The management works very closely with the nursing and care support staff and have an excellent understanding of the residents in their care, who are treated as individuals and respected for their histories and their life experiences.
A commendable effort is made to establish a real and meaningful
rapport between staff and residents which enables a genuine feeling of community, continuity, care and support to be fostered in Headington Care Home which engenders an atmosphere of calm, safety and genuine understanding and empathy.
All staff, from housekeeping and kitchen staff through to care support, nursing and management, work together as an extraordinary team to produce a highly constructive environment for the best in dementia care.
Brilliant.

My husband was cared for totally professionally by all.

The care he received from all but especially from a certain staff member and her team was exemplary.

The way I was looked after at every visit and relatives that come from Worcester was much appreciated. Also, his final days and hours, how

thoughtful and compassionate everyone was. Excellent care.

Over a period of six years I have experienced the provision of 3 care homes for my parents. It is only Headington Care Home that I would wish to praise. Leadership (or a good manager) is key to setting standards, attitudes and values in the staffing. The leadership here shows commitment, passion and
joy and inspires many of the younger staff to further their training. I have witnessed the genuine time and compassion given to those in her care and her welcoming positive approach to their relatives. Headington Care Home will be highly recommended by my family.

The staff looked after my cousin for many years in a safe environment. Especially throughout his last days he was treated with dignity. His children and the rest of the family were allowed the time and space to spend quality time with him. The staff we were in regular contact with were exceptional,
including the coordinator, the staff nurse and another staff member for her support and understanding.

The carers at The Headington Care Home always go the extra mile and it is obvious that they really do care for and understand the needs of all the residents. My father had been in a number of homes before arriving at The Headington Care Home and it is such a relief to know that he is well cared for
in a clean and welcoming environment, where the staff are always cheerful and attentive.

My father was admitted to the Headington Care Home after his behaviour deteriorated. At his previous establishments he had been heavily sedated and was listless and unable to communicate. Since he has been at Headington his life has been transformed - though still very ill with advanced dementia he
is animated, laughs and smiles and is demonstrably happy. This is due almost entirely to the quality of care he has received which has been nothing short of exceptional in every respect.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.382)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.382) out of 10 for The Headington Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 21 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.407 for The Headington Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (146 Excellents x 5) + (60 Goods x 4) + (27 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (5 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 241 Ratings = 4.407
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Headington Care Home is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager at The Headington Care Home Joined: 2021

Litiana has worked in the Health and Social Care sector for over 10 years and joined The Headington Care Home as Home Manager in 2021. She has always had a passion for caring for others and sought a career in care to be a helping hand and try to make a difference in the lives of others. Prior to becoming a Home Manager, Litiana has previous experience working as a Care Assistant and Home Trainer.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy the opportunity to make a difference in someone else’s life. I am lucky to work alongside a supportive and hard-working team who all share the same values and care about our residents.

What are your favourite hobbies and pastimes?
I am very sociable and enjoy meeting and being around people. I am also a big animal lover, so enjoy looking after them as well as spending time cooking, reading and dancing.

Please tell us about your work experience…
I have worked in the Health and Social Care industry since moving to the UK over 10 years ago. I started my career working as a Care Assistant before becoming a Senior Care Assistant, Home Trainer, Team Leader, Deputy Manager and eventually Home Manager this year.

Before moving to the UK, I worked on various government projects, most of which were community based and focused on alleviating poverty in rural areas and caring for vulnerable people in the community. The people I met and the skills I learned whilst working in these communities inspired me to start a career in Social Care.

I completed my Management and Leadership qualification for Health and Social Care in 2017 and completed 18 months of Development and Leadership training.

What top tips would you give someone when looking for the right care home?
You should always have a gut feeling as to whether a home is right from the moment you walk in. There will be a welcoming atmosphere or something special that tells you deep down, this is the right home for your loved one.
