View Full Details of Valley View Care HomeOverall experience excellent but room are very small.
Excellent care, very well cared for by the staff.
My husband has been in Valley View since Nov 23 and we have had a very positive experience so far, although at first I was heart broken at having to see him go into a home. It is the calibre of the staff that make a good home. We were all very sad to see the manager leave and we are eagerly anticipating the appointment of a new manager, as at the moment the home feels rudderless. I am also very very sad to hear rumours of one member of staff in particular leaving, she is a vital part of the home.
As a family we have nothing to say bad about the home, mam is treated with care and dignity, she is happy and healthy here and is so much happier in herself, the care she has is good and most of all she has told us so, and coming from another home we have noticed her being much more happier, and cleaner.
The care home is well run and my father had good personal attention for the nearly 2 years he was a resident. Everyone was kind to dad and to the visitors he received.
Firstly a big thankyou to all members of staff for the care you gave to my mother when she came to Valley View care home 17th April 2024, until she sadly passed away on 10th February 2025. She enjoyed being at the home, and in her first months she enjoyed the activities, the company and she also appreciated the way she was looked after. As time progressed, she started to deteriate, especially suffering from Alzheimers, but she was always smiling and happy and looked forward to chatting to the staff. Your staff looked after her and supported her to when she sadly passed away on the 10th February. It gave us comfort to know that she was not alone, and once again we really appreciate what you did for our mother. Your home is such a lovely clean happy environment, we could not of wished for anything more for her.
What a fabulous place can't say enough about the amazing staff. The place is always clean and tidy, staff are so caring and respectful. Mam is very happy there are always loads going on. Can't thank you enough.
Mam has always had an excellent carer looking after her, she is always clean, dressed well, hair done. They always put her needs first make sure she drinks enough and eats, and medication is always given if not they find a way to give it if possible. First-class entrainment, food excellent mam is well looked after, I've got no worries about leaving her here as she is well taken care of with dignity and respect if I had to give a score out of 10 it be a 10.
My father has been a resident for eight months at Valley View Care Home. My partner and I have extensive knowledge and experience in the care for the elderly so I can say with some confidence that the care provided is much more than we had hoped for. The staff really do care about their residents, from their personal hygiene to their happiness and well being. My father is content, settled and cared for. His dignity has not been compromised and his love for the staff is frequently vocalised. My father's room is always clean, and his clothes are always clean and available. He enjoys the food and continues to put a little weight on. He is always involved in the myriad of activities that occur so frequently. The staff are available for any concerns you may have and whilst it is sometimes difficult to telephone through I remind myself that the priority are the residents, and I can call again with no difficulty. Sincerely, thank you all.
Can't fault the Valley View family, the manager and her team are fantastic, they are all amazing, my mum is so happy and well looked after everyone from cleaners to managers are fantastic, and the activities are amazing my mum especially enjoys the singing we love to see her singing. Very polite and pleasant staff would highly recommend.
I must admit I was sceptical at first having heard rumours from families before the Caron Group took over but I decided to take a look and go with my own instincts. The first walk around went well but it's not until weeks and months pass that you truly see what all staff do. My mam has now been a resident at Valley View for 8 months and counting. She is very well cared for by all staff and all the family are made to feel welcome, after all, this is HER home now. From kitchen staff, cleaners, maintenance staff to carers, nurses and office staff I can't fault anyone. Don't get me wrong, we have had teething problems but things always get sorted once I've spoken to management - they are there to be pulled up if you're not happy or want to discuss something. My mam, who is immobile, fed puréed food and blind is included in almost all activities. She is bathed regularly and her room is always spotlessly clean, and above all she is extremely happy!
My mother was admitted to Valley View Care Home in July last year following a stroke. The care provided by the staff has been exceptional, as have the facilities and food, and their overall friendliness and professionalism all helped make the transition as painless as possible.
Valley View is a beautiful home where our mother is well looked after and very content. The home is spotless and her bedroom is always fresh and clean. All levels of staff are so lovely from cleaners right up to management. Entertainment and activity staff are amazing, so much recreation going on even our mother's speech has greatly improved. Would be nice to have more visiting areas available as Mam doesn't always want to sit in her room if the visiting room is occupied but we totally understand the privacy of residents. I would recommend this home, it is a loving family and we always are made to feel welcome by all staff. The carers and nurses keep us informed about our Mam. We are so happy Mam is in this lovely home.
Very positive first impressions of all the staff being very friendly and helpful.
Cannot thank the staff enough here at Valley View Care Home for looking after my nan before she passed. They were marvellous with her, polite, kind and very caring. She only spent 1 week there before she sadly left us but all of us as a family can't fault the care she received while being there. Thank you all so much for taking care of my nan on her last days here with us, all of you are a credit to Valley View.
My mam was admitted to Valley View following her having suffered a stroke which had left her immobile and unable to speak. During her time there we witnessed her being treated so gently and with dignity and respect that it was heartwarming. The staff there are all wonderful and the atmosphere was something everyone from our family commented on when they visited. As a family we were very much treated as part of the 'Valley View family' and I cannot thank them enough for all they did to make my Mam so comfortable right up until the end.
I am very happy with this care home. My dad is a completely different gentleman, he’s walking which he wasn’t doing, talking much more to family and every time you speak to him he says how lovely it is and not to take him home. The staff are always very helpful and keeps me informed of everything Dad does and if he requires anything I couldn’t have asked for a nicer home for him.
My dad has dementia and is anxious and confused. He moved in last year and the staff here have been excellent. They have welcomed my dad and family members with enthusiasm and nothing is too much trouble. The care they provide is excellent and my dad is very comfortable. They engage him as much as possible and respect his wishes when he wants some quiet time. The interaction with residents in the home and the activities provided are brilliant. They listen to us as a family and to my dad in relation to his ongoing needs. Thank you to one and all!
When Mum arrived she was confused and distressed having moved from a previous care home. She was subdued, disillusioned and didn’t want to live. She had stopped eating, drinking and communicating. But now she is in a completely different place. Since being at Valley View, she has been nurtured back to her old self. She eats, drinks well and communicates. She is so much like her old self; cheeky, teasing and making friends with her favourite staff. She even walks better. Staff are friendly and embracing of residents. Nothing is too much trouble, staff have time to communicate and are always near to hand. The food is lovely and cooks/chef spend time in the dinning area preparing food in front of residents. They can smell the food being prepared and this encourages eating. The management team are friendly and will listen to any concerns and are willing to offer information. Although I have not had any concerns. Plenty of safety equipment around. There are plenty of activities taking place.
I was very worried about putting my mum in a care home but I couldn't have put her in any better place than Valley View in Hengoed. In the 15 months, she was there, she always said how kind the staff were to her and the dignity and respect they showed to my mum, especially this month, when she gained her wings, will live with me always. A lot of the staff went out of their way to spend time with my mum, especially as she became more and more frail. Every effort was made to allow my mum to express her wishes and cater to her needs. She was often encouraged to join the other residents and when she didn't feel like it, every effort was made to ensure that she was comfortable. The care taken of my mother by the staff, especially in those last weeks and months, was exceptional.
Overall experience excellent but room are very small.
