View Full Details of Alexandra Nursing HomeThe support, care and treatment for my father was exceptional. All staff are dedicated professionals who wanted what was best for Dad. They are all very caring, from housekeeping, kitchen, HCA, medical staff and management and I cannot thank them enough for their support and passion. Rarely do you find such loving beautiful staff that gave excellent care from dietary needs to medical needs. What a team of people who treated my dad with dignity, gave him hope and also supported myself.
This review is continual not just for one month. The staff work really hard all the time under very difficult and challenging circumstances. They are attentive with the residents and informative with the relatives. A special mention to one of the staff in particular because she has a good balance of professionalism but is quite intuitive and very caring, having a sixth sense when relatives are upset or concerned and always keeps me informed/updated. She always allays my fears and if I raise any concerns such as my dad not leaving his room, I know for a fact that her and the staff have made a concerted effort and managed to get him to come out of his room occasionally. I ask my dad how he feels and I notice he is not as anxious as he used to be and quite settled. He has always been a gentle sole and it is so nice to see him having got used to his surroundings, even though he still thinks my mum is downstairs and that he is in his own bedroom which is ok.
My Mum was a resident in the main house she had Dementia. After a bit of a shaky start which wasn't altogether the homes fault it was a lack of communication from the hospital. The care and nursing she received was brilliant, the activities with the patients the painting, singers activities for Easter Christmas etc brilliant. The most important the end of life care was excellent, everything was explained what would happen after my mum had passed everything, the night mum passed the staff where brilliant with us could not have asked for anything more. I would like to thank the staff for the way they have treated my Dad since mum passed they have been brilliant with him. If you ask me what could be improved I would say the rooms could be decorated mums room wasn't great at all paint peeling of the wall, and I would like to see better bedding on the beds. Having said that the most important things care, nursing, cleanliness excellent.
The team at Alexandra have provided excellent care for my dad since he was admitted in January. They have supported my dad in making this transition dignified and as smooth as possible. Highly recommended.
The care and attention given to my father by staff at the Brooklands Unit has been exceptional. They have dealt with his complex needs with care and compassion, going above and beyond to ensure that he is safe and happy. The quality of the catering has surpassed my expectations and my dad really enjoys the food. The staff have been great at communicating with myself and my family, supporting us in these challenging times.
We had to make a hard decision to move dad from his residential care home due to financial issues. The Alexandra was recommended to us and after 2 visits, meeting two staff members and them offering advice following his assessment of dad, we moved him. This has been the best decision for dad. He is thriving. We now realise that he wasn't receiving the care that he was paying for at his old setting. He is putting on weight, is socialising, has not required any admissions to hospital, wears clean clothes everyday, eats good food. The staff are lovely, though I don't know all of their names(Name badges would be a bonus). Three staff members always take the time to give us an update on dad's condition and just have a general chat which is much appreciated. One always stops for a catch up. We made the best decision to move dad here. Paying more doesn't always guarantee the best. At Alexandra Care, they really do care.
I wanted to share a very special experience the wonderful staff in the Brooklands Unit gave our family and friends just yesterday. Our Mum has been looked after in the Alexandra Home at Poulton le Fylde for the last four years. She has absolutely flourished in Brooklands, to such an extent that we were able to celebrate her 100th Birthday yesterday! In anticipation of this milestone, the team had arranged for all the Brooklands community to have a little party to celebrate. We were all together, our families and friends, residents, staff, and even members of staff who were not working that day but had come in to give Mum their Birthday wishes. The amount of preparation and planning that went into this from the already very busy staff was extraordinary. All the Brooklands team is incredible but special thanks to the lady with the 'bunting'. My brother and I sincerely thank you all for giving Mum and her family such a special day!
Great staff, kind, thoughtful, helpful and the food looks good and plentiful. The garden area is lovely and relaxing. Really could do with some shade!
The care I am receiving is outstanding and nothing is too much trouble. The food is good but could be warmer.
