Overall Experience

This was my first review meeting. I am pleased that the management was caring and I can see that they all treated the home as it be their home in dignity. The building does require improvement windows, maybe air conditioning unit for hot weather in their lounge. More staff needed at night shift in case of emergencies, but very happy with everything.

I am very impressed by the excellent and extremely humane level of care provided by the residence. Al the staff are very friendly and attentive. The activities are varied and clearly appreciated. The general atmosphere is always good and the residents I have spoken to always seem glad to be here.

Review from M D (Sister of Resident) published on 10 August 2018 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My family member with dementia and behaviour issues has been relatively happy at Peregrine House. She has been a resident for many years. The administrative and caring staff are always approachable and thoughtful in their responses to me. But they often appear stressed and too busy, perhaps a staffing issue.

Many of the resident/carer interactions are kind, a few are not. I wonder how often the residents are chatted to and not just given personal care. Activities are cheerful, but some are not suitable for residents with communication disabilities. Activities for dementia patients are limited. Watching TV is not an activity, except perhaps the World Cup!

The midday meal is always freshly cooked, but the evening meal often looks dull. Hydration in hot weather needs attention. There is little access to chilled water, which might make reluctant drinkers more likely to drink beyond thirst in hot weather.

I feel my sister is safe, but the standards are acceptable, rather than good.

I have mental health. The staff was able to identify early that I needed help which prevented me from a long hospital admission.

I spent 2 hours doing advocacy with one of the residents. The duty staff member was extremely helpful and had a clear idea of the needs and wishes of the residents. There is a positive atmosphere here and this is encouraged by all the staff.

Fr5om 1995 for about ten years m I used to be an inspector of old people's homes in the borough of Brent. I wrote many reports about the conditions and facilities. Therefore from my experience, I'm happy to classify this home, the carers, the cleanliness, food and conditions as to a very good home. I visit every week.
