Originally a private residence, Woodpeckers has been tastefully extended and adapted to provide every modern convenience, while still retaining a homely atmosphere.

Residents enjoy companionship and can join in with singing, music, exercise and arts and crafts sessions. There is the opportunity for gentle gardening activities in the summer sunshine, and there is a busy pen pal scheme.
The home is registered for nursing care and staffed by dedicated nurses and health care professionals with extensive experience in caring for age-related conditions and fully trained in infection control.

The home is situated in the village of Brockenhurst in the heart of the New Forest and is within walking distance of local shops, the church and doctor's surgery.

At Woodpeckers there is a choice of comfortable lounges where residents can socialise, watch television or spend some quiet time, and an attractive conservatory where many activities take place. It overlooks the pretty landscaped garden which has been purposely designed for wheelchair users. The garden also hosts a water feature and oak-framed gazebo suitable for all weathers.

The dining room provides waitress service and varied choices of home-made food. The meals are balanced and nutritious and special diets can be catered for.

The bedrooms are tastefully furnished and most have en-suite facilities for privacy and convenience. Residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms by bringing their own pictures, ornaments and small pieces of furniture.

Did I know I was to walk into my happy, happy dream home - from the most welcome smile and terminology by the receptionist then welcomed as he bought us from our reserved parking place. The welcome was warm, so welcoming and genuine, I felt at home within minutes. The staff are all such a top team,
kind, thoughtful and they all listen. I would like to live here forever but I feel that my husband could not live without me. Sometimes we dislike each other and tell each other such but the deep love is deeper than the deepest ocean. 60.5 years married.

My husband has been a resident in Woodpeckers for 22 months and my daughters and I have nothing but praise for it. The home always has a warm and welcoming atmosphere at any time of day. The manager and lead nurse are readily available for queries or discussions and nothing is too much trouble. The
staff, in every area, are courteous and helpful and the care my husband receives is excellent. The choice of food is varied and caters for all tastes and is of high quality. In addition, there are different activities and outings available. Woodpeckers have a very high reputation in Brockenhurst.

Excellent care and above and beyond duty.
The staff are all incredible, kind, caring and friendly. My mum was kept comfortable throughout her stay and was very happy until she passed away.

I found that Woodpeckers was a most caring, and efficiently run home. The nursing was excellent and gave me the feeling of great security. All the staff in the home were most caring and helpful.

Mum has lived in Woodpeckers for five and a half years. When she moved in she was ill and very disorientated with dementia. Within a short period, the staff had settled her in and she absolutely thrived! There is nothing about Woodpeckers that I can fault. The staff in all areas have been wonderfully
kind. She has eaten well, been stimulated with activities from crafts to gardening and given the kindest treatment in all aspects of her care. I can highly recommend Woodpeckers. It deserves its outstanding status. Thank you so much to everyone for their loving kindness.

Since moving into Woodpeckers, I've felt really happy as the carers make me feel at ease and are always attentive, sometimes they may talk a bit quiet for me to understand them, but they do repeat and we eventually understand each other. I do like it with the different types of activities and I do try
to go as much as possible. When my family visit, they are always made to feel welcome.

The area is beautiful and lovely to look out on. Watching the wildlife is very interesting. The gardens are very well kept and lovely to sit out in. The care staff are all very friendly and helpful, a good choice of food.
