Very happy with mum's care. Nice to see investment into property to up the standard. Have not really had any problems or concerns. Staff always happy and helpful. I have seen staff changes often over the 3 years, but have no reason to complain. All staff, past & present, have always been helpful and made mums life as pleasant as can be expected under the circumstances.
The staff have treated my mother with kindness and dignity. The management and staff are improving the home considerably from where it has been in the past. They seem hardworking, friendly and dedicated to their roles. We are grateful for the love and care they gave my mother, up to her sad passing recently.
This place is head and shoulders above other homes in the area . We viewed many others , before moving Mum from the place she was in following her stroke , and nowhere can compare. The improvement in her is amazing , the staff, level of care , the food , activities , all play a part of in the quality of day to day life for residents. I know many feel safe , secure and as my Mum says ". the Staff don't just know my name , they know who I am " . I have seen huge improvements in the decor and staff all due to brilliant Management , it feels even more like a home .
When we arrived at the home, the staff were so welcoming. We introduced ourselves as it was the 1st time we had visited our aunt in this home. Elena introduced herself and some of the other staff members. We visited every day for a week and were made to feel part of things. The staff knew our names within a couple of days. There are activities for the residents, our aunt has settled very well, she is happy and occupied. The home is bright and airy, with a lovely garden. Her room overlooks the garden and was spotless.
My late husband was treated with kindness, dignity & great care. All the staff were very kind & caring towards him. All staff were very kind to us when we visited each day. I would recommend Horton Cross to anyone looking for a nursing home.
Our grandma moved to Horton across a few months ago after moving from another nursing home. I can't explain how Horton exceeded all my expectations. Grandma is really treated like an individual who has something to contribute to the place, not like a patient but a resident of a tight community. She is bounds happier here than where she has been previously - the freedom is the main thing, she can stay in her (very spacious personalised) room if she wishes, she can make her way down to the living room in the lift. She tells me the meals are lovely. The staff are so kind. There are so many things to keep them entertained - quizzes, garden parties, coffee mornings. We are incredibly grateful to all the staff for their ongoing care and kindness. Facilitating care can be very complex and hard to be perfect for everyone but I would genuinely recommended this place.
The level of care that my late father received from the team at Horton Cross Nursing Home has been absolutely fantastic. He'd been given all the help and support he'd needed during his stay there, and the staff members had all been very kind, caring, courteous, and considerate throughout. That said, having to wait three months after his death for the deposit repayments to be given the authorisation to be refunded in full by Sentimental Care was rather frustrating to say the least. The management and admin at Horton Cross also felt that it reflected badly on them, especially as they were the ones who had to chase things up on our behalf. None of this was in any way their fault, however, and it in no way detracted from the high level of care which they'd provided. IF Sentimental Care addresses the speed with which it makes repayments to the bereaved following the loss of a loved one to back up that high level of nursing care, I'm sure it would make it an even better experience for all concerned.
Very friendly & helpful. Seems spotlessly clean. Lovely garden. Very caring.
The home is welcoming with no unpleasant smells. The staff are all very caring. My brother is always clean and dressed smartly. If you ring with queries, the call is always answered promptly. Lots of activities for the residents and a beautiful garden for them to sit out in.
All of the staff I have met are friendly, polite, and professional. Helping to make Mum and I feel welcome and important in Mum's "new" home. The management listens to preferences & concerns so we can all work together to make this change in living arrangements as good as it can be.
A lovely manager is welcoming and takes time to listen. A friendly, welcoming environment with attentive and motivated staff. Well led team, well maintained environment. Residents are encouraged to get involved with the activities, including accessing the recently refurbished garden. Staff work efficiently but with care and a great deal of respect for residents, and are friendly and supportive of relatives/visitors' needs. An ongoing program of refurbishment is working to update and improve all the rooms, which is welcomed.
This Care Home, I would really avoid the quality is very poor the food is very poor and a hygiene is very poor and I've had to get in contact with CQC but regarding this Care Home and the staff it's not clever either just from personal experience I really would avoid this Care Home as you can see from the other reviews that people have wrote about this Care Home as well.
Horton Cross Nursing Home is a warm, caring home. All the staff go above and beyond to make their residents feel respected, safe and well cared for. My mother is a resident, and as a daughter, I have complete peace of mind that all of her needs are met, and she is emotionally and physically stimulated and loves all the staff. I can not fault this home and would recommend. *****
Aunty decided to move into residential care when she felt unable to cope at home. Physical frailty and increasing "muddiness" necessitated transfer to a nursing home - Horton Cross. She has felt safe and comfortable here. I have been very impressed by the standard of care and attention to detail that the staff have shown to Aunty & to the other residents. Kindness and patience are always shown. There is always a comfortable family atmosphere. I give my thanks to everyone at Horton Cross for taking the time to understand Aunty, and for making her life as pleasant as possible given her health & care needs.
My Aunt has been living at Horton Cross for 2 years now. Whenever I visit I am impressed by the professionalism and kindness of all the staff and the time taken to get to know each resident and respond to there individual preferences with calm patience. On our most recent visit my Aunt was quite unwell and the care she received was exemplary. The New Manager gives this team of lovely careing people the support, encouragement, and leadership that they so deserve. She is also generous with the time she willingly gives to her residents and their famillies. The recent improvements both internally and to the gardens add to the welcoming ambience.
The medical team, carers and staff have been excellent looking after my father for the past 2 years. The home is friendly and welcoming and the nursing home has an excellent manager in place who the staff trust and respect. As a family we are thankful that Dad was looked after with dignity, kindness and care in his final years.
The staff are amazing, kind and considerate, chatty and always helps when asked. Clean and tidy home. Laundry good, mum always looks clean and tidy. I feel mum is safe here and that's very important to us as a family. The food is very good, portions served are perfect for mum. Entertainment good.
Mum has only been at Horton Cross for two weeks. The staff are all very welcoming and hard working. The staff have been amazing and made sure us and mum are happy. The entertainment team leader is amazing too, she works so hard, I notice doing more jobs than just entertainment. So far all is going well in the home. It's difficult for us to except mum need this care!
Visited my mum on 19th November. Made very welcome by everyone and had an informative talk of future plans for mum. Mum was in the lounge area dressed, warm and contented. While there, she was asked what she would like for lunch. Very attentive staff.
Home is clean, tidy and staff welcoming. Resident's room is clean and calm. Resident is regularly taken out of their room into the pleasant day room for lunch time. Nursing staff could have been more proactive in obtaining GP intervention when resident went without an active prescribed treatment for psoriasis in early December. The psoriasis was causing itching and discomfort.
