I am just wondering why Headington Care Home housing frail elderly people cannot fix the boiler problems that mean no hot water, no showers, no proper wash for several weeks? Pretty shocking isnt it?? Still charging hefty fees. Where is all that money going?

Always excellent the care my husband receives, staff helpful, efficient and polite and friendly.

As I have mobility problems the staff always kindly get a wheelchair and take me to his bedroom, and take me back down to reception for my taxi/lift home. Very kindly are happy to bring me a most welcome cup of tea. The food is varied and always looks well cooked and enticing. Physio is given daily.

Visited my father, totally unannounced, he is bedridden, but he and his room were clean, tidy and smelling fresh. Staff checked in on us and guided us through his wellbeing and care. Offered us refreshment and supported us during our visit. It is never easy to visit a loved one who has no memory of you and is a person you lost years ago, but staff always are comforting and informative.
Keep up the good work.

Lorraine

I am very happy to have my Auntie in this care home. The home is kept spotless and if we have a problem, such as the toilet leaking, it is attended to immediately. The staff are wonderful and I have never heard any staff get cross with any of the residents. All the nursing staff are exceptional and always cheerful and helpful. All in all. This care home is excellent.

My friend has been resident here for several years. During that time she has been well looked after by staff, many of whom have been there many years. They are very friendly when I arrive. The home is very clean and tidy.

I have been finding difficult to cope with the ever changing entry and exit methods, as I visit on a Sunday, and have to wait for someone to help me. However I quite understand that security is a priority.

The staff were fantastic. Food bland and not very nice. We couldn't really fault the care mum received and as a family we are so pleased of the outcome. To have her home after 3 weeks with yourselves is great, we are very happy she didn't need to go home with carers.

From time to time, my wife and I call in to visit on of your residents. Prior to moving into The Headington Care home, he lived on the same estate as we do. We have known our friend for over ten years and been alongside him in many situations. The care home has transformed his life at so many levels; with his thoughts and in his outlook on life. He has been supported in so many levels by the staff.

I was very impressed with the new female physio. She engaged with all the residents by having name badges, walking around the room, speaking to individuals before getting them to join in. She also sang to them at the end and got some of them to salute. A great improvement on the previous male physion who only sat on a chair for the whole session.

For my elderly mother with mobility issues, The Headington Care Home provides her with a generally friendly service but with lots of structure.

Mum is well looked after in terms of her medication and visits by the GP. Headington Care Home has a friendly aura that stems from the manager. The care home always maintains contact with me in case of emergency. The lounge is spacious, the rooms are clean and always looked after. Overall Mum is happy and at peace there.

Litiana KurisaqilaJob Title:Care Home ManagerJoined: 2021

Litiana has worked in the Health and Social Care sector for over 10 years and joined The Headington Care Home as Home Manager in 2021. She has always had a passion for caring for others and sought a career in care to be a helping hand and try to make a difference in the lives of others. Before becoming a Home Manager, Litiana had previous experience working as a Care Assistant and Home Trainer.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I enjoy the opportunity to make a difference in someone else’s life. I am lucky to work alongside a supportive and hard-working team who all share the same values and care about our residents.

What are your favourite hobbies and pastimes?

I am very sociable and enjoy meeting and being around people. I am also a big animal lover, so enjoy looking after them as well as spending time cooking, reading and dancing.

Please tell us about your work experience…

I have worked in the Health and Social Care industry since moving to the UK over 10 years ago. I started my career working as a Care Assistant before becoming a Senior Care Assistant, Home Trainer, Team Leader, Deputy Manager and eventually Home Manager this year.

Before moving to the UK, I worked on various government projects, most of which were community-based and focused on alleviating poverty in rural areas and caring for vulnerable people in the community. The people I met and the skills I learned whilst working in these communities inspired me to start a career in Social Care.

I completed my Management and Leadership qualification for Health and Social Care in 2017 and completed 18 months of Development and Leadership training.

What top tips would you give someone when looking for the right care home?

You should always have a gut feeling as to whether a home is right from the moment you walk in. There will be a welcoming atmosphere or something special that tells you deep down, this is the right home for your loved one.
