Overall Experience

Some of the staff are very apathetic. The room was extremely hot, and fans had been removed. I can say that the deputy manager, whose office is on the 1st floor was very helpful and friendly. Cleo, the activity organiser, is a breath of fresh air. Please consider some of her suggestions. Residents sit in front of the television as the day's main activity. Have asked several times for the relatives' minutes, but this has not been sent to me either. I have been in communication with Dido and her assigned social worker from Adult Social Services.

Some of the staff are extremely kind to my Aunt..However when I make enquiries regarding her hair been done and a chiropodist coming in to look after her feet..I hear the same Excuses/Story been told which really irritates me considering my Aunt is a very laid back women and is kind to staff and fellow patients..I'm always following up on her clothes which are shinking due to hot wash or Dryer Use..Finally she has patches of Cradle-cap on her head from lack of hair been washed. When I'm there to see her I try to do what I can to make my visits fun and entertaining which is all I wish for her going forward.

Review from Brenda D (Cousin of Resident) published on 16 January 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My relative has settled well into Peregrine House - the routines, good food and staff friendliness have helped to ensure his stay is safe and he is kept clean and well supported. Working in a Care Home takes dedication and a real desire to help people and my feeling is that the staff try hard to give the best of themselves. I would like to see a little more 1:1 interaction from staff, in order to try to engage the residents and stimulate them at an intellectual level. I know that this is not easy with some residents, but perhaps activities like cards, colouring pictures or simple puzzles might be helpful if working alongside a resident, however it is possible that these things do go on when I am not visiting myself. I find the regular Relatives Meetings are really good and an opportunity for helpful information-giving and discussion - and the lovely refreshments provided are always appreciated too!

Overall Experience

The care and support for my brother at Peregrine House is greatly appreciated. He is very happy with the care he gets and content to be there. When visiting I am warmly greeted and made to feel welcome by friendly staff. I feel the running of the Care Home is well managed, it is warm and clean and I can see the staff are doing an excellent job. As a person of responsibility for my brother I am kept informed by the Care Home with regard to changes in procedures which would impact upon him. I have trust in the management of my brother's well being especially as I live far from Peregrine House and personal visits are not easy.

My father is treated with dignity and real care and attention by the staff at Peregrine House.
The staff are so friendly and welcoming, and are very positive and supportive towards both the residents and
family members. It feels like a happy environment.

My father is non-verbal, and needs a lot of care. The staff try their hardest to make sure all of his needs are met in a timely manner.

Peregrine House, where my family member has been for the past 4 years, is a very welcoming care home. He is well looked after, being non-verbal, the staff really care about him. Food and catering is good, as is his personal care. I recommend it.

The staff seem to know their client's as well as their families, which bode's well for a good relationship.

I admire the staff as their chosen is not easy and I personally feel they merit a wage increase especially for the staff at ground level. Overall a strenuous job that does not equal their pay.

Overall a nice care home; most of the staff are lovely, some should not work in care as they don't care. Problems with my dad not having on his own clothes and them washing and shining them and his toiletries going missing and not taking the residents out in the summer to the park or in the garden.

Peregrine House is amazing. I have been visiting my friend for some years now, while she has been a resident here.
The staff are welcoming and kind. The room where my friend lives is always clean and homely. The residents appear happy and are engaging in various activities.

Happy New Year to staff and residents.

My father was homed here for a short while. Me and my sister decided that we wished for him to be moved as we found the home to be managed poorly. The environment was not conducive to inclusive activity and engagement. Activities Planner not being carried out, and some parts of the home are neglected. Dead plants, dirty light fittings - a very depressing home for life. Care Plans are not staff-friendly and not being recorded correctly. Important risk assessments not being carried out when required, poor staff culture. Lack of investment by Gold Care Homes in building and training for management and staff.