This was one of the hardest decisions myself and my sister have ever had to make and never thought we would see the day we would have to do it. However following a hospital discharge in April 2024 it became apparent that Mum could no longer care for herself and that it was unsafe for her to be at home even though she had carers in four times a day. As soon as we arrived everyone made us feel so welcome. Everything was explained to us and all our questions were quickly answered in a professional manner. I don't know what I was expecting from a care home but this was a very pleasant surprise. It is so clean, lovely atmosphere and all the residents look so content. Fast forward seven weeks and after a shaky start, Mum has settled in and enjoying herself. She still thinks she will go home one day but the team quickly change the subject and distract her. I would like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for caring for my mum, I couldn't ask for better.
Have constantly appreciated the nurse's dedication and the kindness they show to us all. I am seriously applauding their care.
From the first day my Dad was admitted to the home we have been very impressed with all the staff in the home and they have made us (including my Dad) very welcome and they are helpful and professional. They also put a lot of effort into the activities for the residents.
My dad has now settled at The Alexandra Nursing Home, initially, he was in the Brambles Unit, but following a care review, he has moved to the Brooklands Unit. Since his move last year, he is much happier in his surroundings with a lovely bright en suite room. He does not wish to engage with other residents and activities as he is a private person who is happy in his own room and enjoys being taken outside into the garden. I cannot praise the staff highly enough in Brooklands, the manager and his team are attentive and my dad gets on extremely well with all the caring staff and is well-liked and respected by them. As a very doting son who cares very much for my dad, it is very encouraging and stress-free knowing that he is being cared for and his needs and requirements are seen to.
My mum has been in the Brooklands unit since November 23. Since her admission, I have noticed such an improvement in my mum's wellbeing and happiness and know that the staff have made her feel safe, supported and included in activities. The staff have also provided support to me through regular communication via email, phone calls and face-to-face. I also love seeing all of the posts on the online page which show a wide range of activities that she is a part of. I could not thank the home enough and highly recommend it.
My mum is a resident at the Brooklands unit. She has mixed dementia and macular degeneration. The staff at Brooklands are caring and extremely sympathetic with my mum's needs. I am happy with the care that she receives. I am kept up to date with any change in her medication, behaviour and well-being. I feel it is resident-focused, trying hard to keep her independent with her feeding.
My mum is a resident of Brooklands Unit and has not been at the home for too long, just since October last year. Mum suffers from Lewy Body Dementia, and this has been challenging for us as a family as well as for her to come to terms with. One gentleman and all his staff on the Brooklands unit have been so patient and understanding with us and Mum, to ensure that Mum has settled in her new home, and we are so happy that the care she needs and receives is met, with kindness and compassion. I cannot fault the whole team at Alexandra; thank you for looking after our mum, we know that she appreciates this herself and would also want to thank you all in her own way if she could.
My husband has been a resident at the Alexandra Care Home with Nursing for almost two years. He suffers from Lewy Body Dementia. He is in the Brambles Unit. In all that time I have never seen anything untoward. Every member of the staff is absolutely amazing. Caring for anyone with Dementia is extremely challenging. The nursing staff, the caring staff, the cooks and the cleaners work under tremendous pressure. Never once have I seen anything but kindness, caring and compassion from all the team. Thank you for the tremendous work you all do.
Since my wife was moved from the Brooklands unit to the Brambles Unit at the Alexandra Nursing Home I have noticed a marked change in the unit for the better from when she started to the present time, staff appear more relaxed, the unit appears to be more happier place. The staff are courteous and friendly to me and those who visit my wife.
Overall the home is good, although some staff responsiveness could be better. Weekend reception is excellent, however when visiting in the evening it was difficult to get the front door answered. This has improved in recent weeks. The activities coordinator is excellent and makes the home enjoyable to live there for the residents. He makes the real difference.
Since my husband was admitted I have found all staff to be courteous, helpful and friendly towards myself and my family. They always make me feel very welcome/ I visit at various times during the day and staff always have a smile and a greeting. No problems whatsoever.
