View Full Details of The Old Lodge Nursing HomeWe have recently moved our Mum over to The Old Lodge so she is closer to the family, making frequent visits easier to manage. She has only been there a few weeks but the transition has been as smooth as we could have hoped for. She is now able to access more need specific equipment for her advanced dementia and lack of mobility. The staff have actioned our requests for certain environmental considerations due to Mum being unable to vocalise her needs and wishes and have been very supportive throughout. The kindness and understanding really shows. Mum was happy and well cared for previously for nearly 5 years at her previous care home so this was a big decision to move her. We definitely feel we made the right decision when we chose The Old Lodge and feel this is a home for life as her needs change, as they inevitably will
My Dad had been in The Old Lodge just under a year with Alzheimer's Dementia. He sadly passed away on the 31st August. The quality of care and kindness was like no other. From the Top - Matron, down through each and everyone of her staff, who could not do enough for my Dad, they were always happy, polite and treated him with dignity. The Lead Nurses are amazing along with all the other nursing staff. The Old Lodge is spotless they clean non stop. The food is exceptional and they cater for individual requirements. They also have Activities Staff, to help keep the residents minds and bodies active. In my Dad's last few days, my Brother and I, did not leave Dad's side. The Old Lodge went out of their way to support us, to enable us to be with him. Through Matron's amazing leadership, this place would not be what it is, without her, she works none stop with planning and new ideas. Thank you to everyone, my Dad loved you all, and so do I for looking after my Dad so well. x
My brother has not long been in this care home and the difference I've seen in him is great at the other home he was always in hospital and having fits but this home he as had nothing it's clean alot of space the staff are caring they have a lot of things going one and the manager is very good and friendly and you can see she cares about all the patients and staff thank you for taking care of him
I would like to recommend this nursing home. My husband, having received treatment in hospital for throat cancer , eventually he had to have a tracheostomy. He was fitted with a 'Portex endotracheal tube' which is very complex. He was struggling with his mental health being in hospital but no nursing home would offer a place due to his complex tracheostomy. The Old Lodge arranged for their nurses to attend the hospital for training and he recently transferred to the Old Lodge. The staff have been so professional and caring for my husband's physical and medical needs and also his emotional needs as he learns to live with the portex tube. I highly recommend this nursing home as they have gone beyond all expectations to offer a safe and caring home from home for my husband and all the family whenever we visit. Nothing is too much trouble from answering my endless questions to giving me support and advice when I need it.
I had been searching for months to find a suitable place for my mum who has complex needs (vascular dementia, heart failure...) and is in her 90's. As sooon as I walked through the door, I knew it was the right environment. Mum has been at the Old Lodge Nursing Home since the beginning of the year. I cannot fault the staff. Every single one of them show such care, gentleness and compassion towards, often challenging, residents. Ensuring that each resident's diginity is preserved. Staff are professional and confident. This is my first, direct experience with a nursing home. I was extremely apprehensive about leaving Mum when visiting other establishments. It is a relief to find somewhere where all the staff care so profoundly for their charges. It has been a huge relief to know that matron, and her lead clinicians, fight for the rights of patients - medical, funding, etc. They have taken a great deal of stress out of the whole situation. I couldn't recommend highly enough.
My Mother started residing at The Old Lodge in December 2024 due to her suffering from vascular dementia at the age of 95. During her stay, until she sadly passed in April 2025, the staff and management were absolutely fantastic. They cared for and treated her as if she were their own Mother. The facility is kept spotlessly clean and visitors are welcomed with open arms. I live in the United States and the staff went out of their way to keep me appraised of Mum's health and facilitate video calls with her. Following Mum's death I received numerous messages of sympathy from staff members and management. I can't speak highly enough of this care home.
Mum has severe Alzheimers and vascular dementia and spent the previous two years in a different care home. She has been at the Old Lodge less than 5 weeks at the time of writing. She arrived for end of life care; confined to bed, very underweight and withdrawn. The decline had been gradual over a long period of time prior. Now settled at the Old Lodge Mum spends most of her day in the communal areas, stimulated by activities and conversation, plus she is putting on weight. It is wonderful to see the change in Mum. She looks well cared for and I have witnessed so much kindness and dignity towards her. I entirely attribute this change in Mum to the skilful care and dedication of the staff who all work together as a team and are clearly well led by matron and her lead clinician - both of whom are also available to talk with residents and their families. I know from experience the difference a well-led home can make and this is most certainly very good and very well-led.
My husband was a resident at The Old Lodge for 9 months (from April 2024), after being in hospital with a fractured hip and dementia with Parkinson's. His care by the Matron and her staff was so kind and caring. They were friendly, welcoming and always offered us a drink. The food was very good and varied. Everywhere was very clean and my husband was kept clean and well cared for. When he passed away, the staff treated both myself and our family with the utmost respect and care. I would highly recommend The Old Lodge to anyone.
The Old Lodge Nursing home. Simply beautiful. Management, Matron and staff have been fantastic throughout my Mum and Dad's stay. The Home is immaculately clean and it is clear in every aspect of the way it is run that the foremost priority is for the health and well-being of the residents. Matron's enthusiasm for the care of her residents flows down to the care staff. The management team and highly skilled professional nursing staff provide exemplary care and no nursing home could have done more. We, with illness and COVID, were unable to see Mum but through family and friends who did visit found Mum being looked after with respect, dignity and empathy and the staff were always there to attend and help. We cannot thank Matron and all the staff enough for the care shown to our Mum and Dad. We would not hesitate to recommend The Old Lodge to anyone, they not only look after the residents but family and friends too. With Kindest Regards and Respect. Love on you all.
