When I first arrived I was impressed by the ambience of the reception area which is light, airy and pleasantly furnished with modern furniture. All the staff are, without exception, very friendly and ready with a smile to help with any problem. All rooms are cleaned and tidied daily and clean linen supplied regularly. Food is well prepared, there is a different menu every day. These are varied and designed to meet all tastes

Activities are arranged on a daily basis plus occasional outings to places of interest, on a personal point I am very comfortable and happy here and would recommend Braemar Lodge to anyone seeking a retirement home.

I have enjoyed my 2 weeks respite very much. I have felt very relaxed and enjoyed my beautiful west facing room and evening sun (when it was sunny!) Everyone here has been kind nad caring. I have thoroughly enjoyed all the activities including 2 trips out.

I came to find out how I would get on in care and now I know I would be happy to return if my situation changes and I can no longer cope at home. I would recommend Braemar Lodge to anyone.

My mother was due to move to Braemar on Monday 27th November. It was all very difficult at home. I rang Braemar, they had previously said to ring if needed. They jumped into action at their inconvenience & brought forward Ma's move to 9th October. They moved heaven & earth to make it happen. Ma was the first resident in the restored hall of the home. They even moved other residents to keep Ma company. Everyone was kind & welcoming. Thank you all so much.

My father celebrated his 100th birthday last month at Braemar Lodge. As well as hosting a party for our large family they coordinated visits from several Naval officers which made his weekend truly special. Nothing was too much trouble _ food, help from the companionship team and the manager was exemplary.

My father has been at Braemar Lodge for 2 years and we cannot fault them even through the challenges of the new build.

Reply from Jackie Cash, Home Manager at Braemar Lodge

Everytime I go to see my brother, which is several times a week, I'm impressed by the warm welcome I get from reception of all the staff. They all seem to have a sense of humour, are caring and kind. Very happy with The Summer Fete the other day. A wonderful atmosphere and residents & staff seem to be having so much fun. A tribute to al the effort and imagination that had gone into organising such an event.

I feel confident my brother is being well looked after and is happy.

My mother has been at Braemar Lodge for over 2 and a half years now and I remain so happy with her care, as well as impressed with the whole team, where - whatever their role - everyone feels committed, caring and involved. The recent move to the new wing was managed with thought, grace, empathy and such patience and good humour - with no indication of the awkwardness and difficulty that staff themselves have experienced as they too adjusted. A very special place, and I recommend it.

As a wife of a patient, I found the care home extremely friendly, always cheerful, helpful and caring. I trusted them completely to look after my husband, who had broken his ankle and was in a cast. I could visit whenever I chose, also friends. Staff were always there and helpful. Excellent chef. It was a two week stay. Happy to recommend the care home where my husband stayed to any of my friends.
