View Full Details of The Poplars Nursing & Residential Care HomeMum is well looked after, her health & mobility had improved, mum seems to enjoy the activities. Mum is mixing well with the other residents. Staff inform the family of any issues, appointments, etc. Staff are always willing to spare time and talk to the family when we visit
I have found the home excellent for my sister , who was previously bed bound in her flat. Since moving into the care home she now moves about, takes part in activities and is enjoying her stay. The staff are excellent and moving her into this home was an excellent choice .
My Mum was in temporary residential care here from the end of March 2025 to the end of July 2025. The care she received from the moment she arrived to the moment she left was first class. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Her mental health improved significantly whilst there. She became more outgoing and made friends and joined in the activities. Previously she was in her own home with carers visiting four times a day. The only reason we moved her was to be closer to family. The staff were all professional and a pleasure to talk to, If we had any concerns they would always listen to us. The whole family are very grateful for the care and understanding that received whilst there. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this home to anyone.
This morning I attended the Coffee morning with the connection to Wimbledon and was presented with scones strawberry jam and cream and a cup of tea . I don't think I have ever seen so many relatives attending an event before this is testament to appreciate the work that the Staff give . My husband after eating his scones and cream was asking for the newspaper which he enjoys reading . Keep up the good work girls .
My mum went to Poplars for emergency care. She was there for a few months in the end. Everyone was so supportive in a very difficult situation because of her dementia. She went from telling me frequently each day that she wanted to go home, to giving tearful goodbyes and hugs to everyone when she was moved to a permanent home. I felt that attention was paid to my mum and her needs in a very individual way, it was recognised that she liked to help and spend as much time ouside as possible. All this contributed enormously to her settling in to her new home. I can't thank Poplars enough for what they have done.
Very many thanks to the management team, the nursing staff, the carers and the ladies who carry out regular activities for the residents at Poplars, all of whom look after my husband with kindness, empathy, respect and professionalism: all the staff genuinely care for the residents and their well-being. Not forgetting the cleaning and the dining staff who also make you feel welcome: a smile, a hello and a wave go a long way. I would have no hesitation in recommending Poplars to anyone who is considering a place for their loved one, Poplars is a happy, friendly care home with a lovely atmosphere with caring and approachable staff and management.
Dad moved into Poplars after being discharged from hospital following a fall in January 2025. He stayed there until the end of May 2025. He has now moved back home. It was the perfect place for him to regain his health and confidence. He was incredibly well looked after during his stay. Initially he found the adjustment difficult but the staff were extremely good at helping him settle. They looked after all his needs (including re-registering him with a new GP) taking a lot of pressure off family members. He formed a good bond with a number of staff members. He's pleased to be back at home but if his circumstances change we would not hesitate in seeking Poplars help again. From a personal perspective, I found the management team incredibly helpful. Their confidence and support took a weight off my mind and gave our whole family comfort in Dad's care and wellbeing.
The management Team of carers, medical staff and all the staff that work along side have always been there for my Mum,myself and sister. Always keeping us upto speed with things concerning Mum and having ideas and solutions ready to help. The carers are great with my mum nothing is to much trouble for them. Also the cleaners have a thankless job but do it with care, commitment and passion. It's a great relief to know that mum is safe and well looked after 24/7 we all appreciate what you do for mum especially when we have another Elderly parent ill at home. Thank you everything that you do.
My mum is at The Poplars Nursing home. The manager and staff are really caring. There is activities going on everyday which is brilliant for the residents, as well as us visitors. The home is kept tidy and very clean. I can't fault the home or the staff they have all been amazing with my mum and I couldn't wish for better staff to look after her.
My mum has been at The Poplars for a while now and I am very happy with the care that she receives. All the staff are very gentle and understanding with her and I could not ask for any more as my mum has quite advanced dementia and can be quite challenging at times. Also the interaction with the staff, management and family members make us believe that we are also involved with every aspect of mums care.
I can only say good things about The Poplars. My mom has been residing there since November 2023, and she has recieved fantastic care from everyone who is involved in her care, from the owners, nursing team, carers, chefs, laundry & domestic teams. If I ever have a problem or concern, I know if I contact the home the problem will be sorted without any delay. Mom is always clean & tidy, she has her hair and finger nails done by the hairdresser every week, which is something she used to do when she could live independently. There is regular entertainment, singers, dancers, visits from pets etc. We take our dog to see her when we visit which she also enjoys. The bedrooms are kept spotless, as are the sitting rooms & dining room. The meals look & smell delicious, Mom eats everything put in front of her. All in all, I don't think we could have found a better home for her to live in.
Since my wife's admission to the Poplars I have found the staff very caring, have a cheerful outlook and prepared to make the residents' stay as fulfilling as possible given the differing physical and mental abilities of those residents. Initially, my wife had difficulty with the adjustment to living there but the staff were very supportive in addressing the problems and helping us both through a difficult stage in our lives. I have found they treat visitors with respect and are as helpful as possible.
My wife is a resident in the care home and is treated with the utmost respect, the care she receives is first class and help she receives is second to none, if she has a problem the staff are very helpful and act straight away.
It has gone way downhill since my previous grandmother was in there in 2014. My auntie, father and sister go on my behalf now, because where my nanna is now where other residents are and they upset other residents who have "worse dementia" than my grandmother and one even screamed down my ear and I'm autistic and it was not pleasant, but that was the only time the staff actually did something about it! Not only that, every time we go, the staff or dementia residents always take my nanna's stuff and never to be seen again. When we or my auntie go to complain about this staff do nothing about it and my auntie has complained too many times now to the "manager" and does absolutely nothing about it! Also the staff are still on their phones rather than doing their job, which if that's the case why are they in this job? So please send someone to check that place, because the good rating on CQC I think is faulty.
Much improved service, friendly and helpful staff. Clean and warm environment. I'm happy and feel at ease with my mother being cared for at this home. Sometimes have to wait to get in at weekends as there is no office staff but overall a good place.
I looked at other care homes in this area and this one came top in my opinion regarding value for money and the experience, kindness and understanding of the staff. There is also a call system in every room that will alert the nursing staff and care staff 24 hours a day and just one more thing the food is excellent.
My mum says she feels safe at Poplars. That is comforting for her family. She is fed well and the staff are very attentive. She has made lots of friends during the year she has been a resident. Thank you for looking after my mum.
