Without exception, the staff have been professional, gentle, kind, considerate and hugely caring. They were attentive to my mother's needs and ensured she was settled, comfortable and content.
My heart sang when I witnessed just how caring, patient and respectful they were with the residents, particularly those who needed additional attention at meal times.
The food was plentiful, varied and cooked nicely. The bedroom was comfortable and had a beautiful view.
All the staff - from reception to cleaners, to nursing care to food provision and service, through to management were welcoming, friendly, approachable, attentive and kind.
I was impressed not only by the thoroughness with which my mother was assessed medically but also the communication from the nursing staff to keep myself updated and aware of her medical situation. My only sadness was the limit of activities available - many activities appeared to have been planned but frequently they were cancelled and intellectual stimulation very limited. That aside, should my mother require further respite care in the future, I would not hesitate to approach Woodpeckers again. Thank you.
Thank you for your review and likelihood to recommend the home. Activities at Woodpeckers are always planned in advanced and advertised around the home so that our residents know what to look forward to over the month ahead, however, the Companionship Team will always adapt the program to meet the...
Every member of the staff is kind and friendly, not only to the residents but also to their families.
All Dad's needs are catered for with respect and kindness.
Thank you all.
Very caring and supportive staff, especially during the first few weeks when my mother found the transition into care very disorientating, where she became very confused. Over the last few months, she has settled well and loves all the care, attention and good humour shown by all. She enjoys the atmosphere in the activities and has made many friends. The constant battle with memory loss is dealt with reassurance and constant kindness. A special place.
Warm reception, friendly attention to visitors. Evidence of well-trained staff from procedures in all aspects of care in place. A warm feeling that one is well.
Very well looked after. Everyone is extremely friendly.
They are very professional, alongside a high degree of personal care. It is light and bright with access to the lovely garden, all of which is maintained at a high level.
There is no pressure on residents to join in a very food variety of activities, yet there is still a sense of inclusivity if they choose not to take part. Attention is there if needed but low key when not required. Well done Woodpeckers.
When arriving, after checking who we were and whom we were visiting, a warm and friendly smile and words were directed at us and to who we were visiting. All staff encountered were very friendly and courteous, again with a smile. We clearly observed our friend, who was in a wheelchair, being very well looked after with gentle, caring patience and understanding from the staff. Finally, after visiting various homes, Woodpeckers stood out to be the best!
An excellent care home, especially for short-term care as was mine.
My overall experience of Wookpeckers is excellent. The staff are all very friendly and kind. My Mothe is happy and well cared for and that is a great relief to me.
Although not purpose built the limitations of the build are never a limit to the imagination or effort of the staff, and I mean all the staff whether nursing, maintenance cleaning, reception activities, food and beverage. They show a personal interest in my father and the family and have 100% improved his quality of life.
Staff plentiful and welcoming to visitors - including my dog! Staff respectful and friendly with my friend - unhurried and treat her gently and with dignity. She says the food is excellent. Communication with her daughter and involvement also excellent. (It's hard to comment on'value for money' - it is expensive and I guess has to make a profit, but clearly money spent on good staff and the property).
The care home has a strong emphasis on care, compassion and support. I think this is probably the best possible place for my mother at this time in her life.
Woodpeckers is a truly resident centred care home. The staff are exceptional, professional, friendly and caring. The activities are well thought out and undertaken in an inclusive and thoughtful manner. There is a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness throughout and an impressively thorough and swift response to any queries. They couldn't be more welcoming to residents and visitors alike.
I have been a resident now for over a year and find the staff most helpful and kind, also the administrative staff. The food is excellent - most nutritious. It would be great if it was a little cheaper! The garden is super.
From the first visit, it was obvious that Woodpeckers was run very professionally and there was a happy sense of pride in the home. However, the over-riding feeling was of genuine care for everyone (including us, who were in need of both practically and emotionally help). Although able to do very little for herself, it was clear that my mother in law felt reassured from the minute she arrived.
We visited daily, and found all the staff from cleaners to managers, engaging, friendly and easy to talk to, just as they were with the residents. It was very welcoming and bright (in attitude and physically). It was reassuring to know that my mother in law was being more than 'cared for'. Woodpeckers went out of their way to meet her individual needs which gave us great comfort and reassurance.
Mealtimes were truly social and enjoyable. Those needing help were treated with the greatest respect and there was always a cheerful, sociable atmosphere. Above all the staff looked happy and proud of the residents.
At short notice, we got our mum into Woodpeckers at a very stressful time. The staff could not have done more to help both my mum and extended family who arrived from Scotland, Australia and London with an extensive settling in process. All the staff and care is second to none, in a respectful and peaceful setting. I was assisted with wonderful accommodation, where again I was treated in such a caring way.
It has been a joy at such a difficult time to know mum has such a great place to care for her very considerable needs.
Mum was always treated with such care and dignity by the wonderful team of HCA's (Health Care Assistants) at Woodpeckers. Time spent in the beautiful garden was so special and will be cherished memories of mums time at Woodpeckers. The team became our extended family! A big thank you to everyone involved in caring for our wonderful Mum.
Hygiene is excellent
Good (varied menu) is excellent
Many activities and outings in minibus
Not cheap - but provides complete peace of mind for the family in respect of aged parent
As a retired clergyman I have, for 10 years, visited Woodpeckers each month, officiated at a monthly service and got to know a large number of residents. My wife and I have been impressed by the obvious high standard of care and by the unsolicited, favourable comments made by so many residents.
Friendly staff and appears a well-run care home.
