Woodpeckers is an informal but professionally run home. More akin to a Country House than a formal, regimented care home. During her almost 4-year stay, my mum had been looked after with care, compassion and dignity whilst she was able. She had many enjoyable times with the entertainment team, who constantly came up with new ways of helping her pass the time and bring many a smile to her face. The care team too were excellent, especially in mum's final days. Standards of hygiene and cleanliness are excellent, and the food is good and varied. I would definitely recommend Woodpeckers.
Woodpeckers was recommended to us by the family of a friend of my mother. She has been there for a couple of years and could not speak more highly of her experience. Mum has now been there for 3 weeks, and the staff and residents could have been more welcoming. Above all, it's the feel of the place that is so special, and we are so pleased to have found it.
I would thoroughly recommend "Woodpeckers", being homely and safe, with pleasant staff. All who do more than required each and every day. Dietary needs are adhered to at all times. Safety for the residents at all times.
Choosing a care home is not an easy decision, but from the moment I walked in Woodpeckers, we knew we had found the right place. The staff here go above and beyond to ensure that mum is well looked after, they are the heart of Woodpeckers. Mum has been here since November the staff are warm, friendly, patient and professional. From personal care to emotional support they make me feel comfortable and valued. The facilities are clean and safe her room is bright and cosy with lovely communal areas with a beautiful garden. The staff always keep me in the loop. I couldn't recommend Woodpeckers more highly.
Woodpeckers fully deserves its 'outstanding award'. All the usual care facilities are first class but more importantly personal care for individual residents is outstanding. My elderly friend sees Woodpeckers as her home.
Woodpeckers provide my 102-year-old mother with a safe, caring, supportive and warm place to live. The staff are caring, professional and courteous.
I am most impressed with all aspects of the care provided. The facilities are first class of the standard of a good country house hotel. The staff at every level are excellent. Fulfilling their duties most efficiently but also in a friendly and most importantly caring manner. The manager is always responsive and helpful. The care home is highly recommended.
My mother has been at Woodpeckers for 17 months now and is very happy. Her sight and mobility are very limited, and all of the staff are very helpful and encouraging in helping her to participate in some of the activities.
The quality of the home is very good but does come at a price. Residents are well looked after and there is always something to keep them engaged. The gardens at Woodpeckers are a huge asset and certainly loved by my mother.
The level of care my mother has received at Woodpecker is exceptional. Two years as a resident has shown me just how we should be caring for our elderly. I cannot single out any particular members of the staff as everyone from the top downwards has treated my mother with dignity, respect and compassion. I have been kept informed of changes to her health every step of the way and I have never felt like a nuisance asking questions. The rooms, public and private are welcoming and comfortable. The food and activities are top notch. Woodpeckers is truly a very special place indeed.
My mothr has been in Woodpeckers almost two years, and every night on the phone, she tells me how lucky she feels to be in such a wonderful home. She is full of praise for all the staff, and comments on how everyone is always smiling. I would add that I greatly appreciate the fact that all the staff are so amazingly patient and quite outstanding in their care. Mother describes the food as being 'just the sort of food you would cook yourself'. This contributes to her feeling that Woodpeckers really is her home. When any of the family visit her - particularly her great grandchildren - everyone is warmly welcomed, and encouraged to join her for lunch or tea. Mother loves the fact that there is always something going on, and I appreciate the entertainment staff sending me the weekly activities sheet, with comment and photos of what Mother has been up to. Mother particularly enjoys the visits by the local school children, and the weekly mini-bus outing. She also really appreciated the beautiful garden, which she tells she walks around several times a day. In her words 'she can't find fault with anything' and neither can I!
My mum has been in Woodpeckers for about 15 months and they have just taken my dad too, which took some organising/re-organising on their part - very grateful to the manager for that. All the staff are super caring in a clearly genuine way- they are genuinely kind. Food, facilities and activities are also top-notch, and the garden is beautiful, including animal carvings, etc, that go above & beyond. A really lovely place.
My mother stayed for approximately three years in the care of Woodpeckers nursing home. My family and I have nothing but great respect for the hard-working staff. They made my mum feel part of a big family and nothing was too much for them to do for her. The garden is beautiful and my mum so enjoyed sitting out whilst she could. I cannot thank them enough for their care and love as she neared and finally came to the end of her life.
My father spent three weeks post-hip replacement at Woodpeckers. He received outstanding care. All the staff were exceptional and nothing was too much trouble. They always greeted him with a smile and a laugh and every day made him smile. The food was always of a high standard with plenty of choice. They managed his medication and exercises brilliantly and his mobility is returning very well thanks to their dedication. Thank you so much for everything.
Moved into Woodpeckers two weeks ago after struggling to cope at home. Immediately made to feel welcome by the friendly caring efficient staff. They understand my needs, and my medical situation, and have ensured I am comfortable and cared for. Happy to make this my forever home.
The staff are unfailingly cheerful and helpful. The food is very good. I couldn't think of a better place to be to treat my mental condition.
I came into Woodpeckers for respite after a major operation. The care I have had is exceptional and way beyond my expectations. Sufficient that I doubled the length of my stay! The staff are so friendly, so patient and so caring. They come from many different countries and work happily together. Food is delicious and plentiful. A menu created with choices to suit all appetites and diets. Activates are varied from quizzes, games, crafts - something for everyone, morning and afternoon. A beautiful garden has been created with pathways for residents to maintain some form of fitness.
My aunt was very happy with Woodpeckers Care Home from the first time we visited the home and was shown around, we loved the place too. All staff were so kind and helpful, they could not have done their job any better, from the maintenance man, the cleaner, the chef, all her nurses and carers, all took a keen interest in my aunt. It was a pleasure every time we visited her. A very big thank you.
In one word, "outstanding". They could not have been more caring and professional. Always cheerful, nothing was too much trouble. Our mother enjoyed her time here. Thank you.
