos on the home's dedicated social media page.
I witness a lot of love and affection from the staff for her on my visits but also the same given to all those who live there. Always plenty of activities going on and no one is excluded. Mum hardly speaks now, has poor eyesight and rarely does anything with her hands yet she is given things to hold and is always in the midst of everything with a big smiley face. The manager is good at his job and keen to hear and act on any difficulties relatives have. His door is always open and he is very approachable.
I have seen many positive changes since Mum has been here across all areas.
Reply from Priyanka Gadhe, Marketing Administrator at Baugh HouseThank you for sharing your positive experience with Baugh House care home. I find this difficult to write as my father has been asked to leave. He’s 82 and has been there for 4 years so is very settled. Baugh House had already contacted authorities above social services before telling me. The home selection team have been looking for homes with difficulty. They contacted one
and the manager went to visit my dad. No one told me this was happening. No contact from Baugh House at all to let me know. I have spoken to this manager and she was shocked to hear he was being made to move. I used to receive calls with incidents but haven’t had a call for a long time so was surprised to hear he was being asked to leave. This is going to be a horrendous move for my dad and his vascular dementia is bad now. How can they do this to an 82-year-old man? We were told they wouldn’t supply one-to-one yet when I visited he was receiving one-to-one. He just wants company. They have no idea the stress this causes a family let alone the resident.

My mum is 93 and went into Baugh House when she could no longer be looked after safely at home. Her room is light and spacious with a nice view from the window and she has plenty of storage room for her clothes. She also has an ensuite shower room, toilet and smart tv. The staff are very approachable
and friendly and willing to listen to our requests and points of view. Placing Mum in Baugh House was not an easy decision but it has given us peace to know she is safe and well cared for.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.634)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.634) out of 10 for Baugh House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 25 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.634 for Baugh House is calculated as follows: ( (208 Excellents x 5) + (69 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 292 Ratings = 4.634
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Baugh House is based on 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 24 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
