I have never been in a place like this before, and I was worried how I would settle in. I was worried about how I would cope with a lot of people, but have managed very well because they are so nice and have helped me. They are all nice people, young and old. I am happy here.

Realising your loved one can no longer live independently in their own home is a harsh reality and so many emotions are laid bare for all. There are anxieties and questions, doubts and tears. So, to be welcomed into Kingfishers, filled with positivity and friendly faces, staff who are never too busy
to listen, and who treat you and your love one with kindness and respect, has been honestly just such a relief. Mum has a beautifully light appointed room, which is always spotlessly clean, and a list of relatable activities should she wish to leave the comfort of it. Family who have visited have nothing but praise either. Thank you!

My mother spent the last three years of her life at Court Lodge, and I am deeply grateful for the kindness and care she received there. Over time we got to know so many of the staff, and it was clear how much affection they had for her. The companionship team, carers, nurses and all the staff - including
cleaners, catering, admin, management and reception - treated her with warmth, dignity and patience.
As a family, we always felt she was safe, comfortable and truly cared for. The compassion shown in her final days meant more to us than we can say. We will always be thankful for the comfort and support they provided.

I was made very welcome from day one. Good assistance from all staff. Room and bathing areas always kept spotless plus all other areas. Excellent activities with good mixture of talks from visiting speakers, entertainment and keep fit activities, and meaningful films. Would have liked more involvement
into visiting ministers fro churches and printed responses for Sunday morning streamed service. Excellent choice of food and drinks. No problem with extending stay for further three weeks. A very relaxing, rewarding and beneficial stay.

Mum was in the care home for nearly 4 years. Throughout that time, from bringing Mum in, the paperwork, the love and care, attention to detail, the regular check-ins, the monthly updates, the health monitoring, the visiting at a time that suited us... all was handled with compassion and empathy. Vanda
Baker is the Manager and the staff are brilliant under her guidance. The facilities are excellent and it really is the staff that make this place. Activities are many and varied with regular supervised trips out. The magazine is brilliant and they make a point of featuring everyone during the year to give the families and friends something to look out for. They really do care. This is the sort of place you wish for to give your loved ones a beautiful place to have their final years. It's not the cheapest place and it is great value for money based on the care taken. I would recommend this Care home to anyone.

Abbey View Nursing & Residential Home

from D N (Son of Resident) published on 19 January 2026

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mother was a resident at Abbeyview from January 2024 until January 2026. She moved into the home a year after our father died. Mum and Dad had been married for 60 years.
Mum was very anxious about moving into Abbeyview. She had the early onset of dementia and her mobility was limited. However, the
team at Abbeyview made her very welcome, helped her make friends and took great care of her as her dementia progressed. This excellent level of care was maintained right up to Mum's passing.
Reply from Elena Barna, Home Manager at Abbey View Nursing & Residential HomeThank you for sharing this lovely feedback. We're honoured to have supported your mum from the time she joined Abbey View and to know you feel she was cared for with such kindness and reassurance throughout her journey with us.

Fernhill is a wonderful care home. The staff are so caring and helpful, not only to my wife but to me as well. There is always a friendly welcome, and I often enjoy a cup of tea with the staff.
My wife's room is always beautifully kept by the housekeeping team, who are happy to have a chat whilst working.

The Aldbury

I cannot fault the love & care my Dad received from all the staff at Aldbury. He was only with them for a short while before he passed, but he was greeted with such warmth & love, as if he had been there for years. Everyone at the home is so welcoming, they fill the home with joy and nothing
is too much trouble. The residents are so well cared for & there is always something going on to entertain. In the last few days of my dads life both myself & my brother stayed by Dad's side, we were so well looked after, the staff were so kind & caring, we couldn't have wished for a lovelier team to help us in those difficult hours. They truly are angels.
Reply from Martin Corrigan, Home Manager at The AldburyThank you for sharing such a moving reflection, and please accept our sincere condolences. We're honoured to have cared for your dad, even for a short time, and to know you feel he - and your family - were supported with such kindness and warmth.
