My Dad has been a resident at Abbotts Barton for two years now and felt right at home from the beginning. He struggled at home to come to terms with his advanced care needs and straight away the team were professional, warm, caring and reassuring and he has settled in so well. He has a lovely group
of friends he meets for activities, minibus trips, chess, dinner and drinks. He also values the relationships he as grown with all the staff, the care staff and companion team in particular. They have all taken the time to get to know him well and I know he has so much respect for the amazing work they do. The nursing team and care staff understand his care needs brilliantly and when he has been poorly, they have noticed straight away which is reassuring for my family and I that he is in the best hands. Having a nursing team in house has been invaluable. He wouldn't be anywhere else. What an amazing home!

My auntie has been a resident for 3 year's now, I visit once a week and take her out. She is allways clean and tidy. The staff are all brilliant from top to bottom. My mother has been a resident here since 2023 and has been so happy and content every day.
The care that she has every day is 100% and always given with so much love and attention.
Mum feels like it is one big happy family.
Mum has been poorly recently and I cannot fault the wonderful nursing care
she has been given.
It helps me too, allowing me to be her daughter and not her carer. Priceless.
Thank you to the whole team here @ Abbotts Barton.

St Catherines View

from J B (Daughter of Resident) published on 31 March 2026

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
It's almost a year since Mum became a resident at St Catherine's View, following a failed placement at another care home who decided they couldn't manage her needs after 2 days. At the time Mum's needs were challenging but St Catherine's looked after her and managed all the difficulties with skill,
care, patience. understanding and empathy. Over time with the excellent support and effort from the staff at St Catherine's she has settled and this week we reached a milestone in one aspect of her care. It has been a big relief for the family to have found such a lovely place for Mum to live where we can feel confident she is well looked after, safe and loved. As a dedicated dementia home the understanding of this challenging illness shines through all the staff and there are so many thoughtful, well informed decisions made throughout the home, covering every aspect of the running of St Catherine's. I would wholeheartedly recommend St Catherine's to others.
Reply from Vanda Baker, Home Manager at St Catherines ViewThank you for your heartfelt feedback. We're so pleased to hear that over the past year St Catherines View has provided the skill, care and understanding your mum needed, helping her settle and reach important milestones, and that the team's thoughtful, informed approach gives your family such reassurance.

I am so pleased that my mother is resident at Court Lodge. I moved her from another care home (not a Colten one) and the difference is amazing - Ma is happy and so am I, and it is a pleasure to visit her and see her smiling.
This is down to a variety of reasons, topmost of which has to be the superb
care and attention to detail from the whole team - an amazing group of people who have always had a smile and are happy to talk and listen.
The whole ambience is so unlike other homes - it is friendly , cosy, spotlessly clean... in no way institutional. And the food is amazing! I would strongly urge anyone contemplating choosing a home fo themselves or a loved one to visit and see it for yourselves!

I cannot recommend Linden House highly enough! Not only is it a wonderful space, but the people are skilled, caring and so, so kind. The book on Reception states 'we live by our values' and having visited at all times of the day, they truly do. The professionalism and compassion is evident across all
teams of staff as is the consistent, calm and positive ethos set by the leadership team. For me, it feels as if my Dad is not in a home, but at home!

My wife has now been a resident at St Catherine's for about 4 months having moved them from another home in Winchester. The difference in the level of care is so very obvious. Everything about St Catherine's is better. They got to know my wife's needs very quickly and addressed each one with skill and
professionalism that impressed me. She is happier, cleaner, medically better and seems to be amongst a new family. We feel she is now the best she can be given her illness.

It was very traumatic when the time came for my wife to go into a care home but choosing St Catherine's View was an excellent decision. The staff are brilliant. They are all so caring and friendly whatever their role and it is apparent as soon as you enter reception. The home is very well presented
throughout with an up-market feel and it is all kept very clean and tidy. There is a good range of activities every day and efforts are made to tailor these for individual wishes. The home is a pleasant place for visitors. There are plenty of private areas and cafes and two very attractive gardens that are well maintained. I particularly appreciate how dog-friendly it is so our dog is not left out on visiting. My wife greatly enjoys the on-site hairdressing salon which she regularly uses. Overall it gives me great comfort that my wife is safe and secure at St Catherine's View and is in good hands.

My Mum has been resident at Court Lodge for nearly a year. I now have peace of mind that she is safe, healthy and is being well cared for. I live very close to the home so can pop in whenever I like. What really strikes you when you walk in, is how friendly all the staff are. From walking in the
front door to reaching my mums room on the 1st floor, I receive so many warm greetings. It's a very relaxed, homely atmosphere. I'm always offered a cup of tea and if I'm lucky a glass of Prosecco on occasions! From what I witness, the care is very good. The staff are polite and residents are treated with great dignity. One of the outstanding areas is having a team of staff dedicated to providing activities for the residents. My Mum chooses not to join in with much in the home, but staff try to encourage her or they take activities to her room. They even lay on weekly outings. Thank you to all staff for all you do. It's very hard work but you always do it with a smile
