Originally a private residence, Woodpeckers has been tastefully extended and adapted to provide every modern convenience, while still retaining a homely atmosphere.

Residents enjoy companionship and can join in with singing, music, exercise and arts and crafts sessions. There is the opportunity for gentle gardening activities in the summer sunshine, and there is a busy pen pal scheme.
The home is registered for nursing care and staffed by dedicated nurses and health care professionals with extensive experience in caring for age-related conditions and fully trained in infection control.

The home is situated in the village of Brockenhurst in the heart of the New Forest and is within walking distance of local shops, the church and doctor's surgery.

At Woodpeckers there is a choice of comfortable lounges where residents can socialise, watch television or spend some quiet time, and an attractive conservatory where many activities take place. It overlooks the pretty landscaped garden which has been purposely designed for wheelchair users. The garden also hosts a water feature and oak-framed gazebo suitable for all weathers.

The dining room provides waitress service and varied choices of home-made food. The meals are balanced and nutritious and special diets can be catered for.

The bedrooms are tastefully furnished and most have en-suite facilities for privacy and convenience. Residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms by bringing their own pictures, ornaments and small pieces of furniture.

Woodpeckers is an informal but professionally run home. More akin to a Country House than a formal, regimented care home. During her almost 4-year stay, my mum had been looked after with care, compassion and dignity whilst she was able. She had many enjoyable times with the entertainment team, who constantly
came up with new ways of helping her pass the time and bring many a smile to her face. The care team too were excellent, especially in mum's final days. Standards of hygiene and cleanliness are excellent, and the food is good and varied. I would definitely recommend Woodpeckers.

Woodpeckers was recommended to us by the family of a friend of my mother. She has been there for a couple of years and could not speak more highly of her experience. Mum has now been there for 3 weeks, and the staff and residents could have been more welcoming. Above all, it's the feel of the place
that is so special, and we are so pleased to have found it.

Choosing a care home is not an easy decision, but from the moment I walked in Woodpeckers, we knew we had found the right place.The staff here go above and beyond to ensure that mum is well looked after, they are the heart of Woodpeckers. Mum has been here since November the staff are warm, friendly,
patient and professional. From personal care to emotional support they make me feel comfortable and valued. The facilities are clean and safe her room is bright and cosy with lovely communal areas with a beautiful garden.The staff always keep me in the loop. I couldn't recommend Woodpeckers more highly.

Woodpeckers fully deserves its 'outstanding award'. All the usual care facilities are first class but more importantly personal care for individual residents is outstanding. My elderly friend sees Woodpeckers as her home.

I am most impressed with all aspects of the care provided. The facilities are first class of the standard of a good country house hotel. The staff at every level are excellent. Fulfilling their duties most efficiently but also in a friendly and most importantly caring manner. The manager is always responsive
and helpful. The care home is highly recommended.

My mother has been at Woodpeckers for 17 months now and is very happy. Her sight and mobility are very limited, and all of the staff are very helpful and encouraging in helping her to participate in some of the activities.

The quality of the home is very good but does come at a price. Residents are well looked after and there is always something to keep them engaged. The gardens at Woodpeckers are a huge asset and certainly loved by my mother.

The level of care my mother has received at Woodpecker is exceptional. Two years as a resident has shown me just how we should be caring for our elderly. I cannot single out any particular members of the staff as everyone from the top downwards has treated my mother with dignity, respect and compassion.
I have been kept informed of changes to her health every step of the way and I have never felt like a nuisance asking questions. The rooms, public and private are welcoming and comfortable. The food and activities are top notch. Woodpeckers is truly a very special place indeed.

My mothr has been in Woodpeckers almost two years, and every night on the phone, she tells me how lucky she feels to be in such a wonderful home. She is full of praise for all the staff, and comments on how everyone is always smiling. I would add that I greatly appreciate the fact that all the staff
are so amazingly patient and quite outstanding in their care. Mother describes the food as being 'just the sort of food you would cook yourself'. This contributes to her feeling that Woodpeckers really is her home. When any of the family visit her - particularly her great grandchildren - everyone is warmly welcomed, and encouraged to join her for lunch or tea. Mother loves the fact that there is always something going on, and I appreciate the entertainment staff sending me the weekly activities sheet, with comment and photos of what Mother has been up to. Mother particularly enjoys the visits by the local school children, and the weekly mini-bus outing. She also really appreciated the beautiful garden, which she tells she walks around several times a day. In her words 'she can't find fault with anything' and neither can I!

My mum has been in Woodpeckers for about 15 months and they have just taken my dad too, which took some organising/re-organising on their part - very grateful to the manager for that. All the staff are super caring in a clearly genuine way- they are genuinely kind. Food, facilities and activities are
also top-notch, and the garden is beautiful, including animal carvings, etc, that go above & beyond. A really lovely place.

My mother stayed for approximately three years in the care of Woodpeckers nursing home. My family and I have nothing but great respect for the hard-working staff. They made my mum feel part of a big family and nothing was too much for them to do for her. The garden is beautiful and my mum so enjoyed
sitting out whilst she could. I cannot thank them enough for their care and love as she neared and finally came to the end of her life.

My father spent three weeks post-hip replacement at Woodpeckers. He received outstanding care. All the staff were exceptional and nothing was too much trouble. They always greeted him with a smile and a laugh and every day made him smile. The food was always of a high standard with plenty of choice.
They managed his medication and exercises brilliantly and his mobility is returning very well thanks to their dedication. Thank you so much for everything.

I came into Woodpeckers for respite after a major operation. The care I have had is exceptional and way beyond my expectations. Sufficient that I doubled the length of my stay! The staff are so friendly, so patient and so caring. They come from many different countries and work happily together. Food
is delicious and plentiful. A menu created with choices to suit all appetites and diets. Activates are varied from quizzes, games, crafts - something for everyone, morning and afternoon. A beautiful garden has been created with pathways for residents to maintain some form of fitness.

My aunt was very happy with Woodpeckers Care Home from the first time we visited the home and was shown around, we loved the place too. All staff were so kind and helpful, they could not have done their job any better, from the maintenance man, the cleaner, the chef, all her nurses and carers, all took
