Originally a private residence, Woodpeckers has been tastefully extended and adapted to provide every modern convenience, while still retaining a homely atmosphere.

Residents enjoy companionship and can join in with singing, music, exercise and arts and crafts sessions. There is the opportunity for gentle gardening activities in the summer sunshine, and there is a busy pen pal scheme.
The home is registered for nursing care and staffed by dedicated nurses and health care professionals with extensive experience in caring for age-related conditions and fully trained in infection control.

The home is situated in the village of Brockenhurst in the heart of the New Forest and is within walking distance of local shops, the church and doctor's surgery.

At Woodpeckers there is a choice of comfortable lounges where residents can socialise, watch television or spend some quiet time, and an attractive conservatory where many activities take place. It overlooks the pretty landscaped garden which has been purposely designed for wheelchair users. The garden also hosts a water feature and oak-framed gazebo suitable for all weathers.

The dining room provides waitress service and varied choices of home-made food. The meals are balanced and nutritious and special diets can be catered for.

The bedrooms are tastefully furnished and most have en-suite facilities for privacy and convenience. Residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms by bringing their own pictures, ornaments and small pieces of furniture.

Woodpeckers has a wonderful, friendly, caring, warm yet still very professional atmosphere wholly as a result of the superb quality of their staff.
Although not purpose built the limitations of the build are never a limit to the imagination or effort of the staff, and I mean all the staff whether nursing,
maintenance cleaning, reception activities, food and beverage. They show a personal interest in my father and the family and have 100% improved his quality of life.

Staff plentiful and welcoming to visitors - including my dog! Staff respectful and friendly with my friend - unhurried and treat her gently and with dignity. She says the food is excellent. Communication with her daughter and involvement also excellent. (It's hard to comment on'value for money' - it
is expensive and I guess has to make a profit, but clearly money spent on good staff and the property).

Woodpeckers is a truly resident centred care home. The staff are exceptional, professional, friendly and caring. The activities are well thought out and undertaken in an inclusive and thoughtful manner. There is a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness throughout and an impressively thorough and swift

I have been a resident now for over a year and find the staff most helpful and kind, also the administrative staff. The food is excellent - most nutritious. It would be great if it was a little cheaper! The garden is super.

From the first visit, it was obvious that Woodpeckers was run very professionally and there was a happy sense of pride in the home. However, the over-riding feeling was of genuine care for everyone (including us, who were in need of both practically and emotionally help). Although able to do very little
for herself, it was clear that my mother in law felt reassured from the minute she arrived.


We visited daily, and found all the staff from cleaners to managers, engaging, friendly and easy to talk to, just as they were with the residents. It was very welcoming and bright (in attitude and physically). It was reassuring to know that my mother in law was being more than 'cared for'. Woodpeckers went out of their way to meet her individual needs which gave us great comfort and reassurance.


Mealtimes were truly social and enjoyable. Those needing help were treated with the greatest respect and there was always a cheerful, sociable atmosphere. Above all the staff looked happy and proud of the residents.

At short notice, we got our mum into Woodpeckers at a very stressful time. The staff could not have done more to help both my mum and extended family who arrived from Scotland, Australia and London with an extensive settling in process. All the staff and care is second to none, in a respectful and peaceful
setting. I was assisted with wonderful accommodation, where again I was treated in such a caring way.


It has been a joy at such a difficult time to know mum has such a great place to care for her very considerable needs.

Mum was always treated with such care and dignity by the wonderful team of HCA's (Health Care Assistants) at Woodpeckers. Time spent in the beautiful garden was so special and will be cherished memories of mums time at Woodpeckers. The team became our extended family! A big thank you to everyone involved

As a retired clergyman I have, for 10 years, visited Woodpeckers each month, officiated at a monthly service and got to know a large number of residents. My wife and I have been impressed by the obvious high standard of care and by the unsolicited, favourable comments made by so many residents.

I had no wish to leave home, but I realised my infirmities of age were making life too tiring for my wife.
This is an extremely well-organised place.
The members of staff are totally competent but also very kind and considerate.

On the half dozen or so occasions I have visited my friend in Woodpeckers, I have experienced the care house as being well-appointed. Very pleasantly furnished and maintained to a high standard. The residents are treated with respect and are clearly well looked after by the staff. There is a cheerful
atmosphere and a feeling that staff do their best to make the home a pleasant place for residents and visitors. I have not had a meal at Woodpeckers so could not comment on the food. Whilst activities are organised daily, it must be/is a challenge to provide stimulus for residents with very different meals.

My own personal experience has been wonderful. I have felt very welcomed by the care team and feel that my father has been very well cared for and made very comfortable. The visitors are welcome to tea/coffee and cake and encouraged to have meals with their family. I very much hope that I receive my
