My husband came to Lucton House with Alzheimer's and following a couple of falls at home. We have found the carers here to be very considerate of his care and safety around the home. Food is varied, appetising and cooked in the premises. Various activities are well-planned and many residents seem to find these enjoyable. Importantly, staff and management are very approachable and welcoming - many thanks.

My mother has been living at Lucton House for 16 months now. This month she celebrated her 90th birthday. The staff team all worked hard to give her a lovely surprise party afternoon which she thoroughly enjoyed. Since being at Lucton house Mom has started to do hobbies she had given up and is now an active member of the knit and natter club which has been recently formed. Overall Mom is happy and content and is able to voice her opinions at the residents meetings that are held.

I chose to come to Lucton House for 2 weeks convalescence following abdominal surgery. My flatlet is light and bright with everything provided for a short stay as required. I've found it easy to chat with other residents, and the staff are all warm and supportive as I regain confidence to do tasks independently again. Initially I found the food a little disappointing as I had a poor appetite. However the manager was quickly responsive to my concerns and provided extras at my request. Overall, it has lived up to my expectations and been a really positive experience at a difficult time in my health journey.

We're very happy with the care and environment at Lucton House, the recent decorations and new furniture in the lounge has really changed the area, it's a lovely uplifting place to be. The staff really care and make the residents feel comfortable and happy. The activity programme is carefully planned with varied activities including visitors who come in to provide entertainment or therapy animals.

My husband and I have placed his 100 year old mother at Lucton House as he now has health issues. She loves it. The care is wonderful, nothing is too much trouble. Every aspect of her care is taken care of, and she is very settled. Mum tells everyone it's her home now and she loves it.

Whenever we visit my sister, she always has a lot to chat about and seems very bright and cheerful. All the staff are so friendly and helpful, which helps to make our visit more enjoyable.
I have been here for some of the social events and my sister has enjoyed then and also the outings she has gone on with members of staff.

She really likes her flat, it is always clean and tidy and very homely.

Mom continues to be well cared for and stimulated, not only by the activities but by the simple day to day interactions she has with staff and other residents.
It may seem a little thing but the use of her name, asking for her choices from options & explaining things to her are big plus points when it would be so easy not to do them.

Testimony to the staff & the ethos of the organisation

Great care home, staff are brilliant and friendly. Couldn't wish for anything better for dad, he has thoroughly enjoyed his time here and has loved the food. Having spent seven weeks on respite here we would definitely be happy for dad to stay permanently if his circumstances change.

Lucton House is a comfortable, homely building .
When our loved one first moved into Lucton House a couple of years ago , we couldn't fault the place . Unfortunately the last 12 months the place has gone down hill.
There is such a high turnover of staff & I think this needs to be looked into why this is happening.
Something we are disappointed with is our loved one being dressed in clothes that don't belong to them. I think it's really important to respect a persons identity & by dressing them in other people's clothes /shoes is not respectful at all. All clothes are labelled and each residents clothes should be washed individually to prevent cross contamination & clothes getting lost /mixed up.
On a few occasions the bathroom in our loved one's room has been left dirty & messy , with dirty pads thrown in the bath & clean pads hanging over the bathroom door!

Our loved one seems comfortable there , it's just a shame things of changed .

Visits to my sister are not getting easier because of her Alzheimer's disease. However, I was surprised to find, when I arrived at 12.30pm that her bed didn't look fully made and there was a smell of urine in the room. I went in to the bathroom and found a pile of dirty clothes ready for washing.
