My mother came to Bourne View for respite care after 3 months of being in hospital with chest infections. From the moment I contacted Bourne View they listened to the situation I was at with my mother and helped me to see a way forward. All the staff have been wonderful, helpful and nothing too much
trouble. My mother has now fully recovered and is stronger and mobile, she is like a changed person. I can not convey how this stay at Bourne View has saved her life and given her the independence back that she craves.
Reply from Stuart King, Home Manager at Bourne ViewThank you for your kind feedback about Bourne View. We're so pleased to hear your mother has made such a strong recovery and that the team's support from the outset helped you both feel guided and reassured. It's wonderful to know her stay has had such a positive impact on her health, independence and wellbeing.

My Dad has been a resident at Abbotts Barton for two years now and felt right at home from the beginning. He struggled at home to come to terms with his advanced care needs and straight away the team were professional, warm, caring and reassuring and he has settled in so well. He has a lovely group
of friends he meets for activities, minibus trips, chess, dinner and drinks. He also values the relationships he as grown with all the staff, the care staff and companion team in particular. They have all taken the time to get to know him well and I know he has so much respect for the amazing work they do. The nursing team and care staff understand his care needs brilliantly and when he has been poorly, they have noticed straight away which is reassuring for my family and I that he is in the best hands. Having a nursing team in house has been invaluable. He wouldn't be anywhere else. What an amazing home!
Reply from Dee Lovewell, Home Manager at Abbotts BartonThank you for your kind feedback about Abbotts Barton. We're so pleased to hear your dad felt at home from the very beginning, and that the team's professionalism, warmth and understanding have helped him settle so well.

My mother is very happy and exceptionally well looked after in this lovely home. It is friendly, clean, caring and mum has made new friends with common interests. She feels she is part of a community again, a feeling she thought she had lost as her mobility in her own home declined. Abbey View has restored
her confidence and given her joy in her life again, if not quite literally a spring in her step. With good food, new friends and great care, it has been wonderful to see mum's mental health and physical health improve. Thank you, Abbey View

Mum has 2 days a week Day Care but we required a short respite stay, in order to give us both a break. Everyone at Fernhill were so helpful in organising the stay and keeping me informed on how it was going. Mum was relaxed about the change in routine because the people and environment was already familiar,
and they already knew her and how to get the best from her.
Her room was beautiful and we were able to place personal items to make it feel like home. The staff are excellent and so supportive and positive which keeps the mood up for everyone. Mum has always loved her food and the staff were able to quickly assess and strike the balance of giving her what she liked but making sure she didn't over indulge.
As will often happen Mum "lost" items of clothing and footwear, the staff were really helpful in locating the missing items quickly, and not making it seem like I was being unreasonable in wanting her belongings back.
Reply from Lorraine Bell, Home Manager at FernhillThank you for your kind feedback about Fernhill. We're so pleased to hear your mum's respite stay was so well supported, and that the team's understanding, organisation and attentive approach helped her feel relaxed, comfortable and at home.

Mum has been living in Abbey View for 2 1/2 year ages 95 years. Most recently, breast cancer was caught in the early stage by a very diligent nurse at the home. The loss of mum's walking mobility means she has to rely on excellent nursing staff for personal needs. We find the staff very welcoming, kind
and helpful. Food is delicious thanks to an excellent chef. WE note staff working very hard and provide high standard of service. Staff are happy to listen and help at all times, finding a more comfy chair for mum. Good nursing support for mum going to hospital appointments. We feel greatly reassured that mum is well looked after with vital support, which gives peace mind. We thank you for all you do.

We have found management very reactive to any requests or ideas we have had, and suggestions have been promptly discussed or reacted to. As family members, care has been needed to us as well as our loved ones. We are always welcome. Our loved one is always known to carers and staff, and he reacts well
to them. As a wife, I always feel welcome, and I hugely appreciate the kindness and friendliness shown to us both.

My relative came into the home for respite care following a fall and stay in hospital. From the initial home visit to the send off on the last day, she received wonderful care and attention. All the staff, from care to kitchen, hair and nails, to the cleaners, everyone has made her feel cared for, and
it was all we could have wanted while she recovered. She is now settled at home, all the better for the rest she has had and the great experience she had.

I visited lots of care homes in order to find the best care for my wife, who suffers from early-onset Alzheimer's. Fernhill was the best I could find. The care that she has been given is exceptional and changes as her needs change. The staff are genuinely caring and know how to deal with any situations
that may arise. Her medical needs are well catered for, and medication is controlled and given on time. The home can be relied on to contact her GP if there are any issues and keep me well informed. The food is good, varied and plentiful—the staff deal with everyone as an individual. I would not hesitate to recommend Fernhill to anyone looking for care for their loved ones.
