Broxbourne Nursing Home

My Mum was admitted here from hospital. The process was quick, efficient and friendly. The staff are always willing to help and are smiley which makes a huge difference. My Mum was fabulously well looked after by a team of people who really care about what they were doing. I was always kept informed on my Mums condition and always in a friendly, professional and efficient manner. I felt my Mum was in complete safe hands here. Thank you everyone.

My dad has been on a 4 week assessment , home is lovely , reception staff over and above/ excellent - however I have found care staff needing improvement . Often all just sitting on there phones ignoring residents - today I was told my dad should wait 20 mins for a toilet- we attempted to take him as he couldn't wait . Then his bell started going off ( it's was faulty) 30 mins and no one came to check he was ok? Unacceptable - happy he is moving .

I visited my friend today and she was pleased to see me. During my stay the dining room/ lounge became increasingly hot. There did not seem to be any air conditioning or visible fans for the area. Yet when I went downstairs there seemed to be air conditioning as it was so much cooler. Is there a problem or is it only put on occasional.

The staff are incredibly attentive and genuinely care about the well-being of each person, it gives the family peace of mind knowing he is looked after and safe. My grandad is slowly improving each day and the facilities are great to spend quality time together.

If we need to know about mum always tells us.

Overall I have no major complaints. Thank you .

My dads two week stay at Broxbourne Nursing home. All staff were amazing. Thankyou.

This is something I mention so often but it never gets resolved. Most of the clothes my husband had when he first became a resident have disappeared despite them all being labelled. I often find him sitting in the lounge wearing his pyjama trousers. I have now started taking the washing home so no need for the laundry but it has made very little difference. Many other people have the same problem but nothing is done about it. I also don't like the fact that his key worker is on a night shift and leaves at eight o'clock in the morning. I am still shaving him, trimming his hair and sometimes have to cut his nails so I would like to have contact with the key worker so I can keep up to date with Leslies condition.

Overall I'm happy with Mum being at broxbourne.

The staff were all polite and attentive and my nan appeared happy and cared for. The home was decorated and cheerful and is always a good atmosphere and my nan is always happy and kept busy.

Everyone is welcoming. Everywhere is always clean. My nan is always smiling and happy which gives me great satisfaction that she is well looked after.

Everyone was in good Christmas spirits. Everyone very helpful. Always clean & tidy.

My dad seems very happy & settled and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

The care home is amazing, the staff are kind & considerate, nothing is too much, they are always willing to help and go above and beyond. I couldn't ask for a better place for my dad to be as I know he is well looked after and happy.

Broxbourne care home is of the highest standard with friendly staff and a wonderful atmosphere. I would recomend anyone's family to be here knowing they are safe and happy.

Staff are marvellous, he's being looked after 24 hours per day. Nothing too much trouble when you ask of them & they action things quickly. Always a drink to hand & food looks appetising for those who are eating well. All treated with respect.

My Mum was admitted for 2 weeks respite following an hospital admission. It took me a considerable amount of time to complete the paperwork so my Mum who had arrived by ambulance had been in her room for quite a while. We were directed to her room, not shown and found Mum sitting in her chair still with her coat on. I visited Mum everyday and on most occasions the bed was unmade. Her side table was not cleaned daily. I had to ask for the room to be vacuumed as there had been food on the floor for a few days. Rest of home very clean. I saw staff on numerous occasions on their mobile phones and sitting at the end of the corridor on their mobiles. There were a few kind staff that chatted to Mum. Staff were always polite. We were left waiting for one and a half hours for her discharge summary and meds. I was reassured by staff on 2 occasions that the nurse would come to see us. When the nurse did arrive she apologised for the delay and said she hadn't been told we were waiting.

I witnessed the verbal and physical abuse by a carer of a vulnerable resident. This was reported to management and despite their repeated assurances that they take safeguarding seriously, the carer is still employed there. Beware.
