View Full Details of Highclere Care HomeMum was sadly diagnosed with Alzheimer's and needed nursing care. Highclere Care Home was great at meeting all her needs. Staff and management very attentive and caring, approachable and easy to talk to. All at Highclere were great in Mum's last months.
My mum got to a point in life where she no longer felt safe or able to manage daily activities at home. She knew of Highclere as one of her friends had been a resident there for many years, so she chose to move to Highclere. From day one, the staff were welcoming, efficient, approachable and friendly. My mum got to know each one by name, and they took the trouble to chat and spend time with her. They accommodated her meal preferences and, as she declined in mobility, treated her with dignity. Nothing beats your own home, but my mum seemed content at Highclere and thought of it as home. In her last days, the staff were particularly attentive to her increasing needs. They did their very best to look after her and ensure that she was comfortable. As a frequent visitor to Highclere, I have only good things to say about the staff, their level of care and the way the home is managed. It is the best care home that I have visited, and I have heard similar comments from others.
Highclere is a lovely place for mum to live. The nursing, care and admin staff are so friendly and helpful. The relationship the nursing team has with the local GP practice makes medical care seem less. There are a good range of inteteresting activities and everything is arranged thoughtfully with the care of the residents in mind. The lounge feels more like a small hotel than a care home. The food seems very good and snacks snd drinks are served regularly. I'm very impressed!
My brother and I live overseas and feel grateful to know our mother is in such caring hands. All of the staff members we've encountered have impressed us greatly, which gives us tremendous peace of mind to know that our mum is in such a great place. Thank you for being there for us all.
I am absolutely thrilled with the home overall. The staff looking after my mother are second to none. In just three weeks she has blossomed to her old self and is doing extremely well with the fabulous service she is receiving. She is 94 years old and I could not hope for her to be in a better place. Simply awesome!
My father moved in to Highclere in 2023 and stayed till the end over two years later. I agree with a lot of the other positive reviews so won't repeat them but will say that I visited several local homes and think I made a good choice. I think Highclere strikes a very good balance between keeping the residents safe while respecting their dignity and freedoms - it can't always be easy to get it right but it helps that the management is very pragmatic. Although Highclere is on a residential estate, it is not visible from the garden which has mature trees and a rural feel. Unlike some homes, the garden is always accessible to the residents - something my father took full advantage of. It is not advertised but the canal is a 10 minute walk away & so during nice weather I could borrow a wheelchair and take my father to watch the boats, wildlife and adjacent sculptures - sometimes we took sandwiches. I have some very happy memories of my father's time at Highclere.
My mother needed full care and i.e. bedridden for several years, this covered the COVID period. Our family will be forever grateful for the gentle and loving care given by the staff. They became Mum's second family. Their skill and kindness was quite exceptional particularly at the final stages of her life. Thank you all.
What an amazing Mother's Day treat organised today by the staff, for residents and their families - coffee and pastries with a great atmosphere. The staff were great to organise this for us. Thank you
As a family, we have nothing but praise and admiration for all the staff at Highclere. They are always so welcoming and the care they offer residents is second to none. Communication between nurses and family is exceptional and very reassuring. They always make time to answer any questions. Every member of staff within the care home makes time to chat with residents and family, which is always much appreciated. A range of events are celebrated and yesterday, the activity coordinators created a beautiful get together for Mother's Day. It was wonderful to see so many residents and families enjoying time together, in a beautifully decorated lounge, along with tea and pastries. We can't thank staff enough for their hard work and dedication and would definitely recommend Highclere Care Home.
The staff transformed my Aunties wellbeing during the time she was in their care, almost 2 years. All the staff were friendly and helpful, especially if I was concerned about my Aunty. The communication, regular updates, and phone calls were reassuring. Living in Highclere was such a contrast from her home environment. She blossomed! Her physical and mental state improved dramatically. Good nutritious food, excellent stimulating and fun activities, kindness and excellent nursing care. As I didn't live close enough to pop in. It was a comfort to know my Aunty was in such good hands.
Sadly my dad only spent a few days in the home before being admitted back into hospital where he passed away. I was sure that had my dad got better he would of been very happy and would have settled well there, as during my visits I was very happy with the staff and the general feeling around the place.
Having spent 6 weeks in hospital, I was concerned for the ongoing care of my mum. Her condition had vastly deteriorated and I felt she had been neglected. The care she received at Highclere Care Home was completely opposite. All the staff from the administrative nursing staff, cleaners and kitchen staff showed my mum devoted care and consideration. They also took time to show kindness and consideration to all mum's relatives and friends. I cannot emphasise enough how pleased and thankful we all were with the care given to my mum at Highclere.
We would just like to thank everyone who made our mum's 90th birthday on 11th September, so special. We really appreciate all the care, love and support that you give her and our family.
My grandmother came to Highclere just before her 100th birthday, she wasn't best pleased to be leaving her own home but needs must. The staff were all helpful, caring and friendly, whatever time we visited. Always happy to help and talk with us about concerns. In the end nanny adjusted and began to enjoy activities, which she wished she had joined sooner. The lovely staff cared for her and our family till the end of her life.
My father was initially at Highclere for a temporary stay after being in hospital but decided to move in permanently after finding the care he was given was excellent. He never had a bad word to say about the home of the staff. On my visits I always found the staff to be very friendly and caring. My father was looked after very well to the end of Highclere and I would thoroughly recommend it.
My mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer in the summer of 2023. In October she was no longer able to live at home and so moved into Highclere. Sadly she died in early February but as a family, we feel so very lucky that she was able to spend her last days at Highclere. We have nothing but admiration and gratitude for all the staff who cared for her as if she were a member of their own family. We always felt Mum was receiving the best care possible – from the manager to the nurses and carers and everyone else. The staff were also extremely welcoming to us as a family as we became regular visitors. In fact, we have all said how much we're going to miss everyone there. We also have the nurse to thank for calling us back in late one night when she saw Mum take a turn for the worse. Thanks to her we were able to be with Mum in her final hours. Overall, we cannot thank the staff enough for how they treated Mum and us as a family. Really top class.
I can't speak highly enough of the staff. They went above and beyond when looking after my mum for her last few months of life. They got to know her, took time out of their busy schedules to talk to her, paint her nails and did everything they could to maintain her dignity and comfort at a difficult time. Our family feels so lucky and grateful to have found Highclere.
The staff at Highclere looked after Mum with such love and kindness and when we came to visit, we were given the same love and kindness. We never had to worry whilst Mum was at Highclere and for that, we are so incredibly grateful. They became our friends and we will miss them all dearly.
A very nice, clean, friendly home. By far the best that my wife has been in during the last thirty-plus years. I can thoroughly recommend Highclere Care Home.
I have always found the staff friendly and helpful. It is always clean and tidy. My mother is well looked after and refers to everyone as 'family'.
