St Catherines View

It is clear that Mum is very content at St Catherine's and certainly well looked after, always in clean clothes and well presented. The staff are attentive and friendly, they all know everyone by name! We have enjoyed being able to take Mum into the beautiful gardens during the long summer, she loved her garden at home. I would certainly recommend St Catherines View.

The team in St Catherine's have been very patient and kind helping my mum settle into residency. It was always going to be a tough transition - they demonstrated their experience in working through her understandable initial anxiety - their steadfast supportive structuring of the days, their care and consistency has made all the difference. I am most grateful and I am now looking forward to seeing mum settle down into the regular beat of day to day life in "the View"

The care home staff looked after my father wonderfully. He was treated with respect and dignity and the care he was given was second to none. The interior and exterior of the home are both very attractive - a lovely garden. Spotlessly clean. The staff provided excellent care for my husband and exceptional care when he was dying. He was surrounded by love both from family and carers. He had constant attention and pain relief. He had a comfortable adjustable bed. The environment was so soothing with soft music, calm video footage, a view of the garden, even an essential oil diffuser. The family stayed with him the whole day and provided with support, care, and meals. During his stay, his cat was a welcome visitor!

Residents are clearly known and valued as individuals, treated with dignity and respect. I would happily and confidently entrust one of my own relatives to St Catherine's View.

There are a great variety of activities ranging from outings, craft, gardening and music to name a few. The activities my aunt has joined in with she has really enjoyed.

It's almost a year since Mum became a resident at St Catherine's View, following a failed placement at another care home who decided they couldn't manage her needs after 2 days. At the time Mum's needs were challenging but St Catherine's looked after her and managed all the difficulties with skill, care, patience. understanding and empathy. Over time with the excellent support and effort from the staff at St Catherine's she has settled and this week we reached a milestone in one aspect of her care. It has been a big relief for the family to have found such a lovely place for Mum to live where we can feel confident she is well looked after, safe and loved. As a dedicated dementia home the understanding of this challenging illness shines through all the staff and there are so many thoughtful, well informed decisions made throughout the home, covering every aspect of the running of St Catherine's. I would wholeheartedly recommend St Catherine's to others.

My wife has now been a resident at St Catherine's for about 4 months having moved them from another home in Winchester. The difference in the level of care is so very obvious. Everything about St Catherine's is better. They got to know my wife's needs very quickly and addressed each one with skill and professionalism that impressed me. She is happier, cleaner, medically better and seems to be amongst a new family. We feel she is now the best she can be given her illness.

It was very traumatic when the time came for my wife to go into a care home but choosing St Catherine's View was an excellent decision. The staff are brilliant. They are all so caring and friendly whatever their role and it is apparent as soon as you enter reception. The home is very well presented throughout with an up-market feel and it is all kept very clean and tidy. There is a good range of activities every day and efforts are made to tailor these for individual wishes. The home is a pleasant place for visitors. There are plenty of private areas and cafes and two very attractive gardens that are well maintained. I particularly appreciate how dog-friendly it is so our dog is not left out on visiting. My wife greatly enjoys the on-site hairdressing salon which she regularly uses. Overall it gives me great comfort that my wife is safe and secure at St Catherine's View and is in good hands.

The whole operation is first class. I would recommend St Catherines Vew to anyone.

Mum has been a resident for over 2 years. It was so important to us that she was in a place that would take the time and have the right staff to really care and provide for her specialist dementia needs. The staff know and understand what she does and doesn't like, and as her dementia progresses are adapting to her changing needs. All the staff are friendly and professional. The whole team work together and do a fantastic job with caring for and entertaining the residents. We have regular updates and reviews of how she is doing, as well as discuss any changes needed to Mum's care with the senior nurses. While it is quite expensive you really get what you pay for, great value for money for the level of care taken. We feel that she is very content there and well looked after. It is purpose built with beautiful gardens providing a friendly and safe environment. We have been really pleased with our choice of care home for Mum and would certainly recommend St Catherine's View.

Mum was in the care home for nearly 4 years. Throughout that time, from bringing Mum in, the paperwork, the love and care, attention to detail, the regular check-ins, the monthly updates, the health monitoring, the visiting at a time that suited us... all was handled with compassion and empathy. Vanda Baker is the Manager and the staff are brilliant under her guidance. The facilities are excellent and it really is the staff that make this place. Activities are many and varied with regular supervised trips out. The magazine is brilliant and they make a point of featuring everyone during the year to give the families and friends something to look out for. They really do care. This is the sort of place you wish for to give your loved ones a beautiful place to have their final years. It's not the cheapest place and it is great value for money based on the care taken. I would recommend this Care home to anyone.

I cannot fault the care that my mother has received on her dementia journey over the 8 1/2 years that she has been in Colten Care Homes. I am so glad that she came to Winchester to live near us, and enjoyed the social life at St Cats. The energy, dedication and patience shown by all the staff without exception is remarkable, and now as she ends her dementia journey I have a sense of calm and peace descending over her and us. Thank you everyone for all you have done and continue to do for those with dementia.

Have nothing but praise for the team at St Catherine's View. Mum was admitted in January 2025 due to her advanced dementia. We looked after mum at home until we could no longer cope with her challenging behaviour but the team there do a fantastic job and mum seems quite settled.

She does not join in any activities so I am unable to comment on them.

The decision to move dad into a care home to support his late stage dementia was a difficult one, the choice of home however is something we have never regretted. It was important to us for dad to be in a specialist dementia facility where his condition and needs would be understood.

We are so grateful to all the staff at St Catherines View and the exceptional care dad received there. Visiting dad often we could see how well dad was supported and cared for. The nursing and care staff were excellent, extending that kindness to us too.

My friend has been with you since January 2025. Since being here in St Catherines, she has settled so well lots of extra care and support with her specialist needs. The teams have all been wonderful I could name so many however they are all so caring and patient with my friend. The staff member who manages to get her showered regularly has been brilliant, my friend responds to her. The activities coordinator gets her engaged with activities. Well done everyone!

The success of any home is most influenced by the style set by its leader. St Catherines View has a staff team from any backgrounds but without exception follow the standards set by the home manager. My wife has been a resident for over 2 years and despite the limitations of her dementia, she has often expressed her happiness & contentment with St Catherines. This is a great comfort to me, as her husband. Recently, the companionship leader arranged for her to go sailing which she loved, having sailed with me and her friends over the years.

Sadly, his time at St Catherine's was shorter than we had hoped, but during his stay we felt that he was in safe and sympathetic hands and all the staff could not have been more helpful.

My elderly father fell and broke his hip in September and had a spell in hospital. Upon going home, it was clear that he was not going to manage and my brother and I were going abroad simultaneously. The decision was made to move dad into care and St Catherines was incredibly quick to assist with dad's assessment being completed within 48 hours and his seamless move into his room 48 hours after that. The care and kindness that everyone at St Catherines View showed not just my dad but all of us at a very difficult time was outstanding. The level of care he received was exceptional and we always felt very comfortable that he was being well looked after. I will always be incredibly grateful for everything the team at St Catherines View did for my dad while he was there, you are all wonderful!
