Abbey View Nursing & Residential Home

I found the care mum received was respectful and friendly. It was a very big change when mum went into residential care at 94 years, but the staff encouraged her gently to integrate with home life.
Family were always made to feel welcome and kept updated with her health and well being.
In her final
few weeks she was treated with respect and dignity

Fernhill

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Fernhill is a lovely, caring home, that welcomed my husband with open arms. He wasn't the easiest person to deal with at first, agitated and resisting help in every aspect of daily life. But with the care, attention, respect and patience of the staff, he is now calmer, settled and content. Every resident
is treated as an individual, and their specific needs are attended to with love and care. The management are great, dealing with any help or advice my family and I request, and keeping us updated on his care or any issues. I could not wish for a better home for my husband and would not hesitate in recommending them.
Reply from Lorraine Bell, Home Manager at FernhillThank you for your kind feedback. We're pleased you are so happy with the care your husband receives at Fernhill, and we appreciate your kind words about the team's patience, understanding and ongoing support for both him and your family.

My sister entered Abbey View Care Home due to a debilitating disease which prevented her from remaining in her own home.
She would have preferred to continue living in her own home but realising that it would be dangerous for her she made the decision to enter Abbey View.
She was happy at Abbey View
and was cared for exceptionally well until her final passing due to her deterioration from the disease that she had.

I would like to thank the staff of Canford Chase for the care and love they have given my 2 friends. One had a massive stroke and not expected to survive, the care she received enabled her to live her last 12 months in comfort. Newstone House has given my mother such tender care. The staff are incredibly warm and caring, and that's been so important to help my mum transition to being in a home. She has been so reassured by the friendliness and warmth she's received most importantly her agency has been respected, which has

This is my 3rd short visit to Canford Chase (2 in 2025) to recover from surgery for 2-4 weeks each time. Each time I've felt most welcomed by staff, and on my 2nd & 3rd visit by residents who remember me from previous visits. If ever I need to I wouldn't hesitate to come back here for care & would recommend
to friends needing a care home. The carers and nurses are always very helpful and queries & problems are always answered promptly. The meals are nutritious & tasty & served hot with a good variety & staff are always willing to serve my supper in my room for my convenience. All in all, I find this an excellent care home.

Whitecliffe House

from Justin J (Son of Resident) published on 22 May 2026
Submitted via Postal Card • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mother was 6 months at Whitecliffe House before she died aged 100 years. She was at first a reluctant resident, as she had always been remarkably independent. Through the steadfast care and attention of the staff, coupled with the care home's doctrine of freedom of expression and movement, my mother
settled in and soon became comfortable. As her needs progressively changed, the care was subtly and thoughtfully modified. The staff worked highly effectively as a team, deploying their many specialist skills to deliver all aspects of her care, including dietary, medical, mobility, sanitary, companionship and administrative needs. In addition, the Care Home was unwavering in their support and advice to our family. In our efforts to support our mother, they were diligent in allowing us fully flexible access. They kept us informed about relevant legal, logistic, financial and other administrative matters. They included us in organised collective activities and helped mum prepare for us to take her out on short excursions whilst she was still able. The care home is a very bright, spotlessly clean, well organized, secure and welcoming place. It inculcates a sense of wellbeing and belonging, enabling residents and visitors the confidence to enjoy friendly company or privacy to suit themselves. I would highly recommend Whitecliffe House to anyone looking for a friendly, homely, safe place to live and be cared for.
Reply from Emma Williams, Home Manager at Whitecliffe HouseThank you for your kind feedback. Right from my initial introduction to Whitecliffe House, I sensed this care home was right for my mother to be in at the end of her life. The home manager and all the team were kind, dedicated and professional in looking after mother. They attended to her numerous needs with integrity and dedication,
always focused on what was best for Mum. As a result, instead of being a forlorn individual isolated in her own existence, she was living with as much vitality as she could muster, absolutely determined to make the best of everything around her. No one could expect, seek or receive better care anywhere than Mum experienced in Whitecliffe.

My mother has been a resident at Castle View for 2 1/2 years - from the moment she arrived, she has been treated with great sensitivity & respect by all the members of the Castle View team. Everyone seems to understand my mothers requirements, and takes considerable trouble to ensure her views and ideas
are both heard and acted upon. She regularly tells me how settled and comfortable she feels in her new home - and indeed I can see from her contented demeanour that this is the case. I love seeing my mum looking calm, happy & well cared for when I visit! Thank you for working together to provide a happy, calm community. We feel fortunate that Castle View is part of our family community.