Our mother who suffered with Alzheimer's dementia was looked after at The Old Lodge Nursing Home for almost 4 years. She went there after suffering a broken leg because of a fall at her previous care home. She never became mobile again but was given fantastic care by all the staff, right to the very end. All of the staff were very patient and good with Mum and we could tell she liked them. We the family were very grateful for all the compassion and care that was given to Mum. We wanted to make sure that someone from the family was there with her at the end and they made sure that this happened when the time came and Mum had a very peaceful passing. We would not hesitate in recommending them to anyone who had friends or family who needed care. Thanks to all the staff that looked after Mum for all that time.
Excellent and consistent care from the manager and her dedicated team throughout the almost two year stay of my mother. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they always take their time to build quality relationships with all the residents.
We are delighted with the care for our Mum and Mother-in-law. The staff are so kind and patient with our Mums, they are so well cared for and all the staff are amazing and genuinely kind and caring. A huge thank you to everyone, it's so appreciated.
My partner and I lost his mum in February 2024 after a brief stay at the Old Lodge Nursing Home where she moved to after a fall at her original care home, resulting in a broken hip. She had dementia, and the time she spent in hospital was very distressing for her and us as she was used to being mobile but this was taken away from her. Her hospital stay was prolonged due to contracting COVID followed by an infection in the wound of her hip replacement. The Old Lodge were so supportive during this period, keeping a room available and working with us and for us to get Mum released from hospital and home to them. Thanks to the superb care provided by the matron and her team our Mum soon settled in and became less agitated. When we visited the staff were friendly, welcoming and always offered us a drink. When we sadly lost Mum, the Matron and the team again stepped up providing support to us during a difficult time. Thank you, your respect, care and empathy was greatly appreciated.
The staff at The Old Lodge clearly understand how it feels for a loved one to have to move into a home - both what it represents for the person and for their family. As such the care and kindness they show is warm and tailored to the individual, as if they were caring for their own loved one. The atmosphere here does not feel like a typical nursing home, there is a real sense of family here. Matron has instilled an ethos of dignity, compassion and kindness that all of the staff personify. She is so worthy of the trust put in her by all the residents' loved ones, and has been an unfailing support to our family. The chef and the kitchen staff provide wonderful food, and have been so accommodating of Mum's tastes and needs, as well as ours when we visit. The nursing staff have gone above and beyond for Mum, showing genuine care and concern for her needs and her wellbeing.
Finding ourselves with a family member in full-time care has been a difficult thing to come to terms with. The Old Lodge has been amazing in supporting us through this. They've quickly made us all feel at ease and have become our second family. Staff are professional, friendly and incredibly caring. There is a lovely atmosphere in the communal spaces. My husband has been a resident of Old Lodge for 18 months now and the care he has received has been outstanding. He is treated with dignity, respect and a loving care by all staff. They have supported us in celebrating family milestones together and making more precious memories something we are so grateful for. Thank you to everyone at The Old Lodge for easing this very difficult time for us. We are happy to recommend them to anyone who is looking for high-quality nursing care.
I would like to express my deepest thanks to The Old Lodge Nursing Home. The whole team, are just amazing. My father became a resident back in January and he was with them till nearly the end of April when he sadly passed away. The level of care he received was truly outstanding. When he first arrived, the Matron, assured us all guests were treated like family, they were true to their word and some. My sister and I both felt included, made to feel welcome every time we visited. The food is fantastic, with a large variety for residents to choose from. The rooms are bright, spacious and cleaned extremely well, regularly and whenever needed. A 5-star level of dignity for all guests. The building is beautiful, a proper country home meets nursing care medical centre. As I said before the whole team are amazing, but more specifically, Matron. She is wonderful, I felt reassured immediately upon meeting her. Thank you again for everything what a wonderful job you all do
I cannot thank the team at the Old Lodge enough for the excellent care and support they have given my mother over the past 12 months. The home is very well run, patients cared for extremely well and their commutation with us as a family in support of my mother has been great. In her final months, she could not have been in a better place and that has been a great comfort to us all. Thank you for looking after her so well.
My father-in-law was admitted to The Old Lodge Nursing Home in October 2023 following a fall that resulted in a broken hip. The care he received was excellent. The staff were professional, caring and friendly. Sadly, my father-in-law died at the beginning of January but we know the last weeks of his life were spent in the best place he could have been with wonderful, caring staff.
From the moment I contacted the Old Lodge, the team were so incredibly helpful and supportive. I desperately needed a room for my grandma with her rapidly changing needs and, having visited, I knew this would be the best place for her. It was so clean with tasteful decor and there was such warmth in the atmosphere in the home every time I visited. The attention to detail of the (Matron) and her team is immeasurable and their respect and loving nature towards their residents are simply amazing. Every single member of the team is friendly and welcoming and I will be forever grateful that my granny was able to be cared for by such a dedicated team.
I had to move my stepmom due to dementia related episodes from a previous nursing home, supported by social services. Myself I came from a performance driven organisation, I needed to support my stepmom with 100% quality nursing care, with love and assurance this would be possible. On initial first asking and monitoring actions across a wide range of activities, I could not fault this nursing home! This had already been established, communicated within everyone who was committed towards total quality of exceptional personal care. All staff take pride in everything they do, and are happy in doing so! They provide a fantastic service always going that extra mile to ensure all residents, families, third parties and their own staff are accounted for. Communication is second to none. Delicate and personal situations dealt with, always professional, treated with sincerest empathy, guidance direction and support. This is down to the team, and the vision of its matron. Thank you!
