I cannot fault the love & care my Dad received from all the staff at Aldbury. He was only with them for a short while before he passed, but he was greeted with such warmth & love, as if he had been there for years. Everyone at the home is so welcoming, they fill the home with joy and nothing
is too much trouble. The residents are so well cared for & there is always something going on to entertain. In the last few days of my dads life both myself & my brother stayed by Dad's side, we were so well looked after, the staff were so kind & caring, we couldn't have wished for a lovelier team to help us in those difficult hours. They truly are angels.
Reply from Martin Corrigan, Home Manager at The AldburyThank you for sharing such a moving reflection, and please accept our sincere condolences. We're honoured to have cared for your dad, even for a short time, and to know you feel he - and your family - were supported with such kindness and warmth.

Mum spent 3 happy years at this wonderful care home. She was treated with constant kindness, patience, and affection by all the staff and carers and nurses. This is a place that communicates well between staff, carers, nurses, relatives and the resident. It was Mum's home, and the people around her,
her family, who gave her the greatest reassurance that she was seen, heard and included in daily activities and choices. Her end of life care was exemplary and I felt especially looked after as well, at this time. I could not have asked for anything more for my Mum at The Aldbury during her time there, she was happy, safe, calm and at home. Thank you to all at The Aldbury.
Reply from Martin Corrigan, Home Manager at The AldburyThank you for sharing such a heartfelt tribute. We're sorry for your loss and truly honoured to have been part of your mum's life during her time at The Aldbury. It means a great deal to know she felt at home, supported, and included, and that you felt cared for too during such an important time.

I am absolutely bowled over by the wonderful care my mother received during the years she lived at The Aldbury. Everyone was kind, patient and cheerful and I always felt she was in good hands, particularly in the last few weeks of her life when she was so beautifully cared for. She always smelled clean,
fresh and fragrant, with beautiful hair. I thought about her with great happiness, knowing she was being minded so beautifully. Money can't buy the love and affection she was given, and I thank you all so much for loving and caring for her.

We chose The Aldbury because we felt it was the most suited to my husband's needs, and we were not disappointed! In every respect we have been satisfied with every level of care, realising what a complete change it is for the patient to leave the familiarity of home to be cared for by others. The level
of care, relaxed, happy atmosphere; personal touch; consideration towards family - not to mention the cleanliness, good food etc is exemplary. Well done everyone who contribute to such an excellent care home.

My husband stayed at The Aldbury Care Home for two weeks respite care in December 2024. He was very happy and safe, and found the staff and standard of care very much to his satisfaction. The layout of the building is very user-friendly, in that residents walk in a circle around a large common room,
where daily activities are held and music recitals take place. The home has a very welcoming aspect, with plenty of natural light coming in, especially into the common room. The staff are conscientious and dedicated. I am so pleased to have found The Aldbury and wish all its staff and residents well for the future. I would not hesitate to send my husband there again.

We have been very happy with all the care our relative has received (2 years). He was happy and settled well. All the care and activities were excellent and consistent with all staff. For his last days, he was given kindness and compassion and had expert care. We were supported well. This has all meant
a lot to us whilst we were not living locally. We felt that all the homes' staff, including management, reception and domestic worked hard as a team with good communication all around. This made it a home that was happy and inviting. The staff worked enthusiastically for the residents. The garden was amazing.
Reply from Martin Corrigan, Home Manager at The AldburyThank you so much for your kind words. It really means a lot to us to know that your relative felt happy and settled here, and that you felt supported, especially from a distance. We're glad our team could make things that bit easier during a difficult time, and it's lovely to hear that the garden and atmosphere left such a positive impression. The Aldbury is the best care home I've ever gone to and the one my mum liked the best on viewing, this made it very easy to choose this home as the best place for mum to move to. Mum has mild/moderate dementia and the staff have gone above and beyond to make her feel welcome. I cannot fault a single
thing about the home. Every single member of staff is exceptional no matter who they are from managers to carers, reception staff, activity staff, nurses, cleaners etc, every single one is always kind, helpful, caring and cheerful. I absolutely love visiting mum and she is really well settled. The food is excellent, there's regular tea and cake as well as the meals, a little café and really lovely gardens. I would not hesitate to recommend the home to anyone who has the need for a care home, it is exceptional!

I am writing this review following the recent passing of my father who spent time at The Aldbury Care Home for in excess of two years, firstly as a daily visitor and more recently as a full time resident.
From the first day my father spent at the home, the staff were incredibly attentive and respectful.
They worked with him on a personal level, always ensuring his needs were met.
The home is well-maintained and provides a comfortable living environment. The rooms were clean, and the common areas were welcoming. The overall atmosphere felt like a place where my father could feel safe and cared for.
My father's medical needs were met with thorough attention, and any concerns we had were addressed promptly. The staff also took care to ensure he was emotionally supported, with activities and companionship that helped him stay engaged. He particularly enjoyed his day trip to the Beaulieu Motor Museum.

My sister and I spent many months looking for a home for our father who has dementia. In total, we looked at 10 homes. The Aldbury was the second home we visited and we were always drawn back there. Our father has been there for almost four months and we are beyond satisfied with his care. It feels
like our second home as everyone from the fantastic team to the manager welcomes us so warmly and Dad is superbly looked after.

Although the stay was just 3 months, the care and attention provided to my wife was excellent. The staff were always attentive both to my wife and all visitors. All visitors have made comments to me to the effect that The Aldbury was a lovely welcoming home.
Contact with me was good at all times and
the manager and head nurse deal spent a good deal of time with me in discussions over several issues.
Thoroughly recommend The Aldbury.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.882)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.882) out of 10 for The Aldbury is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.882 for The Aldbury is calculated as follows: ( (311 Excellents x 5) + (29 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 346 Ratings = 4.882
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Aldbury is based on 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 55 registered maximum number of service users is 11, which has been reached with 29 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
